The best thing with this trailer is of two things.

How they immediately show Superman as a vulnerable being physically, I think is a great way to help detract him from being inheritedly seen as a good (a pitfall that Snyder had), and I adore how we get to see the consensus not really jive with Superman.

The fact this is a mainly dialogue less trailer outside of like, 6 lines is also kind of impressive.

As a designer, when I watch trailers I pay attention to the presentation of type in a trailer...and when I see that cliche chrome type with lens flare slowly expanding toward the camera attempting to be dramatic, it just says "typical Hollywood-machine crap" to me. Hundreds of people just going through the paces, copying every safe trope and approach taken before them.

I'm interested in seeing a bold, creative vision and so far I don't get that from this trailer.

Glad I'm not the only one

I like Gunn but the trailer wasn't what I was hoping for.
GOTG for example even the first trailer because of the music felt like it had more energy

Also GOTG 3 trailer

I know people are going to be yout nitpicking but....Gunn keeps saying Superman is make or break for the new DC....did that trailer feel like everything is riding on it? Felt like another super hero trailer.

It's a Teaser. How about we pump the brakes for right now with this?

Superman is, legitimately, one of my least favorite superheroes, but this teaser legitimately has caught my attention in a good way.

I’ve been waiting for somebody to get Superman “right” in a new movie for my entire life (Christopher Reeve exited the role the year I was born).

I wish I could say this teaser gave me confidence, but it doesn’t. It doesn’t look like nearly as much of a departure from the Zack Snyder tone as I was hoping.

I'm just reacting to what I see! I was hoping for a more upbeat tone as the first introduction to this new incarnation.

(I'm judging the teaser, not the movie.)

I agree I got the same feeling ....

I understand the value restraint and reserving judgement. But also, when you spend hundreds of millions of dollars and years making a movie, isn't the teaser/trailer designed for exactly that purpose: to make an impression?

I don't want to be unfair but I do think, for better or worse, that is the whole point.

As someone who loved Cavill and appreciated Snyder's reign in DC, I think this looks good! I love the synergy that I feel from these characters. I do feel a bit more confident now that Gunn mentioned Superman will be grounded. I think my only issue with everything is Corensweat's physique. He doesn't have the Superman build that Cavill oozed.

There's been bad trailers for great movies and great trailers for bad movies. My concern isn't whether a trailer leaves a good impression; it's about the tendency to frame everything in make-or-break terms. It's simply too early for that. With comic book movies, especially from DC, it seems like everyone is quick to pass judgment before any substantial content is revealed. This happened with Ledger, Affleck, Pattinson, etc.

Why did they go back to the Flash desert with the military goons and the excessive circular camera movement?

Looks good, imo.

Im not seeing the teaser so far as I like to be surprised, but all I hope is that this Lex Luthor is finally a proper adaptation of the “cold and cool yet cruel businessman/supervillain” as he was in the 80s-present comics and the DCAU. Donner and Snyder’s Luthor’s were rather idiotic in and out of themselves.

Also I heard Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and a green lantern guy are in this movie?

Does anyone here have hope that WB will finally be able to launch a MCU level universe? A common complaint with most of the DC movies released in recent memory is they just don't go all the way due in terms of what they could do with these characters and stories.

I could've sworn Gunn in talking about the DCU is that he wants to threat things not necessarily like the MCU--but more in the terms of Star Wars. In that not everything *has* to be connected to a larger story, but that it fuels and enrichens the universe at large.

He has and even said some stories will happen in the universe but not be apart of the main story

so for example Were wolf at night, which at least for now takes place in the MCU but in no way affects the may MCU story.

This is 100% my stance as well, for the most part I really don't go for Superman. But I thought this teaser was pleasantly intriguing, so it's got my attention as well and that's saying something.

I love Superman and I want this to break a billion at the box office. Smallville is one of my favorite shows ever and I feel like Superman deserves a hit and cultural relevance on the level of the first Iron Man or the like
