Gringotts..where do I start.

Okay got there at 6:50.
Parked got to the (NON Hotel guests line) at about 7:15.

Started single file line then woman came and said spread out at gate .
They escorted the crowd behind a yellow line ( i thought this was a terrible very stupid idea by universal)
During that time, saw a few kids and adults get trampled. I went from being near front to being in the middle/back.
Luckily I had a short friend who manages to stay in the front.
Chose not to do return time ticket since she was in the front.
We walked right into Diagon Alley after about 7 minutes of waiting.
Walked straight to Gringotts as I had already seen Diagon.
Got to the entrance, posted wait time was 240 minutes.
Walked to get in line and turned around because we thought it would take forever.
Walked to Leaky Cauldron but found the breakfast severely overpriced.
Went back to Gringotts, 210 minute posted wait so we got in line.
Through out the length of queue the wait time built up to 300 as I saw.
It was about 8:20-30 ish when I got in line. Didn't get off of the ride until 1:13 PM.
Wouldn't dare wait more than 40 minutes for this short ride. So I'll likely wont ride it for years to come.
That being said, it's the best ride I've ever been on!
The 3D on this ride is actually pretty awesome.
Its not a roller coaster (Needs its own classification) but it is the most thrilling ride at Universal just far too short!
Love the new technology. This ride is a must do at least once.

Only thing was difficult for me to follow the story because it all was a blur and I'm not a dedicated Harry fan.

Very very friendly enjoyable ride. Universal needs more of these innovative attractions! Hopefully so!

To Add , Gringotts changed my favorites at the UOR resort. Top 5 now:

1. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
2. Escape from Gringotts (If more roller coaster ish it would be my favorite)
3. Mummy
4. Popeye
5. Men In Black

(I like Forbidden Journey but the Robot Arm twirls a bit too much to enjoy it.)

So at what time did you actually get into diagon alley. Were they letting in non hotel guests before 8 ?

Wow. You called it your favorite ride ever, then immediately made a list showing that it's not even your favorite ride in the park. To make matters worse, you listed it under a ride that doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath.

Also, Gringotts IS a roller coaster. There's an easy two-part test for that:

1.) Does it roll?
2.) Does it coast?

Short and sweet review of Gringotts:

Got to ride it 3 times tonight since it broke down on the first 2 tries. 3rd time went perfectly and I LOVED every second of it, especially any part with Bellatrix. Team Members were great and working hard and I could tell they were frustrated at the ride not working and felt bad for us guests. Overall, I need a few more rides to definitively say, but I think it's my favorite ride at the resort. It is a perfect mixture of Spider-Man and Mummy. I actually thought it was a bit more thrilling than Mummy due to the spinning on the coaster sections, which were fantastic. Overall, great job Universal

Oh and if you have long legs don't ride the ride. I'm 6'ft even, ride hurt my legs and knees like hell. That turned me off about it but when you become fully immersed in the journey you forget about it. While loading , if you are tall, you will feel it. I assure you.

Now you have me worried. I'm 6'5" and have been on basically everything FL has to offer, never had an issue. Should I be concerned that I might not be able to ride this attraction that I've been anticipating for years now? If so, Uni can forget about the 2 Premiere AP's I was about to buy.

You'll probably be okay. I'm seriously hoping it was because I was on the back row. It was a guy taller than I on the front row and he didnt seem to have much problems or he just didnt say anything. I just imagine it would hurt a bit more for people with longer legs. Best thing to do is TEST the test seats. I tested the test seats and I my light would not go green for ish. I saw one guy get turned down to ride while I was in the queue at the station. So IDK.

Non Hotel guests had to wait in the Hollywood area for about 45-50 minutes. (We were let in the park at 7:55 sharp) The actual walk back to the Diagon Alley lines next to the Guest Services booth by MIB took about 5-7 minutes. Then they held us for another 5-10 minutes. Me being the first 50-60 people we were into Diagon Alley at about 8:10 8:15 Ish.

I not once called it my favorite ride ever. I said most thrilling and best ride ever. If you have not ride it yet, youll see why I say what I say. It's very fun, love the way the carts split up as if you were watching a movie side by side the other guests in some of the sets, its more of a show with special affects on a roller coaster track. No need to be malicious in your typing, I know it's a roller coaster I'm not a dummy. I listed rockit as my favorite ride at UOR because it's more of a roller coaster than Gringotts is to me.I Certinly wish Gringotts was more coaster! It's a matter of personal opinion, sorry if you ride wasnt in my list,( not really).

This is part of the real vault set that goes to the conceptual drawing I posted earlier.

This link should work.

This is EXACTLY what I was talking about earlier in regards to what is film and what is real physical set. When I rode it I swear I thought those vaults were FILM! Everything blends so perfectly in this ride.

Yeah, I honestly felt this was the most immersive experience I have ever been on. Not once could i see a screen edge and everything ran together perfectly. I'll be curious so see what I can find once I've ridden it a few times. This is why its better than FJ in my book. The kuka arm is fun but this experience fully draws you in from start to finish.

In that pic I love the track above your head and how there is a second row of vaults above you. Since the show building is very tall but the ride mostly takes place near the ground it gives them plenty of room to envelope you with the sets.

My fault. I was confused that a ride you consider the "best" ride wouldn't be your "favorite" ride, though I can kind of follow.

You did however plainly say that it was not a coaster in your post.

Wow, that's an incredible set. Looks truly beautiful! That's as spoiler-ey as I want to go though, so I must go back to my hole in the ground and resist the urge to look at anything else from the inside.

If I did, that's on me. I should have said it didn't feel like "Traditional Roller Coaster". With the stops and turns and twists and swivels, it's more than a roller coaster with not enough coasting I guess? >.Thats just how good the ride tech is lol!

What does that have to do with price of tea in China? The 3D and the screen quality is beautiful on this ride. I just think the actual ride itself fell short of it's incredibly high expectations.

You should be fine, the issues are more with people with bigger guts and bellies. The restraint can't go all the way down on people who may have a gut and TMs can't let them ride.

Also, another note. I saw multiple bigger guys not even able to ride it after waiting 5 hours because of the restraints. That is NOT good at all IMO. The ride isn't even that thrilling to justify restraints that keep people from riding. In general, Diagon Alley is amazing but Gringotts is a hot steaming mess.

I finally got my first ride in last night. Two of the three cars ahead of mine were held up a bit on loading because the restraints couldn't fit on larger guests sitting in the front row. They had the first row riders switch with the third row riders (where I imagine a modified seat is) and both of the larger guys (both in gut and height) were able to ride. I'm not sure why they're not doing a better job of spotting this during the queue and sorting people into rows initially because it definitely slows down an already slow process.

That said, I too wasn't blown away, but the wait and the operational breakdowns were a big factor in shaping my opinion. It's hard to lop all of that off and put yourself in the situation of someone who enters a line, moves at a steady pace, and gets to ride at the allotted waiting time or sooner the way it is at nearly every other UOR attraction. It's probably not much of a stretch to think that the longer you wait in line -- and the more operational breakdowns take place stalling your path to ride -- the shorter you perceive the ride to be. It felt way too short and light on thrills (but up to the test in terms of immersion) for me, but it wouldn't surprise me if the same exact ride may leave a different and more favorable impression on me if the next time I go it's a quicker loading experience.

Pretty well said. It's why I don't want to truly compare Gringotts to any other ride without a better pre ride experience.

I waited over 3 hours on openning and thought it was worth the hype. The experience felt seamless and thrilling. One negative aspect that I had was that because we were in the single rider line I missed everything from the queue and was a little confused about the story. Namely Bill and the Goblin. When I reride next week,
I think I will get a better grasp.
