I don't believe EPCOT security is moving at this time. Currently you have to be screened before boarding the monorail, which means guests coming from EPCOT to TTC have been screened already. The current setup is that the exit for the monorail station at EPCOT is on the other side of security meaning that guests got screened at their hotel or entering TTC to board the monorail will get screened again at EPCOT. the layout of the station makes it difficult to reroute those guests to enter without going through security a second time unless they push things WAY back. I think they're keeping it as it is for now.

I like this idea, and I think it also helps keep any possible threats further away from the park gates.

Curious how well this will work at Fort Wilderness where you take a boat to MK. Wonder if they will "wait" for people to get through security before leaving dock.

They are setting up screening at the center MK dock where the FW and WL boats come in. That screening point and the bus screening point at MK are all semi-temporary, with the idea that eventually they will start screening those guests BEFORE they board the boats and buses. That will just mean a small screening point for the walkway into MK from Contemporary eventually.

Or they close the path and force them tot ale the Monorail. It would decrease staffing costs.

By doing all of these changes, Disney is definitely making this less "security theater" and more actual security.

With that said, there is one major hole in this change: They STILL aren't don't have security checking CMs as they come into work. Both Universal and SW/BGT have backstage security (at the very least minimal security, in some cases metal detectors). Disney has literally nothing besides a security guard scanning to make sure that your Cast ID is active.

Disney is the biggest threat to themselves in this situation.

Correction: Disney does not have a security guard at their cast member entrances except for Magic Kingdom.

Right, and only because they need to scan your ID before taking the bus down to the tunnels.

Apparently they are supposed to start checking CMs now too when this goes live on Monday.

Bag checks exist for CMs. Some entrances always have them, some vary based on alert level.

All I know is when I worked there not too long ago, they never checked me once while entering MK.

That monorail pub crawl sounds like it would be a real pain to do now.

well the other upside is that it protects their transportation lines. Can you imagine what would happen if the MK ferry boat was compromised?

I'll find out what type of screening they are doing for CMs there.

Here's a visual if anyone is having a tough time picturing the new TTC Screening process:

That "additional unload area" is just a turn around. It's a cul de sac with concrete barriers down there now.

So I can get past all this security by getting here from Epcot? or will there now be security at the entrance to the Epcot Monorail.

There has been security for the EPCOT monorail since security went up. The EPCOT monorail was the only one that had screened guests until this Monday...

But even on a busy day Epcot goes faster because the demographic isnt nuclear families with doublewide strollers and baby bags.
