I realize it is getting rid of an attraction and again I take this rumor with a grain of salt. But does anyone actually go on Energy? I mean from a Disney side of things they have operating costs of a ride that people barely ever go on. I know the last time I was on there the cars were no where close to being filled. I don't even think they were half way filled. Plus they run less cars than they can. So I can see why they would replace this ride so that their operating costs match the amount of people going on the ride.

UofE Pros: A very unique show with incredible technology for the time it was built (a 360 degree platform holding tons and tons of weight, but rotating in complete silence) and trackless ride vehicles. Keeps the Epcot mission statement and runs (or at least partially did) on solar energy.

UofE Cons: it's a 38 minute long experience, has actors who have aged 20 years and screens and animatronics that are not working correctly or removed entirely, plus a dinosaur ride that is slow and plodding compared to the other Dinosaur ride in DAK, and also competing with Jurassic Park in dinosaur attractions. I also don't see anyone at Disney making a new version of this attraction while keeping the existing idea, and not tearing everything out.

U of E Pro: Great place to cool off and take a quiet nap to help get you through a long hot theme park day. :)...... Sorry, that's the only pro I could think of for the attraction.

That is what we have used it for in the past. Great napping place for young kids :)

I think attractions should be 30 minutes max...especially with kids, people with small bladders, etc. It's not like a movie where you can run out for a moment, you're stuck for the duration.

UoE creeped me out bigtime. I felt as if I had been forgotten about and sent to never ending purgatory. All I could think was "get me outta here!!!".

I'd say that's accurate for the original version...the dinos and the lasers at the end were amazing, plus the music, but the exxon advertisement was dull as crap....in general I liked the current version better, however I did like the original Radok squares preshow...you'd think they could have installed it somewhere else and used them, like innoventions...but oh well.

Right, but that's phase 2 while phase 1 takes out an existing attraction. I'd be less salty about it if they flipped the plan and added a new attraction before they take another one out.

I hear you, but just like Imagination, the Energy building needs a kick in the pants. If they completely gutted the building as is being suggested, used a new ride system, i'd pretty much be brand new. It would also, unlike Frozen, be a high capacity ride.

I didn't start visiting the parks on a regular basis until 2007 (I had many times throughout the years from 98-05, but I was pretty young). I tend to give some things more of a benefit of the doubt in Epcot because I didn't know EPCOT Center. At the same time, GotG in Future World feels slightly off to me, although I will say Xandar has some amazing possibilities for an amazing Future World aesthetic:

My only fear is more if they have this project take over a year and a half to open..especially if it's in Mission Space.

Space sucks, nobody likes it. Good riddance.

Y'know, if any of this is true.

I hope you're right.

EDIT: Well, no, I hope nobody's right and they're not shoving Guardians anywhere it doesn't belong and give it its own state-of-the-art attraction, but that's not the Disney we live with nowadays, is it?

Unless you are saying keep the ride system.

So, are they thinking of keeping the ride system on ToT? If so, I don't understand the correlation between GotG and being yanked up and down.

I've always looked at it as what they did to Maelstrom: keep the ride system and build the attraction within the building they have.
