Sorry to single your post out, Nick, but w.r.t. all these excited Star Wars fans being described in the thread: I find it hard to believe that if they weren't motivated to visit by Star Tours, meet & greets with Chewbacca/BB-8/Darth Vader, a build-your-own-lightsaber shop, Star Wars fireworks, a daily Star Wars parade, etc. that they will be wowed by NahTattooine and Fuzzy Tauntauns. Other than the Millennium Falcon--which again, should have been built with Star Tours in some form--and even that features a character I assume most have never heard of.

I said they were casual fans. Star Tours or fireworks was never enough for them to care about going, I assume. They were pumped about Falcon. That is dangerous, as it could be a let down, but my point is and was that people who didn’t have a reason to care enough are mentioning it to me unprompted. I’ve heard others say things about it since my post.

I’ve had two people say similar things in the last 24 hours. I drove my wife and her pal and husband home from the pub last night. We met up in Vegas last time and are talking about another trip. The husband loves Vegas, never goes any where else but when I said that we were going to DL first, he’s read about it and wants to go. I don’t know how much of a Star Wars fan he is but for him to go anywhere else is a kind of miraculous.

In the pub today, a guy who regularly goes to Florida has put his trip off till next year because of Star Wars and he’s hardly a fan.

People are talking about it and even if the hardcore fans ‘might’ be falling out of love with the franchise, it doesn’t matter as general public far outnumber them.

Because this product actually looks good. Ask Disney how Star Wars product sales went last year ;)

Uhhh...I’m a theme park geek and a big Star Wars fan , and haven’t been to Hollywood Studios since they added all the new Star Wars stuff.

Comparing a Star Wars meet and greet / parade and a new ride film for Star Tours to a brand new land with 2 new rides, themed restaurants, and shopping is selling it just a tad short...no?

You really can’t see a difference between what’s been done before in terms of permanent attractions vs. what’ll be in this land?

The existing permanent attractions feature characters/settings the public actually cares about?

Snark aside, I return to my original point: Disney park fans will eat this up, new rides, one with animatronics. But as for Star Wars fans, no, nothing that new and innovative other than the Falcon. You can't just make "Star Wars Olivanders" and "Star Wars Honeydukes" when those didn't even get alluded to in the source material.

So the Falcon will end up the most instagrammed location in Florida ... with captions like "wish we could've ridden it but 3 hour wait" or "cool but not worth a $50 FastPass".

I don't see anyone but a hard-core fan dropping $200 on a prop lightsaber.

No one's going to talk about this?

When will the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge lands open?

 Yes, I was just about to post that myself. ...To quote Niles "As for WDW, we now are forecasting an opening date for Galaxy's Edge of October 1, 2019"....He adds that there may be softs prior to that date...........His reasons make good sense. I'm going with it since his Disney sources are generally pretty good.

Glad I booked AA for mid November last month. Once rumblings of any opening get out, on site rooms will become scarce overnight.

Once the SWGE FastPass window opens, that is going to be chaotic.

Yeah, my 60 day date is Sept. 23rd. Timing will be everything....But then again, they might have a partial 'pay to play' fastpass system by then.

Yeah, it's gonna get very interesting with all the upcharge additions SWGE will add.

Hoping that they offer the After Hours event at the same price level as the current ones. I would rather pay that then spend an entire day at DHS.

I'm already considering booking a night at a Disney Spring hotel for a night during my HHN trip to ensure a 60 day FP window if this does end up being the opening date

I was going to do that or wait till they announce any After Hours events.

I want to experience the land ASAP, I will be on edge trying to avoid spoilers from DL.

If you get free cancellation, why not. Zero risk with huge upside.

Disney is full of spoiled brats who’s parents won’t think twice about spending that.

The only problem with a one night stay on site is that the FP window on the new attractions doesn't always become available on the 60th day. On FOP, for example, during most of it's first 12 months of operation, FP's weren't available until day 64 (per studies from Touring Plans). Same will probably happen with GESWL, unless they do a 'pay to play' FP add on system.

This is true...the problem with the fast pass system is that it’s based on 60 days from “arrival”. Since so many people book weekly vacations, you are much less likely to get a fast pass 60 days in advance. I stayed 4 days last time I went , and could only get a fast pass for FOP on the last day of our vacation.

Once again it becomes a class issue. A lot of people can barely afford one day at Disney , let alone week including hotel on a Disney property.

Yeah, that worked true to the average (64)..... And just this past week they closed the hotel days vs. ticket loophole. If you reserve one night, you only get one day of your multi day ticket for a 60 day window).
