Not a big Star Wars fan, but Disney turning their "Eye of Saron" on the IP has me concerned. Multiple new movies, TV shows, games, theme park expansions, etc.

I am guessing Disney will beat the IP to within an inch of its life with super saturation marketing. With the brain trust at corporate Disney seeing $$$$$ in the IP, I bet Star Wars will be as hip as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? soon.

I don't think it's possible for SW to be any more saturated in terms of marketing and merchandise than it already is.

I guess it doesn't preclude future expansion.... But this would fall sqaurely in the category of cheaping out on their cheap out.

If this turns out to be true I can't even tell you how disappointed I will be with Disney. This is exactly what frustrates me about Disney. You own the rights to one of the biggest and most successful trilogies ever(right behind Potter) and your going to cheap out on a game changing theme park opportunity?! I mean at least build one new E-Ticket for the park or maybe at least re theme the Honey I shrunk the Kids play area?! Your really going to punk out and keep Cars more of an option over STAR WARS? a franchise you spent millions and millions to own?! Instead of saying wow, we got all this money and we could really answer to Universal's new plans by straightening up DHS with exciting new attractions of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and also Cars they're going to build a kiddie Star Wars ride and bring a half assed Cars land to DHS? I'm sorry but if this was Universal they would be going ALL OUT to build an amazing Star Wars land that paid tribute to all fans alike! With all the money that Disney has they could easily just say hey, let's build a new Star Wars land and ride, bring an Indiana Jones ride to Orlando along with half assed Cars Land(because that's what it will be sadly) and stir things up a bit! Just commit to it and stop being such lazy cheap wads! I'm sick of it already! :saw:

This has been covered ad naseum on WDW Magic, but it's a new E-ticket bike coaster for Starwars + lots of other theme elements (restaurant, shops). The real focus of the expansion to DHS (budget wise) will be Starwars.

Cars will play second fiddle. If it is not the cloned RSR it will be a different attraction entirely, not just RSR with the outdoor portion randomly lopped off. I imagine the whole race conceit of the attraction would be dropped and we'd wind up with a longer tour through Radiator Springs. All the money saved on rock work would be rolled into a better dark ride and Starwars.

Personally I love RSR but have no allegiance to Orlando. I'd rather they get something different so I'm happy with a re-imagined Cars Dark Ride.

Muppets may move into the Little Mermaid theatre as a new attraction.

I realize people love speculating, but this is the most current information that the insiders (many of them) all agree upon.

One way or the other Disney will have to firm up on their plans and we will know for sure at D23 in August.

I like the idea of Muppets moving and maybe getting revamped. I am not a fan of LM or Muppets as they are today. They are very dated and really need to change. So really this would be a win if they did this.

I really don't see Star Wars being a Simpson like redo, I just think it couldn't be advertised to their advantage enough. They need something they can advertise to bring people in. Unlike Uni where they needed more guest spending while in the park because TF was the big draw. I don't see Cars and Star Wars opening the same year like TF & Simpsons. So what advertising could Disney really do with a kiddie ride? Just makes no sense, so I want to say the rumors from WDWMagic seem more solid than the other rumor.

I also kind of like the RSR being different. If they have the race portion then it will be too similar to Test Track. By maybe making it a better inside dark ride, it won't be so much like test track and also be a reason to visit both CA and Orlando still. I don't know if taking out the race portion is a money decision or more of a decision to not have two very similar rides in the same area and also still giving CA the unique factor. We all hate when they just clone a ride, but now we hate when they change a ride.

The rumor has it that they are going to do BOTH Cars Land and Star Wars Land for $600 Million. Considering that the New Fantasyland cost $425 Million, I am preparing to be underwhelmed.

my theory is IF they re doing a small expansion the reason is.....do a small expansion now to wet the appetite for star wars fans and then go all in with it after the new movies start...i mean you already have an e ticket ride and a month dedicated to star wars so its not like nothing is happening

i actually like the idea of doing both star wars and cars because it hits different demographics, along with avatar you re bringing in different groups/demographics

d23 will be pretty exciting

Sorry, but a restaurant isn't going to bring people in in droves. The new version of Star Tours didn't move the needle at the Studios. A restaurant isn't going to either.

I am preparing to be middle of the road for this one. NFL had a lot of rock work that my guess was expensive. So if they take out some of that they could do something OK. I don't think this will be the best thing since HP, but I also don't think this will be a piece of crap no one will like. I think it will be middle of the road, which is better than nothing and should give us some additional rides that studios really needs. Now the question is can they add enough rides to make up for the capacity they will be taking out. That is my concern.

Same. The rumored plans don't make me hopeful on that one though. It sounds like replacements more than additions.

How many rides does CA carsland have? I never kept up with that addition enough to know.

So they are getting rid of Lights, Motors, Action and backstage tour for sure.

It is rumored that Jones could go, but I just don't see both big theaters going, that seems a bit of a hit to capacity.

It is rumored LM will go.

So that is a total of 4 rides potentially leaving, so we would get one new addition in SW and how many in carsland...

I actually think that The Mos Eisley Cantina will be a big draw for Star Wars Fans. Right up there with Three Broomsticks and Moe's.

And here is me just thinking, but I would love for them to rework Star Tours and have the entrance in Mos Eisley Spaceport and the exit be on the Moon of Endor. That way it actually feels like it took you to a different planet. And the Moon of Endor is a better location for a speeder bike coaster.

Because R&D costs $$$$$ and they are trying to save money in R&D to give more for less. It is why clones happen all the time.

i would agree with you although i would like to see what ideas they have for an expanded pixar place because visually cars land is stunning

from a themed land perspective it makes sense to expand pixar place and not have a cars land at DHS
