To be fair, Soarin' looked giant and out of place when being built. Can't say I noticed the show building last time we went.

Only time will tell.

So the whole former building will look plain grey? How is that "Guardians of the Galaxy" like? Or is it a representation of how Peter Quill remembered EPCOT Center when he visited as a kid and this building represents it: boring.

It’s roughly half the size of SSE so yeah.

Oh, and supposedly PART of the reason the attraction won’t be ready until 2021 is bc they aren’t filming the ride scenes until GOTG 3 goes into production.

Avengers spoilers.

Why would they need to wait for filming to start when Rocket is CGI? :look:

And Drax is invisible, because he’s moving so slow.

I just can't imagine that building is going to look anything other than terrible when it's all done.

VOL. 3 should be filming in early 2019; people inside may want to use that as an excuse for why this apparently can't be open until 2021, but that doesn't hold much water for me.

I said PART of the reason. The other reason is mostly because Disney wants to hold this off for a 2021 Opening.

Although this huge building is starting to make more sense out of the ridiculous budget given how WDI spends.

I think that's 99% of the reason, but we don't need to quibble over percentages. ;)

And yet indications are that there won't actually be very much inside that building other than the coaster track itself. If that's accurate, it still seems like they're spending way too much money on this project for what we're going to be getting.

No, I just mean pure size of the building. I imagine it’s costing a pretty penny. Probably over $100M alone on the building if I’m estimating.

WDW projects seem to have two modes. They either hate to spend or overspend. Someday they might find a happy medium.

I think you are shooting a bit high there... a new Walmart Super Center or Home Depot doesn’t come anywhere close to that.

You’re underestimating how freely WDI blows through money. Once money is granted to them, they go crazy.

They should have made it a half marathon.
