Could someone post a Google Maps Image of exactly where this rumored coaster would be built?

The Splinter concept was hinted many, many posts ago by HTF or DH, can't remember who.

Just to be clear, the Splinter thing is just a guess from putting 2 and 2 together based os several different rumors that I have heard.

Rumor #1- About 1.5-2 years ago I heard that they were looking at an amber mine coaster concept.
Rumor #2- They are talking to Gravity Group for a "family coaster".

So after looking at Gravity Groups web site, The Splinter can fit the bill of being both Family Friendly and used in an Amber Mine concept.

But as I said, I am just guessing that that may be what they are looking at.

That's exactly what i was thinking. Recently i just went on the Gravity Group web site and saw that coaster and thought that's probably what the Amber Mine Coaster is gonna be like.

Just an FYI since no one can see behind the curtain so to speak. The trikes remain untouched, just thought some of you may want to know

Every time I imagine this I imagine something that looks like Matterhorn. Not taking up a lot of space, but still a good ride with decent length.

I'm envisioning an attraction with the same footprint and target ride audience as the Dwarves coaster.

Awesome! I was starting to think we were leaning towards something along the lines of "Flight of the Hippogriff" or "Woody wood peckers nuthouse coaster" material.

Eh, I'm thinking it'll be larger than that.

This is exciting. Disney needs to get their heads outta their arses and announce something BIG or they're gonna seriously lose the theme park war

I wouldn't say they are loosing anything, as they still have high attendence. That being said..Avatar is only so exciting. We need to see some new expansions in each park.

Epcot - New Countries (its' been WAY too long)...new area (in place of Wonders of Life)
Studios - Cars Land or Star Wars Expansion.
AK - Avatar.

And honestly I would be fine with that. I was excited up until I heard about it getting a Soarin 2.0 type ride/show.

If Avatar really is dead, then Disney is really going to have a lot of egg on their face.

Back on topic...always thought that JP felt a little underserviced for such a large part of the park. A kiddie coaster so close to Hippograth, isn't my first choice, but I'm glad they are talking about possibly doing a dark ride modeled after the actual dark ride in the movie...always seemed like an obvious attraction.

Technically Avatar is still alive. They pitched a 3 attraction Pandora to Cameron and he approved. Then WDI said that there was no way to build it with the $500 Million budget and cut the motorbike coaster and Cameron said "no way". They have since made 2 pitches that could be built for $500 million and Cameron shot both of them down. That's where it stands now. Basically they are starting from scratch. 18 months into the project and they have nothing but a contract.
