Just read the Diagon Alley Discussion thread and so far nothing...only seen a picture of where the dragon's supposed to be and it's still not there. *sigh*

As someone who is known to bail off of rides last minute, Gringotts, while it has me excited, also has me nervous. I know they're stressing "family friendly," but I don't know if I will handle it, lol. Does anyone know what kind of drops this thing will have?

IIRC it was suggested somewhere that the biggest drop could be compared to the drop on MK's Pirates. I doubt the overall intensity will be higher than something like Big Thunder.

edit - to expand a bit... Guests enter the queue at ground level and only move up via a staircase before the station. There's no lift hill before the first drop according to leaked info (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so in theory the max drop height is limited to about what the staircase height is. I suppose the staircase could be ridiculously high, but it's doubtful. If anything, it'll probably be closer to Mummy's stairs, since they're both used for the same reason (to enable a drop without a lift hill). And Mummy's first drop is pretty tame.

Hope that helps

I'm right there with you, my friend. You know that "Don't ride if you have any of these conditions" list at forbidden journey? I have half of those. I went on it once and did okay but won't go on it again. Last year I went on Star Tours(which I'd done multiple times before) and hurt my back. Damn Pod racing! I couldn't do any rides for the rest of the day. But I'm old and with more than a few health issues. I'm really hoping for a tamer less jolting Gringotts so I can go multiple times but I don't have my hopes up. I wonder if they'll have a tour like the Hogwarts castle tour.

I'm sure they will have a tour...If not just wait in line for the ride and "chicken out" when you get to the end of the queue and exit.:P But, with a 42' height requirement I wouldn't expect anything more intense that Transformers or Spidey. (I may be wrong)

that usa today article made my day

- - - Updated - - -

here is the re-iteration that it is more family friendlty

It's clearly very different from Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a wildly popular ride at Hogsmeade. The distinguishing factor: Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts "is thrilling and dynamic, but not as dynamic as Forbidden Journey because we wanted everyone to be able to ride it."

After all, Harry Potter's fan base is broad, from bespectacled 8-year-olds to wand-wielding tweens to soccer moms and dads. A huge chunk of the fan base, of course, is the young-adult crowd.

And the video contains the confirmation that the goblins can recognise guests and interact with them. That is just ridiculously cool!

Someone actually called it way back when the first video of the goblins was released by Universal (the one immediately after the Today Show one), when the first close-up of a face was shown. Whoever that was way back in this thread, props!

That article and video from USA Today was everything! Even the quick shot of the bank interior with the vault doors :doggie:

Count me impressed! I knew there would be many signs, but geeez, and so high up! I think a few of the outdoor lighting fixtures might be real antiques, otherwise I am impressed if they are not.

Finally, so cool to finally see the staircase to nowhere. Makes up for the alley they designed out of Hogsmeade.

Did anyone notice the floor of Gringoots? It has holes in it for what I would guess is the queue chains. I haven't seen them in the bank before today.

Thanks! If the drop is as big as Pirates, then that's no sweat. I just don't like that the track is supposed to drop from underneath the cars, lol.

Yes, I noticed that too. Since the bank is a large open space I figured too it's for the poles to go for the line to follow.

In Hogsmeade? The original 2007 concept art had an alley that shot straight into the location of the current bathrooms. A year later, the same painting was over-painted, removing the alley. I cannot find the original from 2007 on da goog right at the moment.
