It was more like he moved forward a couple feet while his legs moved. I doubt there were any low-light camcorders in 1999 good enough to really capture it though...

Another fun fact about the IOA T-Rex -- She actually emits an audible burp after the boat goes down the chute (implying she ate a tourist). Of course, nobody is around to hear it -- except the TM's in the control booth. One of those "just for fun" things the designers threw in for their own amusement.

I always thought it was funny that we got bumped into the raptor containment area right as they happened to break out. You would think they would keep us away from that area with raptors on the loose.

I think they should add a effect that when the Dino bumbs you off course that you bump the gates open, if the gates are already open wouldn't there be raptors running around the rest of the tour?

I believe Hollywood's does have some "bad" dinosaurs sitting around before you go into the raptor containment area, with that same implication, and possibly the one in Singapore as well (I don't have time to check YouTube), so that would be another nice addition to the ride. This is unrelated, but I also think it would be really cool if some other ride included an aerial fly-by of JPRA in the part where things are still going "as planned", such as an extension of pteronadon fliers to cross over the midway and give a view of some dinosaurs in the forest, leading out to a brief view of the River Adventure (that would not, however, be in direct view from the boats). Of course, like many of the ideas on this forum, they are just that, and nothing more...

You are correct, the "compies" are fighting over a box of popcorn near the Hadrosaurs, while the spitters are outside before you ever enter the building/lift. IMO the Hollywood version is far superior in its pacing, show elements, special effects, and quantity/quality of dinosaurs... Florida's two advantages are that the ride is situated/integrated into a larger themed area (whereas Hollywood's just plopped on the lower lot), and Florida has the aforementioned more dynamic T-Rex. In response to the latter, I frankly find Hollywood's two T-Rex heads more interesting since the more dynamic elements of the Florida Rex barely work these days.

In my opinion, a lot needs to be done to make the bumping off course more realistic and clear. It never really worked for me.

Agreed. The way they do it at Singapore, (in that version, a toppled over raft is blocking your intended route, sending you off course) feels way more believable. I suppose they can make the Hadrosaur thing work, but they're going to need to put a lot of work into it.

I always kinda took it as the dinosaur didn't knock the boat off course, but messed up the track path while he was in the water.

In Hollywood, they have the Hadrosaur pop up and a tour boat blocking your path. Sorta not sure what's going on with that either

I guess that could make sense, but still doesn't really make much sense. It's confusing.

Seeing the square concrete surrounds of the bump dino has always been a pisser show. Why they are built so close to the surface always frustrated me. There is another way that deep spot could have been executed.

The USH version has the t-rex at the drop and a t-rex coming down from a hole in the ceiling towards the top of the lift hill.

Yes it is. After watching the video I was instantly reminded how much more I enjoyed the pacing of Hollywoods version...and the Dinos all move more fluid than the ones at IOA.

(I knew the T-Rex on the drop in USH was full bodied!)

Thanks for finding that video! Funny that in all the times I've been on the USH version, I've never seen the falling car work, nor seen the final Trex move through the waterfall that fast! Wonder when it was shot..,

BTW, sorry if was unclear earlier, but the first Trex at USH is the one that is just a head. The finale Trex does has legs, but its a less sophisticated animatronic that doesn't have the full-body walking animation that IoA's (theoretically) does. As you can see in this video, the waterfall is used to obscure the fact that he's a mostly static puppet that is pushed forward by a ram at the last moment; in IoA he has a whole warmup animation cycle while you approach that is more dramatic (though less shocking) if and when it works...

Every time I rode the USH version the T-Rex was working just fine...and I think having the waterfall makes it far more realistic. If ours isn't misty and foggy up there by the T-Rex, you can see the mechanics and supports that move the Dino.

Last time I was on the USH version I came around the corner and the lights on the t-rex were on so you could see him nice and clear though the water fall. And that was fairly recently.

IoA's T-Rex is way better, but that's about all that's better IMO
