Do you think the event will ever get to the point where they don't have to promote everything so much? I mean, we are going into year 26. The crowds almost nightly are insane. It seems like a lot of people are returning guests that come just for HHN. Would love to see some of the marketing budget get handed over to A&D to create even bigger and better houses.

I think the main reason HHN is as successful as ever is from the heavy promotion. They're killing it on all levels and the hype only adds to the experience.

By the way, stranger things for 27 anybody?

Stranger things would be great with the soundtrack playing throughout.

I say instead of a house they do a Stranger Things overlay of E.T. for HHN27.

Well, that's the thing. The crowds weren't crazy when they weren't doing IP-heavy, generic but heavy, nation-wide advertising that's developed predominantly by Marketing. Now that they're doing that, the crowds are crazy. Looks to me like it works and achieves what Universal wants.

That's the thing. HHN isn't a passion project. It's a business. A&D has passion about it, but the event was devised to draw crowds during the down period. Those crowds mean more money. To make decisions that would decrease those crowds would be the exact opposite of what HHN is actually intended to do. Why would they do that?

The chances of it happening are minute, but it would be interesting. The best way to do it though would be:

Enter through Hawkins Lab and the Gate and basically just spend the entire time in the Upside-Down. Have the finale be breaking through the Upside-Down into the Byers house with a flaming demigorgan.

There's really only Hawkins Lab, the school, the Byers house for "scares" in the real world. It would need to be the Upside-Down to carry a whole house. Unless a season 2 gives us a lot more.

This is how I envision a Stranger Things house:

Scenes 1 and 2: Byers House
Scenes 3: The Lab
Scene 4: Enter the Upside Down
Scenes 5-8: The Upside Down
Scene 9: School Hallway
Scene 10: Finale in the Classroom

There's more than enough material for a house.

Hollywood is seeming all but confirmed thanks to a façade being extremely similar to the film's.

A sci fi horror show on Netflix. Set in the 80s so it has nostalgia and just all around good show.

Imagine Steven Speilberg directing a Stephen King version of Twin Peaks-lite and you've got Stranger Things.

Stranger things is better than most things, would kill to see it at HHN. The upside down alone was made for it.

But back to this year, Hollywood announced a house will be announced this week. Any word if it's a krampus cross announcement?

Hollywood's next announcement is Doris Day (which was supposed to be announced last week but was pushed back); as Doris Day is an exclusive.

That being said, everything seems to line up that Doris Day is Freddy vs. Jason.

I thought Stranger Things was spectacular, but am I the only one who thinks it shouldn't be a house, at least until they get more material to work with, there's one creature and a handful of different rooms, they should wait before considering it

It won't happen. Netflix is unique in that they don't have to advertise their original programming. While they do advertise some stuff, it's minimal compared to network television and is tied to advertising the Netflix service. Think about how TWD is advertised versus House of Cards. It's the same way HBO supports little-watched but ridiculously good shows (like the Leftovers) well beyond other channels.

Universal can go to AMC, FX, and other networks or studios and say "we can give you X number impressions and additional market influence if you let us use your show." That's the leverage they get. They don't really have that leverage with premium channels. The only thing could put on the table is more money, and it wouldn't be worth it for something on a subscription-based network (especially one not owned by Comcast).

Nope. It was a re-telling of the movie. Aiello got script late in game, interpreted house best they could, and found out most the scenes he liked and included were cut and too late to change out.

Which is a shame, the movie suggested by the house seemed a lot more interesting.

Who isn't?! I can barely take it any longer. It's been quiet far too long.
