Maurer Sohne can pretty much kiss any chance of any more x-car installations by any high profile American chain goodbye. Problem after problem, wonder if it has to with the lift? Usually the only thing that causes a coaster to go down after this of operation involves the lift chain or motor.

True, but the problem that has continually plagued the ride is the computer programming, that controls the speed of the cars in the station, the breaking in the break runs, and the overall timing of the whole ride. The ride was built to be specific when it comes to its timing with the trains on the lift hill and each break run, but the trains are either running too fast and reaching each break run too quickly or vice versa, too slowly, which is why they haven't run the full 7 trains at any specific time. Maurer bascially mis calculated the need length of track in between runs, which is where we are today.....

I'm hearing that it will be closed for tomorrow, but there are no long term plans to have it closed.

Tell a CM. They'll tell the person at the front of the line to let you go to the front.

Doubtful, according to Screamscape its not a problem that is easily fixed. I'm really wondering what it could possibly be. I'm going to be there next weekend and I was really hoping it would be open during HHN to pull away some of the crowds.

It's funny -- when I was in line for Rockit on Monday (the last day it was open), about 2 cars from loading my girl asked why I looked nervous. I told her "I dunno... This ride just always makes me feel uneasy, like something's wrong". Not to say there's any danger involved here.... but yeah, these mysterious closures on a 1 year old coaster are exactly what's always in the back of my mind. Just makes me nervous

From Screamscape:Rockit could be down as long as 2-3 months for train modifications, worst case scenario.

Wow first Kumba has stress cracks and now HRRR has stress cracks in the coupling between cars :shrugs: whats next?

I’ve got a public confirmation about one of the issues that has caused the temporary shutdown of the Hollywood Rockit. A technical service alert from Maurer Sohne was released this month that reports that the ‘coupling bar’ between the cars on all of the X-Car / Sky-Loop train systems are “not fatigue endurable”. In other words, they are showing signs of stress that could lead to a possible failure.
As such, Maruer will be redesigning the parts and offering up the fix in approximately 2-3 months. “Any operation of the Sky Loop or X-Car Coaster with tandem train must be immediately and strictly stopped until the examination has been evaluated!” So… the ride’s shut down for the short term at least because of this alone. “If you find any cracks (no matter what size or type) on the checked locations or any other irregularities, the system must be shut down immediately in order to prevent serious accidents prosing a danger to health and life of persons.”
