TEA/AECOM Attendance Report for 2022 has been released... does not paint a pretty picture for WDW.

WDW: 47.1M (80% recovery compared to 2019)
UOR: 21.7M (102% recovery compared to 2019)

Rankings by Attendance (Orlando):
  1. Magic Kingdom - 17.1M (82% recovered)
  2. Islands of Adventure - 11.1M (80% recovered)
  3. Hollywood Studios - 10.9M (95% recovered)
  4. Universal Studios - 10.8M (65% recovered)
  5. Epcot - 10.0M (98% recovered)
  6. Animal Kingdom - 9.0M (65% recovered)

Obviously, these are estimates and not actuals, but that shouldn't stop us from discussing the massive growth at UOR and the decline at WDW.

to some extent, this is essentially what disney wants, right? lower attendance with higher guest spend, which is eluded to in the report as well.

Maybe this year they won’t need to retract the report and adjust the numbers because they got it wrong. Also in my job the data here would be discarded.

The data from last year was atrocious but this year's report is decent at showing the trends previously reported over the last few years.

I mean this tracks

WDW isn't really adding enough to draw in you for what it costs now. I'm honestly waiting for Epic Universe to open before heading over there again, which yes Disney will be getting my money still but not as much as they could if they added more attractions.

But in the end if they are making the same if not more money with less guests then they are still going to spin it as a good thing but they are still leaving lots of money on the table by not having much in the future people care about.

Some correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Tiana’s Bayou Adventure the next big attraction and last thing we 100% know is coming to the parks? ( I know the Moana walkthrough is happening as well but thats just a fun thing not something that would get people in a plane and fly to WDW)

I'm trying to figure out why they have them still ranked by their 2019 numbers. We are back to "normal" for all intents and purposes, it's time to rank them the way they should be, not the way they were.

I mean we have both numbers

I like to see how in the "new" normal they can't attract as many guests when I bet USH will have one of if not its best year ever in attendance

We just got out of the big boom of people traveling and rumors are things are slowing down, so it's also a sign that next year numbers wont be for many parks are strong as last year and last yea most of the WDW parks could not get people back during a travel boom.

For the top parks, but the lower ranking regional parks should have had some fall off and been replaced by others. Six Flags Great Adventure with 2.1 million shouldn't even make the list when there are other parks that did higher numbers.

The 2019 numbers are fine, it's why are they still ranked by the 2019 numbers?

2023 continues to look weaker than 2022. WDW just announced another large hotel discount that's effective for most of the remainder of 2023 including the Holiday Season. Looks like every hotel....Obvious that advanced hotel bookings are lagging.

Im curious about how all of the travel advisories for Florida will affect the parks. We just flew to Mexico instead of Miami because of them.

Black engineers, Game of Thrones fans cancel Orlando events over political concerns

Black engineers and “Game of Thrones” fans are the latest groups canceling Orlando events and attributing their decisions to Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida’s political climate.

I no longer live in FL - my observation around where I am now is that the news stories coming out of the state have 100% impacted people's willingness/desire to travel there. I've literally heard "I'm not giving that state my tax dollars." It's probably actually a double whammy - trying to play the objective observer here, but there are people who are choosing to go other places because of the state's policies/laws and there are also people who are choosing to go other places because Disney is "woke" etc.

Really just unfortunate for the state all around since the Northeast and Southeast (generalizing here, but those two regions kind of align with the two sides I described above) make up the vast majority of non-FL resident domestic visitation.

And you would think a Government sponsored ad like this would have people flocking here.

I know we are supposed to stay away from politics on this forum, but "they" are making that increasingly more difficult by the day.

1. (They, meaning "not the Democrats")

I just stayed at Saratoga for the week. Parks are confirmed dead. Universal id describe as manageable. Never felt too bad.
