New Park Map Design?

UO is at least printing the show times on the map, and not making you get a second piece of paper.

I actually once took a survey about that and told Universal that I (and all the other Guests that visit frequently the parks) would love to have just a separate Time Guide for the updated show-times. Taking a new park map every time seemed like a waste of paper to me. They listened, but the new format lasted only a few weeks (I have one of those Times Guides myself).

Yes, being some one who can only be a tourist at all but one park, I can say just how annoying the Show time sheets are. They just end up getting in the way and they are always the first thing to get destroyed. Due to being printed all the time they always seem to be made out of paper which means the slightest bit of water or getting put into your pocket destroys them. Every time we end up visiting a park we end up throwing out the sheet and just going to the show location and getting the times.

You and other guest that visit the park frequently make up less then quarter of their business, so they're going to go with whats best for the other three quarters.

Just like they do with any new attraction they could leave the Jaws ride and all of amity on the map and photoshopped right over it Diagon Alley.

I know this would never happen.

Actually the map I got in Saturday shows the old Herv and Xena building with just Transformers coming soon written on top of it.

I hate Uni maps, when I do need them, I can never find anything on them. I much prefer Disney maps over Uni maps. But I think this is a personal choice and how you use them. I like Disney maps because the food is listed with attractions. So if I am in an area of the park I can quickly see what my closest food options are. Really, that is all I ever use the map for. I also like the separate time guides, but just like other locals, it is because it is quick and easy for me to see all the show times and when the park closes.

They just erased Jaws--literally there are some trees and then blank space where Jaws used to be. But the walkway still has the Amity-style dock printed on it as well as a couple Amity buildings that are, of course, no longer there.

Yep. Looked at it when this discussion started. I don't have older maps to compare, but thought it was odd since TF building looks nothing like the building on the map.

It's time consuming for them to do a lot of things involved with running the park. If they had stats saying there was a demand, i'm sure they wouldn't mind.

I was thinking of the park "going green"
They should have a text #/mobile site you can have a park map sent to your phone/ipad/tablet.
With an Update feature to give current wait times.
I hope some like this is in the works once parkwide WiFi is rolled out.

That would be ideal. I love the UOR, but to be honest, their apps have always been crap. They need to develop something simple and effective with just park map, wait times, and showtimes.

They could always print them out and ship them flat and leave it up to the guest to roll them up. :thumbs: I collect maps :look: and even have a MK Map from 1986 as well as some older UOR maps and WDW maps :look:

I totally agree their apps are fails.
I would love to see that kind of rolled up map, but I wouldn't hold my breathe on it.
