Konami coming to Universal?

They have some good properties but I can't see a good reason for it unless it was for some massive Video Game Park. Konami's best franchises include Silent Hill, Castlevania, Contra, Metal Gear, Dance Dance Revolution. I've ranked that in order of properties I could see being a fit. Silent Hill and Castlevania could both be pretty neat, but outside of HHN I would doubt it.

It is interesting though that now we have seen partnerships and heard rumors about multiple huge AAA publishers.

Resident Evil, Monster Hunter (Capcom) - happened HHN/Universal Japan
Nintendo - happening
Sega - Depending on Nintendo Licensing major mascots could be included
World of Warcraft (Blizzard/Activistion) - rumored

Nothing Sega would be included with Nintendo.

Otherwise I wouldn't want it taking up valuable Nintendo space in Kidzone.

I wouldn't expect it but if the contract was anything like the Marvel contract where they got properties associated with the franchise they could potentially be used. Sonic did appear in Smash Brothers.

Those would be completely different situations. Marvel is all one company. The outside properties that are in Smash Bros are licensed to Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't have the ability to relicense them.

Here's another possibility...Kid zone will be turned into Video Game zone, just like Toon Lagoon is a mashup of a ton of different comic strips from many different authors, maybe they are bringing in multiple video game companies to do the same there.

I know Universal used to have Universal Interactive which gave us Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon but thanks to Vivendi they lost that. Maybe the company is looking to diversify more and get back into gaming. It would also give the company some more IP's of their own to work with.

No. Konami isn't hurting, it just doesn't want to make video games. They run a successful health club chain in Japan and more.

Everything about this rumor is wrong. Just like Trek and Hunger Games just because someone asks Universal a question doesn't mean it's happening.

Why would Comcast want to? The division is weak, doesn't have marketable IP, and big video game studios are swiftly becoming a thing of the past.

There is an article about it on Orlando Informer and then it is backed up by "unknown" in their threads, who is their insider and has gotten a lot of stuff right so far. So from that point of view, I guess its not just a "dream thread." But still, I agree with most everyone here that it just doesn't sound right. Why Konami?
