I can see why you'd say that, but in person, it actually kind of works. Even I fell for the gag with the first one I saw, totally thought it was a real guest.

Re: HHN. I agree complaints over use of others' intellectual property and the inclusion of Penn & Teller are premature. But I am scared if there is only one "true" SZ (rumors are it would be outside Disaster, in the back of the park). HHN needs SZs as you enter the park, and at this point, the Facebook generation is going to demand a photo-op zone as well (think Fear or even 7 last year). At this point it's as much a part of the event as the houses.

It would be cool to see them get taken away and mangled. Maybe pull them into a construction wall and then throw body parts over it, after some gowling and screamong.

One scarezone didn't work for 16, it's not gonna work this year.

I wouldn't mind them if they weren't there to prevent construction pictures which, as a guy living 600 miles away, is all I have (until October at least.)

This will be my first HHN. I'm sure they'll surprise us with some things this year, but things will be different, there's no getting around that. Im sure they're coming up with things to make up for all of the construction. Scare zones don't require the amount of work as a house (at least I don't think so), I'm sure they can whip something up.

I assume you mean 17? I completely agree with your point.

I checked on this and found out that the tacky tourists have not been instructed to stop photography. They have been instructed to attack anyone that stops walking and chat them up, whether the people have a camera or not.

Security on the other hand, has been instructed to stop any photography of construction areas. Silly I know. I can only assume it is a "give them an inch and they will take a mile" policy regarding the photographers. There are people that will stand in precarious positions to get the best picture if they think they can get away with it.

Hadn't seen this at all. The places where they congregate don't seem to have many photo op spots, anyway (last time I walked through the Hall of Posters I noticed just one crack). Figured it was just entertainment to make up for the dead space.

Poor choice of words on my part. By 'attack', I meant they are looking to entertain anyone that seems idle in order to make up for the dead space. Think of the actors too, they are probably trying their best to justify being there and might seem a bit over-zealous at times. I would suggest asking them to take a picture of you standing in front of the construction wall and hold the camera up really really high above their heads for dramatic effect.

It's not that they had one big scarezone that year it's that they claimed the whole park would be a scarezone when that was farthest from what happened. I think there was one horde, 1 designated SZ (Macabre), and other scarezones that existed but weren't on the map (i.e. Treaks, NY, chainsaws). I think HHN 18 did a significantly better job of quelling "dead" space in the streets, that year we had 6 designated zones, 2 hordes, and the Mirror Men.

It is possible we could see smaller scare zones like Saws and Steam that consist of a small "Float" they could wheel on and off stage.

Thou if done right I really thing the roaming hordes could works. When I went to CoC I never saw the roaming hordes because I tend to go on Thursdays and I only went once that year.

So, word form the auditions is 8 houses and 7 zones, or 7 houses and 8 zones, depending on who you ask.

I think 7 houses 7 zones is correct (unless you count the double run house)..
3 SS (double run included)
2 Sprung
1 Parade
1 Disaster

as for zones 8 would be awesome but I think 7 is more realistic with all the construction

^^^^Well, I'd count a dual run as 2 houses, so 8 houses and 7 zones. And that's about what I figured as well. Although I think SS33 might be a house instead of the parade building.

It'd be interesting to see the Scarezone placement with the new parade and all the construction going on in the park.
