The tough reality is they've screwed themselves over. The base expectation of what HHN should pull is now entirely skewed due to Walking Dead. They'll never be able to top or even meet it with any other property.

Hate isn't wrong in that the suits will misinterpret the numbers and start cutting as a result. Just sucks that they built themselves into such a corner.

Yep...They will search though...

On another side, HOS has a terrible budget and they tend to be the more frightening event...

Name one thing no business ever said: "We screwed ourselves by making the event bigger and more profitable". Yes they will have to work harder and look for other means to continue to bring people in, but for better or worse WD brought in a new group of fans to HHN. Many of which will continue to come long after WD is gone. I totally get that it has changed what HHN was, but I am betting that is ok with Uni seeing the success its been.

An' on another side, you have to wonder how long that'll last? After all, HOS's creative director was one of the casulties of the layoffs amongst SWP&E due to their budget problems. (Not to mention another person with a lot of say creative-wise is no longer with Tampa but up in Williamsburg now.) Add in the various cutbacks during regular daytime operations, and you can't help but wonder how much is going to cut into the event.

The BGW fan sites are saying that their horror nights & Christmas Holiday dates are going to be cut this year. That probably indicates the same for BGT.

I never ever would want to see that day but hhn not pulling in crowds. I don't see that as a reality. Let along it's the biggest event that sales the most alcohol.

Does anyone think the event has started to make cuts over the year? And if so is it having an effect?

Well, budget cuts happen every year...even with the immense growth...it's a phenomenon of business

Sometimes however a lowered/cut budget, sparks more creativity...

Side note: I am very worried about HOS this year (if it even happens)...I was speaking of the years before

Would be a shame if HoS was cut as it offered a great alternative for haunt fans.

Fun Fact: Never been to HoS.

I thought HoS had already been confirmed and dates given out?

I loved it last year. If anything it was a tad over busy.

So far though the walking dead this season has been just miserable walking and eating dead animals, I don't think it'll return. They basically did all they could really do with it anyways

I agree, but also like Fallow said, wouldn't surprise me if they had it one more year (cash cow and all). I was excited about last year because they had so much material from the previous season. If they do one this year, creative is going to make their money to make it interesting.

I'd like to believe they changed it due to the fact that my opening weekend streak would have been broken.
