Happy Gore-ing 20s is returning. Best new zone of last year, on either coast.

I'll also be fine if Pumpkin Eater goes. It's never been particularly novel and feels played out, even if it fits in well with its surroundings. I hope The Depths hangs around another season, though, that maze is criminally underrated.

If I had to take a wild guess, The Hollow SZ could also be retired along with Pumpkin Eater opening up a slot for the 50th next year

If CarnEvil is changing up a bit to match with Mesmer, then I'd say Dark Ride is also on the retiring chopping block.

I'm very curious if they'll bite the bullet and give us a SZ in the Rapids/Pony midway being close to one of the new mazes OR if that midway will be saved for 2023.

There's a big wooden facade being built in the corner the park down from Pony Express, not sure if this is haunt related (possibly not), anyone know more?

More than likely just some additional facades like they built across from Boot Hill a few years ago. These might be to cover up some backstage portions of the new restaurant.

Correct. Look at the close proximity of those plywood facades & the train tracks. It is most definitely just scenic detail to hide the ugly backside of the new restaurant.

It would be great if it was haunt related, but considering they were STILL working on the exterior of the pizza place (despite officially being open), I'm going to say it's just new train scenic.

Speaking of Scary Farm & rides, I just realized the Halloween overlay of the log ride wasn't included

Hm. That is strange. Maybe they will make an announcement for it in the next few weeks.

I can't see why they wouldn't do the log ride overlay, it's relatively simple to execute and it's awesome, really captures the spirit of Halloween. There's still a bit to announce - 2 new mazes, shows, and any other experiences - looking forward to finding out. And when those tickets go on sale on Aug 15: shut up and take my money.

What do you mean? If you're talking about it not being included in the returning maze announcement, they don't include it in that. It wasn't in last year's returning maze announcement video, and it was at the event.

Last year was different because of the apocalypse so it's best to just ignore everything about it. Considering the long line Halloween Log Ride gets, it might as well count as a maze or show.

I'm more curious about their annual announcement AP event returning or not. I'm expecting it to happen since Knott's is NOT having a panel at Midsummer Scream. And there was no mention of "final season" on any of the mazes in the video. Although it's possible they'll just continue their "train of terror" videos.

RUMOR: CarnEvil might stay the same visually this year if Dark Ride is retiring, then for the 50th, give it a Mesmer revamp.

While the "Calico Ghost Train" gimmick is great & the Conductor as the new "icon", I almost feel ripped off by the quiet ending of The Hanging & ending of The Green Witch's curse in 2019.

I’d love to see the announcement night come back, but considering they’ve already started to announce stuff I don’t see it happening this year. Might have been something that was cut due to the pandemic and just not brought back.

Dang, 7 weeks till opening and still bare wood.
I'm sure it's possible they'll pick up the pace, but at the rate things are going, makes me wonder how much the performers are gonna have to work with by the time scare school comes around lol

The shows are to be expected. I’m assuming we’ll get some fresh entertainment next year.

Is that the full lineup of shows and experiences? I guess Wicked Drums, Mystery Lodge show (a maze in that location now, but they have had a show as well in the past) and Fiesta Village (undergoing construction) are out.

The Beyond the Fog tour intrigues me, I'll definitely be doing that.

We'll be getting some more announcements for sure. I recall Wicked Drums not being received too well (I didn't see the show personally), so it's possible it isn't returning but we'll just have to wait and see.

Lol someone must like puppet up, but I know it isn't me. More time for mazes.

I didn't go last year because my country wasn't letting people out for leisure travel, but I would have liked to have seen the mystery lodge show.

It would be good if Elvira at least had a presence at haunt, maybe sign her book or something.

Won't happen until next year with the 50th... and it'll be very minimal at best.

Current word from the Calico Mine canary:

The new mazes, retiring mazes & anything else will be getting their own video announcements. They seem to be fully committed to the video gimmick instead of the former announcement event. So look for the next updates next week since tickets go on sale Aug 15th

This makes sense. Bummer about the announcement night, but maybe it’ll come back next year or something. With tickets on sale in a few weeks I’d expect next week to be an interesting announcement (hopefully!)
