i didn;t say i hated the ride because it was a water ride, i admitted i wasnt a fan because of the water feature, but was still willing to look past that, due to my love of the franchise. but the other aspects of the ride just didn't work for me. the like the raptors and rex from my own personal perspective are all blink and you'll miss it which loses a lot of the wonder and awe that the dinos on film had. and the whole build up seems to be for the drop rather than the atmosphere of the experience just my opinion, plus i feel the water was a shot in the foot for aspects of maintenance(which we have seen to be very true) plus it loses a lot of impact when you have an entire land in the same theme park full of nothing but water rides. look its just my opinion water ride element aside i've just always been disappointed in the main ride of the jurassic park island.

and the whole build up seems to be for the drop rather than the atmosphere of the experience. you say we're getting that form the DC ride, now correct me if i'm wrong but wont the DC be based on the ride grant and co take where they watch the mr dna video and see the eggs, which like i said seems to be a nice slow easy enjoyable ride, and if thats how it will play out while it will be a great ride for the die hard fans of the franchise i dont see it having crowds flock to JP like the rumoured additions of Springfield and WWOHP

1. Ummm what? The Raptors and the Rex are easily visible and you can see fairly well. Keeping them there for 2-3 minutes would ruin the shock and thrill factor they're supposed to have.

2. Well that is the climax of the ride....... You're supposed to build up to that.

3. The first part with the Herbivores.....especially with the Ultrasaurus ((Technically Brachiosaurus.)) fills that quotient. Far better then what the Jeep Ride was gonna have.

4. And water rides are bad why? It was a fleshed out concept from the Novel where Grant and the kids escape from the Rex through a river......I really don't see the problem with that. Maitenance can be a bitch on every ride. Have you looked at the Yeti in EE lately?

5. Ummm.....what? If the Springfield ride we're rumored to get is true I don't see how that is exciting at all. It's a spin ride. Big woop. Also the whole section is getting an overhaul. It won't just be new rides. And if you read the article they mentioned going through the Animal Containment area in the DC ride so point invalid there on it being "Boring".

My big problem with JP water ride is that the AAs are not top-of-the-line........and that is probably the result of having to deal with water 24/7. If this were a "dry" attraction......we'd probably see some pretty awesome AAs.

Yup. It's VERY hard to do good looking AAs when they're in water. It's the reason the Jungle Cruise and JPRA look the way they do.

The only ones which look bad are the Compies. With the new AAs we're getting probably going to be the Singapore ones it'll look even more amazing now.

Quick question HTF: Will we be getting the effects Hollywood has (like the jeep) plus the water control based on temperature?

I don't see why we would get the jeep, it's a cool effect but the falling crate is essentially the same thing.

Remember those suits walking around Toon Lagoon? Seems one of there missions were to stand in Toon Lagoon and get a glimpse at JP from TL. Seems they were very interested in the view...

I hope they looked a little further to the right as well...

The jeep is less impressive than the crate, IMO. You can see the cables holding it from falling over.

Im surprised at how many people think a jeep inspired ride would be too similair to the river adventure.. Yes, the old concepts were quite similar, but something new orginal and engaging could easily be created that is different enough from the river ride. I think everyone who has seen the first JP film would kill for a Jeep inspired ride.. whether it was similar to 'Countdown to Extinction' or something more coaster-like, possibly like The Mummy coaster I dunno. There just seems to be a ton of potential and demand for a jeep like ride.

Im also surprised at the lack of fences and animatronic dinos throughout the park.. seems like a perfect opportunity to have dino viewing areas not attached to rides.. Maybe even tie them food areas so people eat by the dinosaurs.

^ I actually agree with most of what you said. I'm Glad Jurassic park is getting some attention. The problem I have with that area right now, is that the walkways are so narrow. I just feel like the area becomes congested pretty quickly, and could really benefit from having the walkways widen a bit. I also like the idea of having more AA's around the area, to make you feel like you are actually surrounded by Dinosaurs. More fences would be pretty neat as well.

I hope they really take this area of the park to the next level. It has so much potential, it just needs to be modified a bit.

I've noticed more and more ODV throughout the last ten years in JP. Not just vending but the timeshare stand I think was added around 2002. Not sure when the climbing wall was added. It sounded like, I believe Disneyhead mentioned, that they were going to clean a lot of this up and centralize it with the addition.

I know that they already have the T-Rex Cafe at Downtown Disney, but it would be pretty cool if they made a restaurant like that in the Jurassic Park area. Instead of the meteor shower it could be a tropical storm and the Dinosaurs would go crazy and electric fences would zap and flash and stuff. It would probably be too scary for little kids though...

I still am surprised by the number of people who still want the Jeep ride. There are 2 reasons it will never happen in Orlando. 1. Disney opened a Dinosaur/Jeep ride before IOA opened. 2. They used the story concept in JPRA. It simply isn't going to happen. EVER!

I just dislike the fact that if you want to experience a JP ride you have to get wet...sometimes I just don't feel like being soaked. I guess with the expansion it'll give you more to do but the E-ticket is still a water ride. Anyways I'm hoping they rehab the River Adventure extensively, one of my sister's friends worked on the ride a few years back and pointed out to us numerous AA's that were either broken or not functioning correctly. I'd also love for the raptor cage scene to be changed to the jeep scene that's currently in the Hollywood version, but that's just me.

Oh and IIRC the Hollywood version actually has 2 T-Rex's. The one at the end like the IOA version and another one that comes out through the ceiling. That would be a very nice addition as well.

Well that may just be the IOA version, going by what someone said earlier they have no control over the water effects based on temp. I rode the USH one a few years back about 6 times in one day in January (because I rarely get to the parks being on the far side of the world and what seemed like 5 other people in the whole park), we barely got wet, with only a drop or two. The effects at the drop were turned down, so the boat hardly got wet, apart from one or two people in the front row who coped it when their was a gust of wind.

As for the jeep ride, the story would never of played out as well as the river version. It would need to have ride vehicles similar to those in Spiderman-dinosaur-Indiana Jones-transformers, and due to them being out doors they would of been a major pain to maintain and would of meant lots of breakdowns. As the water would get into sections of the mechanics and cause all sorts of trouble with the complicated system.

I don't know about everyone else, but I ride JPRA every time I go to IOA and if I ride in the back two rows I never get wet...or just a tiny splash in the face.

I can't say the same about the front row though.

That's why I'm hoping we get the weather control drop, so the people who don't want to get wet in 50 degrees weather can ride it
