The path from Pandora to Africa is like a ridiculously long version of the Potter bypass bridge at IOA.

Very curious to see how guests utilize it - and park ops as well. If they make people exit that way it would spread the crowds out.

As it stands, AK is just starting to play with major crowd control measures. The path from the bridge to Dinoland/Digsite all the way Dino Rama's big fake dinosaur is closed and becomes the standby waiting area for ROL about 2 hours before the show.

They honestly should just make the first showing of ROL FP+ only and the second FP+ and walk up. I feel like that would solve a lot of the issues for ROL lines seeing as the second showing is always less crowded.

Alas, that's for another thread.

A seat that sits outside the attraction to test if you fit in the restraints. Forbidden Journey is the most controversial so far... although I wonder if that may change with this ride.

funny how this thread has morphed from...."will anyone show up?"...to "Animal Kingdom can't handle these crowds!"

Basically the AK will do what it can do. When they feel it is too crowded and has reached the limit they will close the park. They do it for other major holidays like New Years Eve and such. I don't think this opening will draw like that though.

Oh jeez I feel stupid. For some reason I thought everyone was talking about something on the actual ride, not the tester out front haha.

Interesting point though, why is FJ controversial? Not a true representation of the ride? I can't tell you the last time I've ever looked at a tester let alone sit in one......

...because larger people tend not to fit. It's not Universal or Disneys fault. Also, if you're really tall.

Yeah, this could get touchy real quick. But I'll just say I agree with you, not Universal or Disney's fault.

EDIT.. I think Everest is tightest ride I've ever squeezed into..

Plot twist, these test seats are actually smaller than the ride vehicles. I've been turned down at the seats only to fit on the actual ride. Granted i'm a pretty strong guy so getting the 3rd click past the belly isn't too tough for me.

Marketing is in overdrive. Oft-ignored DAK now has TV spots running nearly every commercial break on ABC. The View was live from DAK all last week. And that's on top of all the ads that started with the nighttime offerings last year that technically didn't fully materialize until this year with ROL. Plus, this is the park's first new attraction in over 10 years, so there absolutely should be a shift in interest the way there was when Everest opened .

Also, does anyone else know people who have done all 3 WDW parks but never DAK? o_O I mean, it's only coming up on it's 20th Anniversary, but this park is going to be getting quite a few first-time visitors. Exciting stuff.

AK>Epcot

I went to Epcot after not going for 8+ years and I didn't really like the park. If they add just 2 more dark rides to AK, it'll be perfect.

I know a few people that exclusively hop to HS in the morning for ToT and Rockin Roller Coaster...Then leave, go to Epcot...The next day they go to MK...The next day they go to Sea World...And finish with Universal...

There are some passholders I know that only do Everest and then leave...I'm talking families here...crazy

I believe capacity all depends on how sticky this franchise is. While EE wasn't a franchise, it had the largest grand opening I have ever seen... and then the yeti broke and the whole thing just fizzled. It will be interesting to see the staying power of this new land.

Your kitten avatar is more ferocious than the Yeti in it's present form.

I hate to admit this. We do Safari, Everest, Dinosaur, and usually one animal show. We also spend some time walking around but we're typically done with AK within four hours. I enjoy the animal exhibits but am not so wowed that I will spend hours looking at all of the placesetting or theming. My wife gets bored with it more quickly than I. So, Pandora will actually stretch out the stay and give us more reason to be there in the evening.

Yes, that was us too. Always an early & short day to AK, bored by 2:00 PM. But, I always thought it would be beautiful in the night, So now, with a little more to do (whenever the Pandora lines shorten in a couple of years :)) I'll switch times and do it from one or two PM until closing.

I can see myself doing that too, avoiding the heat will be an added benefit. This is unrelated but I was walking around the park on Sunday and out of nowhere about 10 macaws came flying right over the guest path and it was so unexpected. I know in the morning they do a show near the tree of life but I'm talking about some random guest path, near Dinosaur. It's not like we were in a show or anything so it caught everyone by surprise. A highlight from my trip.

I'm in the same boat as you. With Dinosaur down last year, there was very little to do. Including dinner at Yak and Yeti, I think we were in and out in about 3 hours.

I don't think AK is a park with much to go back for with the rest on offer at the rest of WDW, DHS included.
