Technically we've always had this since Paranormal Inc was the only maze retired last year...

Now we wait to find out which maze(s) are on list to be Hanged to make room for the 50th

I enjoy the maze, but I have a feeling Pumpkin Eater might be on that list.

Sure, but not everyone follows this stuff as closely as we do, so posting the official news for visibility.

With Knott's, I'm rarely sad to see a maze get changed. They usually have a good run and stay around a couple years too long.

I feel like if it was 4ish mazes every year going away I'd go more

Like this year I can only go to one haunt event and most likely that will be HHN (mainly because I have the premium pass and its free) but knowing only two mazes are gone from last year...I feel no reason to go until next year or longer. Love Knotts but wish they slowly creeped up to retiring 4 mazes every year

As I've said earlier, Pumpkin Eater may have gained an extra season or two considering last year they changed up the last third of the maze. As far as I can recall, a maze sticks around for a couple more seasons if it gets an update like that.

My gut feeling is, well you can put it a couple ways. 3-D's, or the flavortown that is Triple D...Dark Entities, The Depths and Dark Ride. I'm basing this on both age and none of them have gotten any major updates in a while. Both Dark Ride and Pumpkin Eater are the oldest mazes at the event, though Pumpkin Eater got its major refresh last year, while it's been a couple seasons since Dark Ride has had a notable update.

Both Dark Entities and The Depths are the next oldest mazes, Dark Entities is the one I'm most certain on having its last year. It hasn't had any notable updates lately, and it certainly didn't have much of a line if any when I went last year. As for the Depths, once again no real notable updates lately and last year this was the one that I heard rumblings that they were looking at it on whether or not to keep it for another year or so.

And with the 50th on the horizon, I do feel they'll be going big for that year, hence why I feel there's a chance there's three mazes having its final year and not two.

Anyone notice it's starting a week later this year? Kind of bummed about that. I love hitting HHN and KSF on consecutive opening weekends.

My bet's on Dark Entities and Pumpkin Eater. Dark Ride has been kind of showing its age as of late so I think it's possible, but honestly it fits so cohesively with Carnevil I wouldn't be surprised if they opt to keep it. Dark Entities I'd say is pretty surely on it's last legs this year, given that its been fairly neglected and its on fairly prime real-estate, since it seems like in the last couple years that backstage space is the only place they seem comfortable to put mazes that don't have parallel themes to their adjacent scarezones.

Totally forgot to mention, but with the video it seems like they'll be having the Conductor be the guide/face for this year again. After all the teens are exploring the train, most likely going from car to car which'll reveal one announcement after the next.

There's a rumor that Carnevil is getting their costumes refreshed this year to match more with Mesmer. So Dark Ride would be out of the loop if that is the case.

That's believable tbh.
Honestly idk if this is an odd opinion, but if Dark Ride is on the way out, i wouldn't mind if for its last year they updated the look a bit and did another "Lights Out" maze a la Trick or Treat.
I know that whole gimmmick was kind of an operations nightmare for Trick or Treat, but I've kinda just been obsessed with the idea when it comes to any maze set in an abandoned location.

This is why I only go once every other year now. And even that feels like too much. I'm astonished Pumpkin Eater is still going. Dark Ride and The Depths are both worn out too. Dark Entities was a flop in its first year and should've been overhauled from the get go. Sure they may get rid of those for their 50th, but then by that point, Wax Works will have long passed its prime. Origins seems like a fan favorite, so it's worth keeping another 2 years, along with Mesmer. But the rest could go, as far as I'm concerned.

NEW MAZE RUMOR:
Vampires vs Zombies

Pumpkin Eater is next to Camp Snoopy, so they should just open it for Spooky Farm as "The GREAT Pumpkin Eater" to traumatize the kids! :look:

Dark Ride needs to have a maze replacement that will be just as good or better because it's such an iconic maze. Not your typical "clown" maze. I personally like that CarnEvil, Dark Ride & Mesmer create a mini land (like Pumpkin Eater & The Hollow)

The Depths has tentacles, your worn out comment is invalid :tease:

I don't consider Dark Entities to be a flop at all. It was fun & scary in 2019, but of course I do have the nostalgia advantage of it reminding me of HHN Orlando's 2008 house "Interstellar Terror" which was loosely inspired by/based on the 90s horror film "Event Horizon". So yea, it wasn't a flop, but does rely on the cast to sell it.

Heard a rumor about a Steampunk theme. Didn't they have a Steampunk Vampire themed house many years ago around the Boardwalk? I forget what it's called, but maybe they're revisiting that theme?

Camp Snoopy used to be a scare zone named Necropolis which was a vampire steampunk theme. Short lived zone but very cool, would love to see a house based on that idea and vampire houses go way back at Knott's.

Same! Would love to see that again. Not crazy about the idea of a steampunk theme though.

That Beyond the Fog tour sounds like fun (thanks for posting that info water bottle), I do the Behind the Screams whenever I'm in Orlando (love it), so Knott's will getting my $$$$.

The 2 new mazes are a total mystery to me, but Knott's has had a good run of new mazes of recent. I wonder if they'll leave some fake signs around like they did for wax works (Devil's Den in 3d) and origins (Red Barn 2 lol) to get the fans going - epic troll.
