Gah, thanks y'all (and shoutouts to jts, Felipe, and Claudia for the extra kindness)!

Also, Hatetofly, I did die when I shook hands to accept the job offer, but my interviewer had a defibrillator, and everything worked out just fine, haha! And a belated congrats to your future Hateto Jr.! May they hate aerial travel as much as you.

Well said thank you

Well I would give Disney props for going all out with the themeing even in the case of their restrooms but I will only do that if they offer legitimate attraction experiences....Not a circus freak show.

The bathroom is better themed than all of Storybook Circus combined.

So I didn't want to create a thread or anything for something this personal, and it's hardly anything to spur on a riot of any sorts, but after an arms race of waiting for either Universal or Disney to respond, I finally landed a job in the Magic Kingdom!

The main reason why I'm posting this here is because I'll be working quick service food outside in the area dubbed "East" (essentially the food carts of Fantasyland, Storybook Circus, and Tomorrowland), and I figured that I'll now be able to acquire updates for our community. Granted, my camera isn't a DSLR, but I'll be able to get some good shots with my little 14x zoom P&S. Obviously I'll only be getting updates as a guest in guest-accessible areas, just as everyone else, though at least I can hope to contribute to our WDW update armada!

Congrats, viola. While I know food service isn't your hopeful profession (clearly design is where you need to be), but you made the right short-term choice. Disney's food ops offer more career advancement opportunities and sanity overall.

I applied to Universal in December and I have yet to receive a reply... Disney, on the other hand, contacted me to schedule an "online interview" and subsequently my real interview within the same day. They seemed quite thirsty, but I'm not one to judge!

The best job to which you should apply is quick service food and drink. That's the spot with the most openings. Afterwards, as I plan on doing, you can transfer to other sections throughout the resort.

That't exactly what I did when I applied at Disney and during my interview she said she thought I would be a much better fit for attractions ops than food and beverage. But yea, applying for food and beverage helps land that interview.

Also, I waited about a month after I applied to Universal and started calling them once about every 2 weeks expressing my interest. After the second time, the lady said I should receive an email to schedule my interview within the hour. I don't know if it was a coincidental, but I think it helped. It may be worth a shot if you're still interested in a position.

Violarium, you are working the same position I left about six months ago. I hope you're not part time with limited availability.

So, my thoughts on the expansion:

-Mermaid, while still an overall mediocre attraction, works much better in its MK setting than its DCA counterpart. The queue is nice, though I think much of the early hype was overblown. I wouldn't rank the queue above or near Pirates, Space Mountain, ToT, Everest, Star Tours, etc.

-Gaston's Tavern and the area around it are the best parts of the expansion, IMO. I really liked the interior of Gaston's.

-Le Fou's Brew, however, isn't anything special. The frozen apple drink tastes good enough, but the foam is NASTY and doesn't compliment the rest of the drink.

-Be Our Guest is okay. The theming is cool, but the counter service meal I had there was nothing more than okay. This should have been a ride. No question about it.

-Overall the area looks great, and I'm sure it'll look better once the mine train is finished.

-Storybook Circus is another big "meh" for me. It looks way better than Toontown Fair, but that's ruined by the obnoxious Casey Jr.

This is probably not good news, lol. I'm offering my full availability to my part time in this position. Hopefully, in time, I can find a way to transfer over to part time in attractions, so that's my goal. I'm also going to try to get a second job to help raise money for a car because three days of work probably won't help much lol.

Oh, and my Traditions is next week! That has me all excited and whatnot, especially for getting updates.

Great shots HTF! Those Tangled toilets better make me younger when I sing to them or I'm going to be mightily disappointed.

Violarium -

What website did you use to apply? My friends husband is looking for a job, but every time they look they don't find the lower food service jobs. Only chef's and other higher up positions. I am wondering if they are on the wrong site and there is another site for ride operations/park counter food service.

@IzzyB: I used the Disney Careers webpage and navigated to this link, which will show all available positions, including both high-up and normal jobs! I urge to check it every day; the jobs that they list there can be replaced with new ones in a matter of hours based on need. Usually the normal ones will grant you an interview instantly, but it takes a little over a month to have your Traditions (orientation) scheduled for you after you accept the job offer, so I recommend patience as well. I wish them luck!
