With US it looks interesting, but not sure if it would be maze worthy not being negative about it, but saying it might have some difficult issues similar to Get Out.

So I saw Pet Sematary, and while I think it could've been alot better, it does have plenty of stuff for a maze.

* Start out with the facade of the Creed's home. There's foliage, a voice over from Jud about the rocky soil of men's heart, and there's a lighting effect to suggest truck headlights passing by...

* Begin in a little foyer with dirty paw prints everywhere. You hear Church the cat mewling and Rachel pounding in the background, and the tree branches scratch the windows. Victor Pascow shows up at one of the windows as a pepper's ghost, warning Louis not to do it...

* Into a small hospital room, which smells like antiseptic and is covered in blood. Victor Pascow is on the hospital bed panicking, flailing around, spraying guests with water...until the lights cut out, and a spotlight shows that he's sitting up, warning guests that the ground is sour.

* Into a kitchen! Where there's a banging in the dumbwaiter, and blood leaking from the underside. A plate of food lies on the counter, and a young Rachel cowers from the dumb waiter. She's screaming, "she hated me!" Suddenly, Zelda leaps out of the dumbwaiter, freaking them out. (They could also do the bathroom scene, which would probably fit towards the end of the maze.)

* Now into the basement, where a zombified Church sits on the steps hissing and spitting at guests. When they pass by the stairs, a blackout makes a Church hand-puppet leap out of the dark. A nearby dark doorway has a pair of Truck headlights shining out, and Victor Pascow leaps out the side of the door. (They could do a truck scare here too, but idk, I feel like that'd be too hokey)

* Out of the basement and into a black hallway. You hear the sounds of the crash in the background, and then a low, shellshocked hum. The truck has crashed, and Ellie is dead. Onto the Pet Sematary.

* Through a couple of trees and forests where kids in animal masks with tin-can shakers lie in wait. A drum plays steadily along in the background, and crosses made of copper pipes and bicycle tires dot the path forward.

* Past a tree with a swirl carved in the side, you enter an area similar to Stranger Thing's forest last year. There's blue light, the cry of the loon, and one projection effect shows the wendigo lurking among the trees. Like Frankenstein in UCM, Louis is carrying Ellie's corpse and whispering to it. As guests leave, Ellie leaps out of the side with a shovel.

* House facade! It's Jud's home! There's an extinguished fireplace, still smoking, and dirty footprints leading to the door.

* Into Jud's foyer, where Jud lies on the ground with his ankle sliced open. Ellie leaps out from under a table. A blackout makes a Church puppet leap out at the audience through the bannister.

* And into Ellie's room, Ellie stabs at Rachel maniacally and Rachel whispers out "You're not my daughter." The closet door is open and guests think that a monster will leap out from the hanging clothes; instead, Zelda crawls out from under.

* Back out doors, past a few picket fences with maybe one or two Ellie scares to pad out the scare count, and into the Pet Sematary one more time. It's a bit more of a clearing this time, with scattered crosses around that form a switchback for guests to walk around. Louis, on one side, struggles with Ellie on his back like Ash with his sister in 2017. As guests near the end of the bend, A newly zombified Rachel pops out the side of the forest.

*And for the finale! It's, again, a wooded area, this time with Gage locked in a car (make him one of those screaming children props they put into the schoolbus for the Purge Tram). All three zombified family members pop out from all sides. Jud, in the background, whispers "Sometimes, dead is better"

* Wendigo stiltwalker as the one final scare.

Like I said, I definitely felt like this movie could've been alot better, but it could make a decent maze if they cared to bring it. IDK though, the box office looks fine but the chatter on the internet is not really of the positive type, at least like it was with IT and Us. Hell, maybe they should've chosen a shorter name? Pet Sem? IDK.

Might go see it tonight... but I LOVE the original (and its sequel). I'm keeping my expectations low, but it does seem to have haunt-use potential.

I know I've beat this topic to death, but I still maintain that Us isn't any more politically racey than the Purge or even The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I can get Us not coming due to Orlando not getting it in time, but I seriously feel like saying Us is too politically radical to come to HHN threatens to devalue alot of other properties that came to the event. Like, we've had how many years of the Purge?

That doesn't mean that they won't sanitize the hell out of Us if it comes, but still.

good writeup, though the only thing i'll change would be the opening dialogue in the facade to something like the first teaser. "it was a myth, kids used to dare eachother to go into the woods at night. they knew the power of that place, they feared it. those woods..belonged to something else. it may be just some crazy folk tale, but there is something in those woods. something...that brings things back. sometimes dead is better"
also im surpised you didn't use the body horror filled zelda nightmare sequence.

I didn't actually like that scene with Rachel in the movie, I thought it was kinda redundant. Still, I think that was more or less what I wanted to get at with Zelda coming out from the closet.

Idk, I feel like they messed up with Zelda. She had a presence but they showed too much of her too quickly, I think.

He already de-confirmed The Shining. Currently it's unknown what this could apply to, maybe Hill House if you believe its coming, but the connections are weak.

so the rumored lineup is this
- Stranger Things (Confirmed)
- Ghostbusters
- Holidayz in Hell
- Suspiria
- Mexican Original
- Universal Classic Monsters 2
out of these, i think holidayz fits the most. the music of 30’s crooner Al Bowlly and carpet design patterns from the 1970’s can be used for the new years scene. and the musical/dance number “Triplets” from the 1953 movie The Band Wagon (and 1937 play “Between the Devil”) can be used for the elves in the christmas room.

This whole year has been a wild goose hunt and I kinda love it. We were predicting Freaks and Psycho for chrissakes.

(But I'd totes love a Hitchcock or De Palma maze please let that be a thing please)

If we got Hellraiser, Ghostbusters, and Suspiria in the same year then I’d had to live at HHN this year

Ok is there anymore clues, other then Chris's "Abstract" properties that is causing people to jump down the Suspiria rabbit hole.

I just don't see it coming. It has almost no recognition from the GP and while it has some maze elements it just doesn't move the needle.

Ghostbusters I can see more of a logical deduction based upon some of John's tweets. Especially the "fans would go crazy for (in good & bad ways)". See I can look at that, combine with other tidbits and say "He could be talking about Ghostbusters". So far though, I haven't seen anything to say "Yeah he could be talking about Suspiria".

Wait, are we also no longer considering HDD films/HoB 3 as a potential maze anymore?

I don't see Suspiria coming to either coast, but IPs without GP name recognition are going to be the case far more often now on both coasts. I mean, last year when I was in line for Poltergeist, I would ask people out of curiosity if they had seen the movie. A majority hadn't--some didn't even know it WAS a movie. And that was a BANNER house.

Dang with all this talk of obscure ips, new effects/building techniques, etc. if we're lucky we could have a very interesting year on our hands.

I'd suspect if Ghostbusters is coming this would be it. I believe Akroyd would have to be in on the decision making factor for this as he co wrote the original, though could be Reitman.

IDK, just from the phrasing it could easily be a music maze too (The Smiths? Pink Floyd?)
