^ Thanks! Is that a berm already built around the site? Sure looks it. It used to be a flat wasteland as I recall.

Believe it or not, Turkey Lake Road actually sits a bit lower than that mass of land. Although the drive is level with the Cabana Bay plot, going south a bit further shows a slight slop as it gets closer to Sandlake Road. The most active area of the site right now is the southernmost tip. There's already a giant pile of dirt comparable to what we see at the Kongstruction plot. I also saw a stack of pilings on a flatbed. Looks like they'll need a deep foundation for their centerpiece.

Cheers :)

Taumata Racer: 8

24 adult slides plus another 12 or so for the kids...so about 36.

Summit Plummet: 1
Slush Gusher: 1
Teamboat Springs: 1
Downhill Double Dipper: 2
Toboggan Racers: 8
Snow Stormers: 3
Runoff Rapids: 3

19 adult slides plus another 4-6 for the kids...so about 25.

Thinking 30 or more slides isn't out of the question...especially if there are racers.

Cool. What do I know about water parks! I can only tell you that Universal has baked their numbers against every major water park in Central Florida, and they look very good, excessive even. Too, I am not sure that the slides alone constitute a water park. They have a few tricks up their sleeve.

Finally, there are no racers but that may have changed. I doubt it.

Fwiw I think racer slides are about as ugly as it gets for attractions.

Agreed. Would rather them go all out on theme

Same here. While racers are fun, they're over so quick and can take up a good chunk of space. Give me more family rides and body slides!

Theme is going to seperate them from other parks in the area, and give part attendees more justification for the ticket price.

You really can't count Toboggan Racers as 8 slides. It's more like 1 slide with 8 lanes. It's 1 attraction.

In attraction count, racers count as one. In terms of a parks carrying capacity they count as 8.

i believe that in this thread we are discussing both aspects.

I love Taumata Racer at Aquatica, when you pull up on your mat rather than leaning down on it ... very intense :)

If they're already moving dirt on the new water park site and we're still roughly 2.5 years away from opening, that's a real testament to the scope of the project...quite possibly/likely far above and beyond anything that's ever been done before. I'm curious if anyone knows roughly how long did Disney's water parks take to build? 2 years?

Very exciting stuff, Teebs. Thanks for the details. I'm not a big water park guy, but I have a funny feeling I will be attending this park regularly.

Clarification is in order... this post was a bit vague as I typed it quickly and was thinking only of the example at BB. There will be "racers" but they aren't toboggan style racers; no strips of toothpaste side by side by side. They're different, and seemingly more fun, and use less real estate.

As ever, this info might change slightly as construction nears, but again, I doubt it.

I'd assume the park will have both. I've never been to a water park that DOESN'T have both.

I'm sure the park will have both...I was referring to whether they will have racing body slides or racing tube slides.

That which is being referred to as "racers" will be mats. BTW, as I am unfamiliar with waterparks, I searched for racers in google images and they all look like strips of childrens toothpaste in a row. I can't figure out how anyone will know they won on this rig... perhaps a "video" and/or "photo" finish? :stunned:

They can have the slides all deviate from one starting point and then meet back up again and dump into one shared pool at the end.

Yeah, like that, but longer, perhaps a lot longer, but yeah. Odd that it didn't come up on goog images. How ironic.
