I've always been one to enjoy many of the houses for different reasons. For example, the beauty of Blood moon, the atmosphere in the Exorcist house, the energy of the Yeti house so it makes it hard for me to anticipate much of anything ;)

I really just wanted to say I do anticipate this year. I recall for many years I had wished they had more originals than IP houses as I tend to be more impressed with more of the originals than I do for the IP houses over the years (though each year tends to have one IP that nails it).

There are things I look forward to this year. This is the first year I know a few people working the event so this is more based on what hype 'inside/grain of salt info' folks seem to be pushing this year.

Not knowing what folks consider 'scary', having someone say that 'Insidious is scary with the lights on' intrigues me.

I am curious about 'a quiet place' for folks seem to be making a point to mention it is in a sound stage by itself, keeping it more isolated than if it shared a sound stage, besides, I enjoyed the movie!

Having someone say the change in layout at F&F is in response to fan feedback has me wonder what they did.

nothing major -- just some small talk w/ some kids working their first job -- the stuff I mentioned sounded like talking points to me so I figured it is info meant to be shared.

I'm sure I'm gonna change my mind in the next few days, but-

1. The Museum: Deadly Exhibits- sounds like an awesome idea. I'm hoping for a special-effects extravaganza and I'm prepared to see some things I've never seen before.

2. A Quiet Place- Alien vs. Predator 2014 vibes with am extra decade of experience and innovations. I'm sold.

3. Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines- The series has only gotten stronger during the mainline narrative (Unmasked doesn't count lol) and I can see this one being talked about a decade later if it continued to take big swings.

4. Slaughter Sinema 2- H.R. Bloodngutz (kinda) + Slaughter Sinema. Probably will land comfortably in my Top 20, so I'm more excited for the sleeper hits.

5. Monstruous- I'm worried about this one. A take on one of Hollywood's strongest haunts at an event that arguably avoids most of Hollywood's strengths. Hoping for From Dusk Till Dawn vibes with the sets, so I'm not worried there, but I am worried about an over-reliance on actors to portray the monsters and not enough cool effects to support them.

6. Insidious: Into The Further- Was more excited before this was announced as a villain mashup. I'm hoping this one is scary, and utilizes darkness in a smart way like The Black Phone- but could also be a snoozefest with too much emphasis on The Red Door imagery.

7. Triplets of Terror- Sounds like a fun idea for a gore house, but maybe a little more Rob Zombie than Psychoscareapy: Home for the Holidays or Halloween. Still optimistic- but I'm hoping for more of a fun, suburban slasher than a sleazefest.

8. Goblin's Feast- I anticipate this being a HUGE sleeper hit. I have 0 clue on what to expect, so I'm keeping it that way in hopes of being blown away!

9. Major Sweets Candy Factory- Saws 'n' Steam but candy? I'm all for exploring previous original ideas, and I'm not even worried about the "new" F&F location. There's just not much about this concept that intrigues me, personally. Again, I'm optimistic for the results, but I'm far more excited for other ideas.

10. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire- Stranger Things 4 has given me 0 hope for big-budget IPs. Let's hope they've learned and these effects are mindblowing.

  1. Triplets of Terror — Universal inventing their own slasher? Something they haven’t done since the 90s? Yes I’m excited about this. I absolutely adore slashers, they are my guilty pleasure. And I can’t wait for an HHN original slasher.
  2. Slaughter Sinema 2 — The first is one of my favorite houses ever. This would be number one if it wasn’t for the fact I always worry about the sequel not being as good as the original. But huge shark puppet makes me excited and honestly the scenes sound amazing. Mummy Strippers anyone?
  3. The Museum: Deadly Exhibits — Love the idea of a museum house. And honestly there is something about the concept that just disturbs me for some reason. Other houses have sibling mutilating a whole town of people, yet the stone that rots everything is more disturbing to me for some reason. Could be that the slasher concept is a far more used trope than “stone that rots things.”
  4. Major Sweets Candy Factory — I am excited about evil Willy Wonka house. Not excited about location. But here’s hoping they make it work. The did it with The Black Phone. Can they do it here? I’m just disappointed that there may be no big set pieces here. It’s a candy factory! I want big set pieces. But who knows. The HHN team has pulled incredible feats with limited space before. And bigger isn’t always better (looking at you Stranger Things at 29).
  5. Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America — I’m very much into urban legends and this house is Latin American urban legends. Many of which I’ve learned of over the years. I loved Chupacabra even with them going in their own direction. I don’t see them doing the same thing here, but it’s always worth mentioning these monsters are myths so some form a interpretation is expected.
  6. Goblin’s Feast — My least anticipated of the original but since the original are almost always my favorites every year, that’s not a bad thing. I just am unsure of the concept. Many consider it high concept but I’m not sure how anyone can quantify that. It’s goblins and orcs in a tavern. I don’t think I consider that high concept. Still I am excited about this house as I’ve been playing a lot of Baldur’s Gate 3 lately so I am still excited to go through it.
  7. Insidious: The Further — The first Insidious house was from 25 and that is still my favorite event year for HHN. And Insidious was a great house. Great sets, scares were clever, and just an all around intense atmosphere. My love for that house leaves me equally excited and hesitant for the house. Could be too much of a repeat or the perfect sequel house. Can’t wait to find out.
  8. Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines — having loved all the previous houses, I’m still excited for this, but disappointment in still no Gill-man puts it closer to the bottom. It’s repeating vampires and the Bride again. I love the Bride to death but she got her house and it was great. Still at least we have new characters with Helsing and She-Wolf I believe? And the premise sounds like a blast as well. So still excited but where’s my Gill-Man Universal? Where… Is… He… Uni… Versal?
  9. A Quiet Place — No idea how this premise will work with a conga line let alone a regular group but I’m curious. However it being an experimental idea gives me both pause and excitement. We’ll have to see with this one. Still, I’m please to see them attempt something different instead just another HHN house. Always prefer them to try then stay stagnant even if I don’t mind the formula and still love it every year. Always nice to have a shake-up. Can’t wait to see it.
  10. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire — I haven’t seen the movie yet but opinions seem to differ on it. Doesn’t matter. The house executing matters and since I haven’t seen the movie yet, hard to get excited. I liked the OG house but it isn’t one of my favorites, IP or otherwise so that plays a part in it as well.

Agreed with @FaceBagman , this year is providing quite the varied list from everyone!

So last year was one of the hardest anticipated lists for me to make, and in ways I'm thankful this year wasn't as hard for me. As a preface, I'm fine with all ten houses here. Each one has the opportunity to be fun in their own way, and for the most part it's truly up to the casts to bring each one to life, and they can always take a concept that's near the bottom and send it way to the top. (Last year's Exorcist: Believer was a prime example.) And conversely, a weak cast can also drag a house down no matter the concept.

Also, my actual #1 anticipated house is never placed at #1. I'm a firm believer that overhype is usually self-inflicted, so I keep my expectations in check and it's honestly worked every time! Hard to be disappointed if you don't put your expectations too high. An if something does disappoint, that's incredibly telling on its quality! Without further ado, from the bottom up...

10.) Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - While I did enjoy the original house in 2019, it did weaken over the weeks as casts dropped out and effects broke down, and since I've got an idea of what to expect along with an array of concepts I find more intriguing, this is a pretty easy house to place in the 10th spot.

9.) Major Sweets Candy Factory - Sweet Revenge from 2022 is hands down my favorite NY zone, a very fun concept that was a manic party that was great to hang out in. I'm definitely looking forward to this one, though there's a lot of unknowns since I've been told from someone in the know that this house is weird (hard to say if it's a good weird or a bad one.), and then there's the big unknown of how it'll all work in F&F with the new layout.

8.) A Quiet Place - I think it's safe to say this is the definitive "Dark Horse" house this year. As the core concept alone goes against your typical haunted house in so many ways! It'll be interesting to see if they can pull it off, either way this is no doubt a big risk, which I honestly applaud HHN for taking it on! Even with this event being one of the biggest in the world, they should still be taking risks and I'm happy they are.

7.) Goblin's Feast - I do enjoy a nice medieval fantasy kind of theme, and Dueling Dragon's was pretty fun. This could provide some pretty cool set pieces and costumes, and I look forward to seeing how the new sprung tents are!

6.) Triplets of Terror - This feels like another curveball/wildcard house, and I'm totally here for it! An original slasher drawn up from A&D can be a lot of fun and all sorts of f'd up, so I'm looking forward to this one quite a bit!

5.) Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines - When this house was first rumored, I wasn't sure what to think. But once the synopsis was revealed, I'm more excited for this one! It's giving me vibes of Legends Collide which was honestly one of the more intense Universal Monsters houses they've done, if the ladies here can get close to that, this house is gonna' kick butt!

4.) Slaughter Sinema 2 - My first HHN was 2018, and the first Slaughter Sinema was hands down one of my favorites. This is the kind of concept that can keep on giving, just give A&D some time to come up with a bunch of crazy ideas and let them loose. I would have this way higher, but I'm purposely putting it down here to avoid overhype. But yeah, this is the sequel house I've been waiting for!

3.) Insidious: The Further - I do love me a good scary ghost house, and HHN can be very good at them. After all one of my favorite houses is 2019's Graveyard Games. Also, the Insidious franchise is honestly well-made to be a house. And with this being a best-of kind of house where they're just throwing you into the Further and telling you "Good Luck!", I have a feeling this'll get me in the best way.

2.) The Museum: Deadly Exhibits - Out of all the houses this year, this is the one I'm the most intrigued by. They've been very vague/hush-hush on what this house fully entails. All I publicly know is it's a folklore museum where the new Rotting Stone exhibit unleashes all sorts of heck inside. Everything else (except for what kind of scares which I do know), is a giant unknown, and for me that's very exciting!

1.) Monstruous: The Monsters of Latin America - I do love me a good creature house, and I also enjoy when HHN explores various monsters from all around the world. Hollywood's house last year looked really cool, so I'm glad Orlando is taking a spin this year. This house could be chock full of great sets, scares and atmosphere, so this one is pretty easy for me to place in the #1 spot!

I love seeing how different everyone's lists are!

As of right now, I think mine is:

1) Triplets of Terror: After the rumors/talk of this one being the scenic house AND being more of a modern neighborhood, I started imagining this one a certain way and it's just got me super excited. The title art had me worried it would be kinda TCMish, which isn't my vibe, but if it's a nice neighborhood with some horrible murders, it's a totally different vibe than what I feel I'd expect with a slasher house and I'm here for it.

2) Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines: I'm always impressed by the monster houses, especially last year's. But then the ladies get the stage here? I'm super excited for it!!

3) Insidious: The Further: I've been rewatching the Insidious movies with my husband recently (I had only ever seen up to #3, and it had been years since I rewatched the first three) and I forgot how much I like these movies. I'm really excited to see them bring them to life!

4) Goblin's Feast: Dueling Dragons last year was fun, but not my favorite. But this sounds like it's going to take fantasy and turn it gory, and it sounds like it has potential to be really creepy if done right.

5) A Quiet Place: I really enjoyed the first two movies (especially the first) and I'm excited to get to walk through it!

6) Slaughter Sinema 2: I never saw the original, so this one doesn't have as much of a special place for me as it does everyone else. I'm worried with the constantly changing scenes/stories that it'll feel like SCarey in 2021, which is the only house I have genuinely NOT liked. But with how much people loved the original, I'm cautiously optimistic. Plus, I saw the list of movies to be featured and that moved it higher up my list.

7) The Museum: Deadly Exhibits: Because so much of this one is unknown (and I'm avoiding spoilers), I don't know where to place it because I don't have any expectations, really.

8) Monstruous: The Monsters of Latin America: I'm expecting this one to turn out way better in person than I'm imagining, but I'm having a hard time picturing what sets they would do (especially after listening to the podcast).

9) Major Sweets Candy Factory: My hype for this one is unfortunately tainted just by previous experiences with houses in that location. I've kept up the best I can with talk about how this year will be structurally different, and I hope it turns out amazing!

10) Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire: I actually thoroughly enjoyed the 2019 house, but my problem here is that I didn't like the movie this house is going to be based on. I really only like the original Ghostbusters, so even if the house is going to be amazing, it's just not a property that has me as excited as the rest.

When it comes to Slaughter Sinema, the original was a tad different than on how it flowed compared to SCarey. SCarey went with a seamless transition which could be easily lost by folks if you didn't know each house it was representing, especially since some were very similar to one another.

As for the original Slaughter Sinema, each scene was self-contained as you would first see a movie poster and hear its tagline, and then go through a room or two of that movie. The flow worked pretty darn well, and it's a lot easier to follow. And a big factor on why Slaughter Sinema is so beloved is it embraces the B-Movie. For those who grew up watching them, be it by themselves, or via Mystery Science Theater 3000 or Elvira, Svengoolie and all the other late night horror hosts, this house is absolutely for them, and it resonated with a lot of folks.

These descriptions make a lot of sense! Thank you! That gives me some hope haha especially if they follow the same flow of movie posters before each section to help transition you into each one. Looking forward to seeing it! Also curious to hear from people who loved the original on whether this one ends up living up to that one or not. It's definitely cool they brought back something people really loved!

I get, it’s not a popular opinion. But the point of this thread was to share what our most anticipated houses were. IP houses are always the ones that make me excited for the event. Not saying that these are going to be my favorites, just that they’re the ones I’m looking forward to the most. I don’t follow the spec and lore nearly as much as most on this site do, so the originals don’t do much to hype me up.

Not in any way dismissing your anticipation list! Just having a chuckle that it happens to line up with Universal marketing's priorities.

Not going to HHN till early October but before spoilers get posted this is my list atm:
1. Slaughter Sinema 2 - The OG house is my favourite original of all time and possibly by fav house of all time, all of the movies this time round seem just as good if not better also happy to get a house set in Carey ofc
2. Monstruos: The Monsters Of Latin America - I thought that this was incredible in Hollywood and honestly Orlando do better in general with bigger sets and overall making it more "immersive" so I feel like this will be great, also just love Latin America folklore in general so they can't go wrong with this imo.
3. A Quiet Place - It surprises me how low people have this tbh, the og movie is amazing the second film isn't as good but still is decent but the idea of getting to be face to face with the death angels is terrifying, also the scenery is gonna be great, excited to see the nail scene in real life too
4. The Museum: Deadly Exhibits - Has a lot of potential as a concept, also the idea that we're going to get to see lots of artifacts from around the world is cool, interested how the whole rotting stone taking over the museum idea is gonna work
5. Goblin's Feast - This has moved up drastically since being announced for me, the idea of a house similar vibes to Wicked Growth and Dueling Dragons just seems like perfection to me, also hyped to see all the different types of goblins, giving LOTR vibes in the best way possible
6. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - This was originally a lot higher for me, and i've just last minute swapped it with Goblin's, I love the Ghostbuster's franchise and if it was based on all of the films it would be higher but FE was a bit of a mid film, still excited for Slimer, Marshmallow Man and Garraka and to see a comedy house in the lineup
7. Insidious: The Further - Just rewatched the franchise, personally did not find the films scary at all HOWEVER I think living it irl will be a lot more scary, manifesting the inside facade is the same from HHN25 bc that was amazing, bonus points if they play tiptoe through the tulips
8. Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines - The UM houses have always been my favourites however I wanted to see some new monsters this year rather than bride again, still hyped for the She-Wolf and Anck-Su-Namun and i'm sure the sets and scares will be great
9. Major Sweets Candy Factory - I think this will be fun probably not that scary but my main issue with this is that out of all of the great scarezones they chose to do Sweets Revenge as a house? Idk it's a fun idea but was not a fan of the zone so we'll see..
10. Triplet's Of Terror - Excited we're getting a slasher this year however bit worried for the execution of this house, it seems like all the time jumps are going to be a bit confusing for an original story, have heard it's giving House Of 1000 Corpses vibes but I didn't like that house so.... holding out hope that I'm wrong and we get a Triplet's sweep

Long time, no see, but with HHN just around the corner, I thought I'd drop my hype list.

**REWORKED**

1. Slaughter Sinema 2 - One of my favorite houses of all time. My jaw dropped when I first heard about this. And yes, I bought ChromaDepth 3D glasses for it.

2. The Museum: Deadly Exhibits - "Night At The Museum Meets HHN" is how it was described to me. Haven't done a deep dive into the story of it, so I don't know if that is an accurate description now, but the concept sounds fantastic. It could be one of the scariest houses this year.

3. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - Big Ghostbusters fan and loved the original house in 2019. I enjoyed the film, even with its obvious flaws. Could have some really impressive set design. I think this will be sort of a mix between the OG house and the new film, featuring the memorable ghosts and locations while being in a frozen setting. It'll hopefully hit that nostalgia itch while also doing something new. Bumped up two spots after hearing reviews from TM night.

4. A Quiet Place - Extremely skeptical when this started floating around. Was originally against it, but I'm really intrigued to see how they pull this off. The films are great, the Death Angels are horrifying and could provide for some pretty intense moments. The more and more info Universal releases about this house, the more intrigued I become. This feels similar to when Stranger Things was brought in 2018. Almost like a turning point for the event.

5. Insidious: The Further - The first Horrors of Blumhouse is only remembered because of the Insidious section, which took up most of the house lol. That was one of the scariest house experiences I've ever had. Insidious was one of the houses I missed in 2015, but getting that taste of it in HOB had me wanting more. I'm a fan of the films and now it's in a Soundstage, so I don't see how they can screw it up.

6. Major Sweets Candy Factory - Sweet Revenge is one of my favorite scare zones of all time, so I'm excited to see this house. The location worries me a bit, but seeing the facade has put some of my qualms to rest. Don't think it'll be very scary, maybe it's a comedy house, however, it should have some pretty unique sets and character designs.

7. Goblin's Feast - Dueling Dragons proves Fantasy houses work and so that's what I'm hoping this house is an extension of. Could also be scratching that itch for a more traditional Halloween house. Originally thought this would be a comedy house, but those Goblins do not look like they are playing around....

8. Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America - Not a big fan of recycling concepts from Hollywood, but I think this house will be very pretty. Have a feeling it'll be this year's Bloodmoon/Pier. I think I would be more interested if it had El Cucuy instead of Lechuza.

9. Triplets of Terror - When I first heard about this, my brain automatically went to that series of Goosebumps books called "Triple Header" lol. I know A&D is trying to tell a story, which I do find interesting, but I worry it's not gonna translate very well. Though, I think this house could be scary.

10. Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines - Not really interested in this. I'm sure the set design will be great. The "all-female cast" feels really forced and the Monsters being B/C-Tier doesn't help. Just tired of Gillman getting shafted.

Excited for everything on this list honestly. Not quite as down on the IPs as most (I’m very curious about AQP’s execution and very excited to see insidious again as I only went one night each year back in 2015, but loved that run). Many originals are black boxes it feels this time around. Can’t wait to see what they cooked up.

1. Monstruos: Monsters of LatAm
2. Museum: Deadly Exhibits
3. Insidious: The Further
4. Slaughter Sinema
5. A Quiet Place
6. Triplets of Terror
7. Goblins Feast
8. UM: Eternal Bloodlines
9. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
10. Sweets Revenge
