Rip Ride Rockit: Riders trapped at top of Universal Studios thrill ride
It is supposed to be something that is all fun and enjoyable and thrilling, but sitting suspended high in the air is no-one's idea of exciting. The Rip Ride Rockit attraction at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL is stuck at the top of the first incline according to WESH on Oct. 9, 2013.
The incident with the attraction happened late in the evening around 7:00 p.m. ET. By the time the situation had been reported by WESH, ten guests had already been trapped up at the top of the ride for close to an hour.
This would not be the first time that the steel roller coaster has experienced problems, though.
Back in mid-2012, Rip Ride Rockit was shut down for over the course of a month. It was closed due to a roller coaster manufacturer issuing a warning about the safety bars on the ride. Apparently, they weren't up to par and not deemed safe or in perfect working order.
In Aug. of 2013, a guests at Universal Studios suffered a small injury on Rip Ride Rockit. After this situation, the attraction was shut down for a couple of days.
This latest incident is surely going to have safety inspectors checking out the attraction again. More than likely, Universal Studios will also be looking closer at the Rip Ride Rockit to determine what its future should be.
