So if you wait 6 hours to ride EFG and it breaks down while you're on it, do the TM's let you ride again so you get a full ride experience or are you out of luck? I know this depends on what kind of "Break Down" it is, the ride could just stop during a scene and continue... or a full evac would be a different story. Just curoious...

Im really curious about this too.

I Would lose my mind if they tell you to go after 6 hours

Milla, sorry for your forgettable experience. I hope you do get to ride it without having to wait so long in line, and without any breakdowns because I think you'll have a better opinion of it.

I had a similar experience with FJ four years ago, but not quite as bad. I came away thinking the ride was overrated, but it's probably because I had set my expectations way too high and also because I waited for 3 hours, after another near 3 hour wait to get into Hogsmead. Needless to say there's no 4 minute ride in the world that can impress someone who just finished waiting for 6 hours, mostly in the muggy hot humidity of Florida.

I eventually started liking FJ more and more, although I feel Gringotts is already better.

I'm glad you were finally able to ride and yeah, with a normal wait you should definitely get a better gauge. If I waited 5 hours for a ride, it would have to be life-changing.

How big were the guys that were being rejected?

One of them was a big biker guy with a bit of a gut and another was a tall guy who wasn't that chubby or anything. I know they have test seats out there, but I can see how it is easy to miss them in the chaos of trying to get in line. Plus, the fact bigger people can't get on this ride is not a good thing for Universal. They made the ride tame to allow younger guests to ride but now older bigger people can't board because of restraints. I think they should be looking at some sort of solution for it.

In all, the ride was cool but it was a frustrating day to wait so long and keep hearing about it break down. I overheard a TM say the ride went down at least 10 times before I even boarded. I had sit for 5 minutes as they had difficulties after boarding too. But I'm just thankful I experienced the ride in it's entirety without it breaking down. I really hope Universal fixes the issues because I saw a LOT of angry people today. Including someone who claimed they'd never return to Universal and that this would never happen at Disney. I know the ride just opened and there will be some bugs to work through with the ride being so advanced, but it feels like it really isn't ready to handle the amount of guests Universal is getting but they had no real choice but to open it to the public.

The ride wasn't unsafe for riders when it allowed guests - but the derail did happen. Not "fly off the tracks into a wall!" derail, but a car did become partially unhinged from the track. There were other major issues, too, that weren't reported... Those were sorted out.

The computer/software issues weren't. Bottom line is OI turned out to be right, whether or not anyone here wants to admit it (or try and change the narrative or whatever). The ride's an operational mess. It'll get there - eventually. But this isn't "good" by any stretch of the imagination.

That said, when it works, I've heard only wonderful things about the ride, and I can't wait to experience it.

OI wasn't the first to report of the operational issues. Just sayin'.

They were the ones that were willing to report the derail, the extent to which Gringotts was falling behind (and word it however you want, that's what happened), and the possibility that the area could open without Gringotts being ready (which happened in the form of publicly acknowledged softs after some tense negotiations between Uni and WB/JKR). If Creative had their way this thing would not be open right now.

I don't mean to start a big argument about this - I don't swear allegiance to either site, I enjoy them both. OU has gotten plenty of scoops and a majority of the interwebs acknowledges that. But let's suck in our pride and acknowledge that some here were trashing a site for reporting detailed info that turned out to be accurate.

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to say "WE HAD IT FIRST!!!".

My point was that other sites had the story before OI had reported issues. Not also trying to start any issues. I was just saying I'll give credit where credit is due.

I believe that OI also said it wouldn't be open on July 8th.

I don't want to make this thread any more derailed (no pun intended), let's get back to Gringotts.

In one of the podcasts hate mentioned the launch is tire driven for a specific reason. Was that reason ever explained?

This actually reminds me of Everest's first month or so. They did have it up to capacity, but it keep shutting down. It took Imagineering forever to figure out that the steam and fog effects were messing with the sensors. That is why a lot of the fog effects inside the mountain are turned off and you can see the infrastructure.

Sorry if this has been asked, but could someone tell me how much the Gringotts security ID photo badge costs and if they think its worth it. It looks cool in the videos and photos I've seen. Thanks.

Have a feeling a tomorrow will be a make it or break it day for UOR. If they can't fix their issues they should really close down the ride for a week. 5 hours and 20+ break downs/evacs should be considered unacceptable. The public opinion moves quick these days.

Nah, they will NEVER shut it down... they have played that game and it didn't work. They need to have the pressure of guests and WB and everything else resting on their shoulders. I agree that it is bad, and unacceptable, but idiots continue to get in line. People who know the drill.

I was thinking in line today they should consider shutting it down to fix it 100%, but they won't unless it gets sooooo bad they have no choice. The public backlash they'd get for closing Gringotts back down so quickly is worse than the public backlash for the awful lines and constant breakdowns. It's a mess, but they're going to have to work through it. I'm just glad I got it out of the way, can't wait to try it without the wait.

I think a few people here need to listen to a couple of older podcasts to see where OI got a lot of info.while your doing that check the dates. Also this Gringotts derailment thing is horse ****. If everyone really knew what happened they'd all face palm to how far this has been blown out of proportion. They decided LATE in the game a few changes needed to be made. Those changes while inconvenient and annoying now will pay off big time for everyone once all the bugs are worked out. It sucks I know as everyone is dying to ride but remember this is a business and they made the call to open it at less than full capacity. Take your emotions and personal feelings aside and remember its a business. They made the right move plain and simple.

I agree, and I never said anything about the derailment. But I'm just saying, the ride isn't ready yet but Universal was backed into a corner to open it up. Seeing it first hand this morning was an eye opener. I was really hoping by going super early I'd minimize my wait to like 2 hours and I could get it out of the way but I quickly realized I made a mistake by coming but I had to tough out that line since I already made the trip and was in line. This isn't totally Universal's fault, there is no way they could have the official Diagon Alley opening with no Gringotts and running it on low capacity was the right call, but it's a mess for the time being. I just can't wait to see things get fixed out and go back to experience it in a more pleasant manner.

Hey guys! Calm down! All of the issues will be worked out soon and everyone will forget the growing pains that every state of the art ride experiences. Trust me Universal I'm sure is doing everything they can and working around the clock to make the experience seamless. The coulda woulda shoulda is behind us. It's open and there's no turning back. Universal has a big stake in making sure this ride is right so calm down!!!! Calm down... It's not that serious and it will get worked out! Calm down!!!

Yeah these discussions shift from " When will it open!?!" to " It's not open to my liking!!"

Give it a rest, discuss the ride and its amazing properties. The fact people are complaining about waits, capacity, and other mundane details is just silly. It hasn't even been open a week and people are nit picking... Let UO sort out their toothpicks...
