Literature was the basis for the park, but that doesn't mean it should dictate every single step a park takes.

Look at the WWOHP, it's entirely based off the art style of the movies and not that of the books. I think of the parks as being more based on properties that have been read or started as literature, but not entirely based on that.

Example - Popeye might have been a comic, but he is far better known for the cartoon.

That is what I was thinking. They have done it in other parts of the park too, like JP and Seuse. The concept was from a long time ago, things change in the Theme Park industry. Heck even with new owners lol. And if you think about the "studio tour" style concept of Universal Studios continuing to fade away.

I wasn't sure in which thread to put this, but here is my wishful thinking for a reconfiguration of JP near FJ. Excuse the roughness, but it shows the new path along with a new restroom building and a new seating area for the Watering Hole, closer to the water in the old Island Skippers Tour queue. This wouldn't necessarily correct the FJ show building and sight line issues discussed on this board, but it would create more of a buffer and allow for possibly enough of a FJ queue expansion to avoid going backstage or into JP during busy periods.

Nice example. It is weird to go from a fully immersed area to pipes and drainage etc in the line. The back of the building is not the worst it could be for JP, kind of fits in with the look of JPRA lol. But it would be better if they could try and mask where it transitions like you pointed out.

They just redid the restrooms if I'm not mistaken; they won't demolish them.

Your extended garden queue is the current JP queue section of HPFJ and they themed it with the lights they installed. That was the extent of which they cared. Its used during 2 peak seasons and rarely during the summer. There is still no return for this to happen. With that being said, I wouldn't mind that being converted some. But the queue space is already there and its optimized the best way possible. There's no way to add more space where it already is. Mezzanine queue isn't going away. If anything they're just going to bring back extended mezzanine and take it even further back into the back of house like they used to. They experimented with Winter and Spring break without extended mezzanine and they ran out of queue space, expect it to come back. Its a necessary evil.

It shouldn't be a problem once phase 2 is there to take some of the people away.

Also, if you can use your imagination for the ride and to feel like you're in the movies, I don't see why you can't imagine away the sightlines...

I realize there is no ROI for them to make any further changes. As I said in my post, it is my wishful thinking.

Let's hope JPRA gets that promised refurb...I was disappointed that #1 some of the foliage has been cut in the line exposing a bare forest green wooden wall behind it as well as some backstage areas...and #2 one of the raptor's skins looked like it was about to come off..

That was going to be the USF version of the ride and be located on the MIB lot and part of the empty adjacent land.

It's interesting you posted a reroute for the pathway between Potter and JP, if only for thematic purposes MebWeb... but I actually think this is an area that really needs attention. It's potentially the most congested and un-fluid section of the entire park - and if they plan on adding a new family ride back here, the infrastructure needs dramatic improvement, without compromising the identity of the island.

So, is the majority of the expansion taking place in the Triceratops plot or in the Thunder Falls plot? It seems like the ideas are changing everyday! I personally think this would be ideal:

A wooden Amber Mine family coaster in most of the Triceratops space (Think Mt. Everest/Space Mountain in terms of thrill level)
Discovery Center Omnimover dark ride added to current Discovery Center (not a replacement but an addition to the current one)
Upgraded Discovery Center exhibits
JPRA upgrade/massive rehab
Pteranodon Flyers gets extension and a second track
Camp Jurassic expansion
Raptor walk-around AA like in Singapore
Food carts

This would be larger in scale than what we originally thought. And it could all be done for $200-$250 million which is pretty affordable for all of that.
Universal could still use the Thunder Falls plot for a later expansion if JP IV becomes a breakout hit.

Where'd the Pteranodon Flyers getting expanded/second track rumor come from? I must have missed that in this thread. What about the possible rumored Wing Coaster that HTF was teasing about for either JP in IOA or for BGT?

It has not been talked about. I think this is on this person's wish list, not a rumor. I think most people want a second track so it can have more capacity and maybe open up for more than just kids.

The whole second track for the flyer is just a wish list deal. You would need roughly 4 tracks with new vehicles to advertise a new ride experience. It's just not feasible so IMO I think they will see there demise sooner rather than later.

This is pretty much what I have been wanting for the JP Expansion. The only thing that I don't really care for would be the flyers extension.

I would LOVE to see those things gone. Completely out of theme for JP, IMO

You think the Pteranodon Flyers are out of theme for Jurassic Park? I have about a thousand issues with the ride, but the theme for it's location isn't one of them. I think the theme is perfect for it's location. I even like the way it looks flying overhead.

I think the boring, ugly steel structure diminishes the natural look and feel of JP, yea.

It's like the complete opposite of what Universal usually does. It's too restrictive in the opposite ways.

Plus its capacity is straight up awful.
