If a wooden roller coaster is indeed coming to JP, then that would be hysterical! UO is ruthless! They would literally be capitalizing on a great concept originally intended for Dinoland USA in Animal Kingdom haha! Maybe they will call it "The Excavator" :ears:

Strongly disappointed with JP's new approach of a theme park carnival within a land. It's like they are TRYING to replicate Chester and Hester's.

I'd prefer waiting until 2016 to see a great addition to Jurassic Park as opposed to a quickie built in a year.

Like new Star Wars properties, theme park adaptations should spawn off the original trilogy or in JP's case: Original film and book.

I actually think they are going for a theme park macrotheme. If you were going to compare it to anything Disney I would compare it to Paradise Pier. Only with a definite JP feel.

I don't think that's the point. Jurassic Park itself IS a theme park, but not a carnival. Not one book or film makes any reference to anything tacky or kitschy. Jurassic Park is the IOA of zoos. Just because they can reference the fact that they have attractions doesn't make it tacky. Is the Hulk tacky for being part of a world-class theme park? It will still be immersive and well-themed, I'm sure, because the whole idea of a theme park within a tropical island means that they still have to uphold the tropical island aspect. It's all very meta and confusing, but bottom line is that I don't think this will be made to be cheesy or carnival-like. A flat ride and roller coaster in the jungle environment of Jurassic Park (a theme park itself) fits better story-wise than the Hulk and Storm Force in a metropolis environment.

As for them rushing it...I don't really think that makes a difference. A lot of people have wayyyy overestimated the space Universal has to play with here. You can't just drag and drop a FJ-scale dark ride in the Trike plot...you need room for maintenance bays, walkways, queue lines, food stands, kitchen bases for the food stands, access roads for supply drop-offs, etc. No amount of time they spend on the project will increase the amount of space they have, which honestly isn't enough to put in a large scale dark ride. So, if what they have to work with is just enough for one small-scale roller coaster, I'll take it as soon as they can deliver it.

I love the idea and both of these additions will offer a good variety within the park. Especiallu if kong comes, that entire back area of.the park will fulfill the desire of "family friendly" with thrills mixed in as well

The flat ride/carousel will be for the toddler+ croud. And the junior coaster will hit the 5+ demo. Kong will be for 9+ guests AND be the knock your socks of E-Ticket. And let's not forget the JPRA and Camp Jurassic are already there. All that combined and that part of the park will be pretty fleshed out.. with a little bit for everyone.

And not to mention Harry Potter just on the other side of the trees.

I get the what they are doing, but I don't like the execution. I want Jurassic Park to continue to feel like some sort of prehistoric wilderness resort.. the park within a park thing is a bummer. The amber mine sounded really nice, it would have been some great visual themeing.

So, this question hasnt really been answered, ad i understand that it wont be until we know the true future of JP

What will happen to the budget for kong? Can we expect to see more than previously anticipated?

Kong AA's?

That makes plenty of sense. I just hope Comcast leaves room for a Mr. DNA dark ride/prehistoric subs ride (new movie has aqua-dinos) behind the Discovery Center. A dark ride would be the perfect way to finish up JP

Plus the flat ride seems uninteresting... build an observatory tower in the middle of CJ! That'd actually make sense as a flat ride and might even leave room for a larger junior woodie coaster.

I have no problem with this. Like the Trolley in the sky and Hulk they could add some space going a bit over the water. What I don't get is there is a nice kids play are and coaster (of some sort) already in Jurassic park. The coaster (I'd love to ride it once but I have no kids and we are not allowed on it because of capacity problems) and now they add another small coaster like ride for small kids?!

Kid's coaster does not make much sense since there already is Flight of the Hippogriff, so hopefully even if it is not a full blown wooden scream machine, it still will be thrilling enough.
As for a flat ride, I'd love to see the old fashioned octopus ride, was disappointed that kang and kodos was not one.

For everyone suggesting an underwater Dino ride, at IAAPA I demoed an aquarium shark attack simulator with a wall-sized 3D screen disguised as a tank, moving floor, and water effects. Easily adaptable to the JP concept...

That'd be a bit thrilling considering Disneyhead said the flat ride is for the toddler/preschool crowd  and I'd definitely say a ride should be added to Discovery Center as well as a decent revamp

I hope that even with the small footprint they find a way to extend some length to the new ride. I don't think a minute ride will cut it.
