Someone posted this in the UOAP Facebook Group:

It has to be fake? Right.....?

Can't find it on the UO Blog anywhere and the commenters are claiming that it was taken down quickly.

I'm 99.99% sure that is fake. If it's being imported from Japan, how come none of the properties they describe are ones from the Japanese parade? And the ones that ARE in the Japanese parade can't even be used; in the U.S., I believe Cedar Fair has the Snoopy rights and Sea World has the Sesame Street rights.

That's what I thought. Some people commented that in the post and people went berzerk defending the post.

Whoever posted this on there, is VERY clever in editing..this although could've been believable, if it wasn't for the photo and crappy description.

And in-terms of who owns the Peanuts branding and Sesame Street branding for the US Parks is simple.

the rights to Peanuts is owned more by Cedar Fair, as Seasame Street's is owned by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.

Bingo. Total BS.

*edit*

Photo might be bad choice. Switch that out with concept art and I could see this working.

Playing devils advocate, perhaps the article doesn't mean literally physically imported, but that they're copying the parade and would switch out Japan IPs for Florida ones.

But I do think this is totally a fake. It's well done, but there are some errors.

Yeah, judging by the grammar alone, there's no way that's real.

I saw this momentarily also but didn't think to grab it, the text didn't mention any of those characters in the photos. more about stuff they did have (Despicable Me, Transformers, JP, etc.) .. Hello Kitty being the only one in the photos.

I think it was a work in progress draft that accidentally got put live with a placeholder photo -- it's literally the first thing that comes up for a google image search-- and incomplete text. Same thing happened with F&F. Blog systems like that one allow you to have users to schedule or pre-post stuff that only staff can see/edit, all it takes is a mis-click or incorrect date/time entry to put it live.

If this winds up happening, it's a good way to balance out Hulk/Kong on the studios side.

edit: Yikes, to be clear I didn't see this particular blog post, but have seen things pop up and disappear there before and forgot to do screengrabs.

I went and watched a video of the parade since I've never seen it in person.

It's 90% IPs that Universal would be crucified for using in Orlando. The pictured floats of Elmo and Snoopy are the least of the worries. A giant Grover balloon is showcased each year as part of the Macy's parade stuff.

However, the main parade segments with multiple floats are just unusable here in the US.

The first is Alice in Wonderland. Not Disney's Alice, but still Alice. Especially with Disney launching a new Alice film that's just not going to happen.

Then it's Arabian Nights. With a flying carpet, monkey and a genie. Not happening either.

They might be able to salvage the peacock float from that part.

Then it goes to Cinderella! CINDERELLA!!

Not happening in Orlando. Nope nope nope.

That is to say, if we're getting a parade were getting a different one that may share some parts.

I had to do the same. About 1 post in a hundred are interesting, it's not worth it.

ETA: this is pretty common with the UO Blog crew.

If this is real, I would not be surprised. F&F's blog post that was put out prematurely was completely different than the final one, including a header image that was not the same as the draft.

If this is fake, this person did one hell of a job.

I'm suspicious that this could be a work in progress and the picture was just a placeholder for now.

Remember, Teebin has been hinting at a nighttime parade for awhile now.

Upon further inspection, I think it's a fake. Looks like whoever did it doctored the Kong merch post. The fonts are too different, and the parade post says it has comments, which it definitely wouldn't of had.

Oh well.

Would Universal do a nighttime parade? They'd only be able to show it 10 out of 12 months of the year due to HHN, and that's only if they extend hours.

Then again, there is Macy's so why knows?

Heh "why". Whoops.

This could be Universal's answer/solution to their constant failing lagoon shows as well. Anything to extend hours.
