If they're going to do a Godzilla themed attraction, let's get a Tokyo themed land somewhere...it would make so much sense because they could use it for a lot of different popular IP in various types of attractions and rotated out like they do at USJ.

True, but at least this theme would, at least in theory, have practical effects!

I recall some crazy ambitious ideas for Skull Island that were rumored back in the mid 2010's. By the time the ride opened it seemed like a lot of stuff got cut. Maybe this could be their chance to make up for that.

I think the scale of the character is so massive (300+ feet tall) that it's very hard to design an attraction experience around him.

This kind of experience should be fundamental to Universal Studios Florida (i.e. there should always be one of some sort). I would like to see a "fire, sparks, wind, smoke, steam, rushing water" showcase return to the park.

I wish Universal had better rights to Hanna Barbara and particularly Scooby and gang. Because this would be a great spot for a Scooby attraction. Reskin the vehicles to be modified Mystery Machines...

I still say Scooby should go on the empty theater spot in Toon Lagoon.

I thought Twister was overdue to go but if they can bring it back and make a ride out of it rather than just standing there with actual practical effects that would pretty nice. Also would help to balance out the screens issue at USF.

I dunno if we'll ever get those again after the death of the behind-the-scenes of movie attractions have gone away.

Many of the late 70's early 80's episodes were set in San Francisco. Particularly when Scrappy was introduced.

We've moved beyond Scooby Doo at HHN and now into Scooby Doo replacing F&F.

I'd love it.. I don't think either of them are ever happening lol

Sounding like Scooby Doo is now a rival to Sponge Bob, among hard core Universal theme park fans, to replace any/all existing Universal Orlando attractions. The non Universal owned IP cure all. ;) :lmao:

Everyone keeps saying that Spongebob/Bikini Bottom would be a great replacement for Toon Lagoon, I think it makes a more suited replacement for Springfield. You could easily replace all of those restaurants with Spongebob ones.

Krusty Burger > Krusty Krab
Luigi's > Krusty Krab Pizza
Lard Lad > Sandy's Texas-Sized Donuts
Kletus' > The Chum Bucket
Moe's > The Salty Splatoon
Weenie Hut Jr's Ice Cream

Retheme Kudos and Kang to a Plankton spinner and the Simpsons Ride for a simple boat dark ride and boom. You got a simple Spongebob land.

I agree and have thought/said the same thing before too (great minds!) I think there is one plus for having Spongebob/Bikini Bottom being in Toon Lagoon and that's because it's an IP that takes place under water and there are water rides in that land... however I also agree that Springfield would be a great place for it...just move the Spongebob StorePants shop a bit further down "the road" and the whole fast food court of Springfield can get quickly easily rethemed (we really do need a Krusty Krab as a non-negotiable if this land came to fruition...it would be a shame not to!)

Kang and Kodos could alternatively be rethemed to a Jellyfishing ride..but whatever it would be, I think they should just add some water features to it like One Fish Two Fish...and Simpsons - Mrs. Puff's Boating School. Add a few more other water features throughout the area i.e a splash pad etc. and I think it could really work well.

I can't imagine this becoming Twisters just because of how little it makes sense for a bus/subway style vehicle and for how little merch/food potential there is for the IP. But that kind of low effort and low budget re-theme is about the level of care I think this may get o_O

With the PATH hint, if they are indeed going with a NY theme, I really hope it's not GhostBUSters. The IP deserves a better dark ride and ride system.

Godzilla would be an awesome IP to have in the park but again not on this lame ride system. Although they would be able to keep the SanFran location since it has close ties to the Monsterverse Godzilla series and SanFran does have a subway system, it doesn't fit with the clear NY hint if that's indeed what HTF's comment was getting at. Hmm...

What if HTF’s hint is more obvious than we think? Hear me out…

Godzilla sounds cool on paper when you realize that it would be difficult to pull it off with how massive he is. They could set it in New York but I feel like that could be a stretch. For that reason, maybe the solution is simpler than we think…

…what if we’re getting Kongfrontation 2.0?

I’m not privy to the GSATs so this theory could be shot down by how the guests view Skull Island. But being that there’s a big push to reinvigorate USF with throwback/classic IPs, this would be the way to do it. With Skull Island retiring 3D on the ride, I have to wonder how much longer they intend to keep it. IoA is running out of space with Lost Continent going so replacing Skull Island would free up space.

I will also say that I imagine whatever goes here will also go to USH. Theres a push from people wishing for a physical Kong back and that park just dumped 3D. I could see them demo’ing Kong 360 on the Tour and putting a proper Kong attraction into Supercharged. It would also fee up the collapsing bridge again! It would be a fair tradeoff to scrap two mediocre 360 tunnels for one awesome practical effects ride.

Just a thought.

I’m confused why are you so pessimistic?

Like there is no reason for that.

For a few years this has been rumored to be a relatively quick re-theme. Hence why the BTTF rumor had so much steam behind it, since the ride system and screen tunnel could most easily be used for that theme. The last few pages have been people speculating Twisters since it would be a relatively easy/cheap re-theme if they really wanted to.

I think Universal's decision-making in USF over the last twelve years offers plenty of reasons to be, if not outright pessimistic, at least very guarded in ones expectations.
