Some comments online indicate Universal sent an email saying they're being provided masks. The park pushing to open under these conditions like this is certainly a choice.

I do wonder how many guests will be at the park today and if that really makes it worthwhile.

I wish I could go to today mainly see how its all impacted the crowds and everything

You assume there is pent up demand and people who had tickets who will be going this weekend sometime

The employee's its kinda a lose lose if they work like my company....like if they aren't getting paid then its another day without a pay check but at the same time the air sucks

It would be nice if we had laws protecting us from this and if conditions were like this you could get free pay on the day or at least double time pay

Its sad....we as a society just have lost all connection to our humanity. I wish things could just get better so people would not do...just horrible things like this

Feels also like in general covid has just changed how some people think. Since this is a theme park forums, almost every time I went to see the Grinch at USH there is a line that forms in front of plaza and then it opens 9/10 times people would rush in front of the line and cut it off so they could be first or wait like 5....maybe 5 less mins. It just feels like everyone is out for themselves and no one else and have zero good will towards your fellow man....
(also if you need me to edit this last part out let me know....I know looting and cutting in line are not even close to the same but the point more is every I go I just see people wanting to get there own with no regard to other people)

i am skeptical about the prevalence of looting, particularly given they were moaning about it early on in neighborhoods that were literally burning to the ground. and even this story features a cop standing in front of a burned down house. what are we talking about here? people pulling ash out of burned out lots?

I guess some people did try to loot mail rooms on my street, which was evacuated for an evening (and mercifully did not end up burning down). Not sure it's as prevalent as some people are claiming, but there have been some incidents.

I could be wrong but many neighbors that are standing but near fires wont let you back in....so if you have a house near the fire with lots of things to steal thats what they are worried about along with businesses that are closed.

I checked on it, there was a video or pictures of someone taking things from a home but then I read that it was from their own home. sadly that vid went viral but that person was helping their family :(
so it was falsely reported earlier.... people pointing fingers online without knowing.
( twitter has added a community notes explaining the real context )

This one's not looking good - spread too fast for an easy knockdown. If you're in the Santa Clarita area, stay on alert...

I live up by Magic Mountain and evacuated earlier to be with my family for the evening rather than risk having to fight southbound traffic should it keep pushing down, especially with the air starting to be as gross as it is. Passing by the entrance to the park seeing dozens of emergency vehicles and personnel everywhere was sobering, and it’s more wild that a stone’s throw away people were out in the air walking their dogs or jogging or with their kids riding bikes like everything’s normal with giant monster clouds in the background.

meant to share this earlier, but a coworker passed away in the palisades fire. i knew him, but we weren't close. i mostly share because the LA Times published a really nice obituary that i think some would enjoy reading. please be safe and please reach out if there's a way we can be supportive as a community.
