No 3D house. The insistence that there HAS to be one was always rather silly to me. Same with the insistence that there HAS to be comedy house or HAS to be a sequel to an original. Simply put: No, they don't.

Although I am trying to convince A&D to make the vampire house a Legendary Truth investigation because it would actually make a lot of sense.

I do miss an annual comedy house, tho I wasn't sure if Ash might sort of fill that role. But completely agree 3-D houses work best when you have at least 2 years between them.

The 3D talk has me thinking back to all of the 3-D HHN houses I've experienced. IMO, the majority were sub-par to awful. However, I really did enjoy The In-Between in 2011. Jack's Funhouse (2007) and Alice in Wonderland (2015) were both decent. The others were really bad. I think a 3-D house once every 3-4 years would suffice.

To me, The In-Between will always be the gold standard of 3D houses. Instead of using the technique to create a goofy or cartoony landscape, they used it to play with your senses and really heighten the fear and disorientation in the house. They tried to capture that feeling again with Afterlife in 2013, but it honestly paled in comparison.

I know that everyone loved Alice, but I have to be honest that it didn't really gel with me. Can't quite put my finger on why, that's just my personal opinion.

All in all, I'm also glad we're getting a break from 3D this year. In its place it sounds like we're getting some truly great originals.

Yeah, no 3D house and no Walking Dead this year. So that's a nice change and breath of fresh air.

I did enjoy the Alice house but I was not feeling Chance's house last year.

And regarding the rocks... it's not a facade unless Universal is going a wildly different direction with Hive (the vampire house's code name that I've already alluded to) than I'm anticipating. My guess? It's a shot of the same banshee props that have been seen out there before.

Do you know if Hive is something different Universal hasn't done with vampires before/a new concept for vampires? Or should we expect another rehash of vampire lore.

I think the vampires will all have a sparkle effect applied to their skin.

No. I think there is some sort of update and reveal but it won't be the whole event.

Remember the originals, scare zones, and shows weren't announced till late August in 2015.
