Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but i remember seeing the website say that you dont need a park ticket or hhn ticket to go on a unmasking the horror tour, is that true?

Correct! The tours happen during the day, so no HHN ticket is needed. And you enter from outside the park, last year check-in was at the former Blue Man Group theater. After the tour is over, they take you to the group sales/VIP tour building at the studio entrance where you either exit the park, or if you have a park ticket, they can scan it and you can go back in.

I was finally able to get my dates set up and I went to the website to get my 6 House Unmasking The Horror tour and it appears that almost the entire event is already booked up. Is this some kind of error? Anyone know what is going on?
We just saw this the other day too. No clue how they are booked solid through pretty much the end of October and multinight tickets aren't even for sale...3 house tours are still available, but was going to call them and see if something is up, or are people just ravenous for this all of a sudden?
Please let us know what you hear. I haven’t bought my unmasking tour tickets yet and the 6 house is gone.

I noticed last week when I went to book mine and emailed with the viptours email and they recommended calling. So I called and I was told they filled up very early this year and they were being cautious so they didn't overbook. They told me that if there is enough demand they will start adding additional time slots to certain days. They put me on a waitlist. So the more people that call the more chances of additional tours opening. Not sure if it's a guide shortage thing or if the demand really has grown over the years

That is true. You check in at the BMG theater, the guide takes you on the tour. Generally, they'll check tickets at the end to see if they can let you loose in the park or if they need to escort you back to the theater.

I got my 6 tour for 10/17/21 on July 10 of last year, I don't recall the calendar filling up that fast back then. Just noticed dates for October are pretty much sold out :(. Was going to book mine at the end of the month. Do they ever release more spots? I've done the 6 house tour the last 3 years and really enjoyed it.

Yeah I have done it the last 5 years and always booked mid July without an issue. I've learned my lesson. Never waiting again.
The way it was explained to me when I emailed viptours@universal (operations) that they can't just add more times. They need enough people to call on the phone (sales) and then if there are enough people to fill additional tours then sales will tell ops to add more tour time slots.

I’ll be calling tomorrow

Sorry if this is leaning a bit off this year, but with the FFL venue now seemingly here to stay for a little while longer, I'm curious to see whether they stick with the F&F queue or go back to using the MIB tent.

Just to add to this I imagine it will be far busier this year as its the first time in 3 years people can travel in properly from overseas.

We should have been there 2020, it rolled over to 2021 and now 2022. Potentially 3 years of holiday goers all at once.

Its the same for us, we paid to come in 2020, didnt get to go last year and finally getting there in 2022.

We are from the UK

If anything, maybe they'll finally decide to go with 11 houses and use both. Although, the Shrek 4D replacement should be open by then - so that will provide another location. 12 houses, who says no?

I'm doing my first UTH Tour this year - I booked it literally the day they went on sale. We were supposed to our first in 2020, but ya know ..

Sounds very much like they anticipate a shortage of guides, which makes sense given the situation at WDW.

I am booking now. On the website I see an ad for a dedicated entrance for hotel guests. I can't see which hotels have it and how it works. Has anybody used that before? Last year we stayed at Sapphire so we just took the boat over.

It's a big power vacuum too. A lot of the guides are on Temp Assignments from other lines of business that are also very needed for HHN. Most of them come from Entrance Ops or Entrance Pass Sales, and those departments don't really hire seasonal TMs, due to the training. So they end up hiring more Casual TMs, which have a much higher attrition rate. So yeah, bit of a domino effect.

I think they'll add far more guides, but staffing & training guides is a challenge, even for HHN it's about a 2-3 week training class. For daytime ops it's like a 4 week class.

@jseal777 Dedicated Hotel Guest info is going to be by Guest Services. I don't think it's that much faster, but it is nice to have.

It doesn't matter which hotel, as far as I know. In the past it has been to the right of the arches, but at least last year it was by Blue Man. Basically you just flash your hotel room key and then you are put up near the entrance by Minions/RRR. You beat the major rush of gate crowds and don't have to worry about scanning in (they already do that before you enter the pen), so it can save some time. If you are interested in the opening Scareamonies don't do it, because you won't get a great view/view at all, but you can at least see some of the characters coming out.

Also also worth noting, only one person in the group has to actually be staying on site, as they only made us show one room key and let the whole group in. We all were staying onsite, but it makes me think if you saved a room key and just flashed it quick you might be able to enter this area without actually staying on site at all...something I would NEVER DO...promise....we'll see how the crowds look at the gate...
