They could take a page with the Telltale designs, doing something more "animated" in style.

okay… what?

i have an immediate reaction here.

1. michael and chris being older. It doesn’t matter. Universal can make anything possible with characters. there are already examples of this in park. also with how amazing animatronics have been lately, who is to say they wouldn’t be figures. both michael and chris can do v/o no problem.

2. if they do this i need a test track / cars style system (a car ride that can go fast) and it needs to also be able to raise off the floor for a moment where the ride transitions from driving to flying.

3. can this kind of ride be done with the space there? because bttf doesn’t need to be a retheme - it deserves to be a high level e tick.

3: Supercharged's showbuilding is the largest showbuilding at USF property. Far larger than MIB or Gringotts, shockingly.

Assuming if they gut the main ride portion, and partially renovate the queue portion--you could do a lot with that showbuilding.

game on then… this could end up being one of the biggest upgrades in park history lol

also ironic if it goes this route that a fast car style ride will live in that building just not for the fast series. go figure.

when i look at an aerial for supercharged why can i already imagine that front area as courthouse square. i hate that this post just gave me hope lol.

Might have some things wrong--but to demonstrate just how big F&F is compared to that of Gringotts and MIB; Supercharged is quite easily the biggest soundstage in the lot because of the stupidity that is Supercharged's layout and configuration.

The amount of space they'd have if they were to internally gut the main ride portion, would give them a building venue that can easily cater a Spider-Man level dark ride as easily as it could. It's why I hope whatever Len's heard is something more complex than that of a "retheme".

Based on what we have seen at Epic I don’t think Universal is even interested in building that type of ride anymore. I don’t think we need to worry about a retheme.

Can we please talk about the front of FF though because it already looks like courthouse square and you can already see where the clock tower would be.

Doc Brown is offering a special anniversary tour that will take us back to witness the historic events of 1955, one of the most important dates for time travel.

After visiting some of his assistants for a briefing in Doc Brown’s office, we board his family’s time train, now equipped with extra passenger seating for this special occasion.

After a reminder of the events that happened in 1955, (both times,) where Doc successfully brought Marty back to the future, we’re sent back in time ourselves.

But upon arrival it becomes clear that we’ve gotten a hitchhiker—older Biff climbs off the train, and he immediately teams up with young Biff back in the past (along with his goons) to try and steal our train for their own gain.

We travel around Hill Valley’s iconic clock tower square on the stormy night of the events of the climatic conclusion of the first film, trying to escape the Biffs, while also attempting to go undetected by Doc and Marty from the past, as those iconic events unfold around us.

Just as we defeat the Biffs and shake them off our tail into a manure truck to our right. We stop just in time to see the DeLorean speed down the road on our left, triggering the wire just as lightning strikes the tower, sending Marty back.

We feel the heat of the flames from the tires just as we ourselves speed back up into the sky, traveling back to present day, and back to where we started.

This seems way to good to be true, but the building is absolutely big enough for this….

While I would love to imagine that they'd gut the building and build a whole new ride system..

I'm gonna try to be realistic. It would be a retheme.

I wonder how quickly they would jump on this. Do we think F&F replaces rockit in 2027 followed by a retheme of supercharged in 2028?

This feels right to me. Gives EU or IOA a chance for something in 2029, or, they pump the brakes and we just wait for Pokémon for 2030. That’d be a great 5 year plan for revamping USF a bit.

That was my thinking as well. The only other option would be to double dip like Hulk + Kong in 2016.

if they did something like this the whole thing could be like Star wars tours or vr ( not a racing ride necessarily)

my concept uses preshow spaces, and 100% existing infrastructure and scene set up. time travel sequence up to 88mph in endless hallway, then musion scene for Biffs getting off our train and plot elements, then drive out into courthouse square as 360 tunnel

I’d love if we could make it a little more practical sets like Disaster, but I am not at all mad at this concept! Proper use of the ride system, and I’d imagine the screen use will be better quality and used “smarter” than its current form. I like where this is trending.

Had the same idea a few years ago.

San Francisco
  • In a blue sky scenario I would demolish F&F, but a practical solution would be to convert it into a Back to the Future attraction. Replace the facade with the courthouse and convert the rest of San Francisco into Hill Valley in the 80s. The storyline could be that Doc has decided to become an entrepreneur and utilize the tech for time travel tourism. The simulated long tunnel could be utilized to speed the bus to 88mph before heading into the first stop in the tour (the first practical set could be Hill Valley set during the old west or future) before heading into the musion scene where Biff takes over. The 360 tunnel would then follow the original ride's idea of chasing Biff through the ice age, etc.
  • Convert Lombard's into Cafe 80s (yes, I know it's out of place in 1985, but who cares). Lombard's is nice, but there's no denying it is not very popular. Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi Dine-in at WDW are much more popular concepts.
  • Retheme Richter's to a restaurant inspired by Doc. Convert it into a chicken place serving tenders, chicken & waffles, sandwiches, and Mac & Cheese bowls since Universal is insistent on having the Mac & Cheese truck year-round.
  • Move Jaws next to the crepe stand

With adjustments, the 360 tunnel might be big enough to fit in a DeLorean on a Kuka arm so you can always be next to it while riding? Would at least make it a bit more interesting

As much as I've been pounding the table (and will continue to) for a non-screen-reliant dark ride to come to USF (either as a fresh build or replacing one of the simulators), BTTF using simulator-heavy infrastructure feels fine to me. It was good enough for BTTF: The Ride, and I think (read: hope) a new iteration of the system would incorporate lessons learned/feedback from the failure of Supercharged (i.e. better pacing, perhaps more sets, etc.).

But really, the upgrade for the park would be the IP itself. Getting BTTF back into the attraction lineup would be huge.
