The Future of Lost Continent (Poseidon Fury closing May 9)

I thought that rides like Spiderman and Forbidden Journey are what made Universal famous......not its coasters.

Universal is by no means a coaster park but it wouldn't be the same without them.



Highly doubt DC is going anywhere anytime soon.

With how big the Dragon Challenge area is, you could probably fit another attraction in there as well. I'd say the Ford Anglia should be used as a flat ride rather than dark ride since it'd be a little too similar to FJ.

Now, an Expedition - Everest style coaster themed to the TriWizard Tournament (Buckbeak could even be the ride vehicle, and it could even be suspended) would be perfect. Amber Mine and Mt. Crumpet as the family/kiddie coasters, Hulk and potentially whatever replaces Middle Earth as the thrill coasters, and this one as a family/thrill hybrid (46" height requirement)
And Lorax would probably go where the plot next to Cat is.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying tho. I don't think DC is going away soon, but that might mean more time for Universal Creative to plan a bigger, better Phase III. In the space where DC is, I mentioned this before, I would put the Great Hall just behind where Olivander's is, connect the two and turn it into Aberforth's home saying that we will travel to Hogwarts through a secret passage. The restaurant could have huge capacity with maybe 3 replicas of the same GH :shrug: And with the space left, put in the Everest styled coaster. And if they want to do away with FoTH, they could possibly squeeze in a Thestral Carriage Dark Ride about the "Fantastic Beasts" that live in the Forbidden Forest. With that idea, you could still have Hagrid's Hut present. Phase III Let's go!

I agree that Dragon Challenge/HP 3.0 is the lowest on Uni's concerns. KidZone, LC, TL, Seuss, JP, World Expo, San Francisco, and Production Central could all use either new attractions, plussing, or a replacement/retooling before DC gets removed

Coasters that made them famous? Universal isn't a six flags or Busch gardens whatsoever. The only really memorable rollercoaster in the resort is really the hulk. Everybody else mistakes rockit for RnRC and dragon challenge becoming stale. Universal is now making classic rides like FJ, transformers and despicable me that will stand the test of time for decades in the future. If you really only see universal as a coaster park you haven't been

Any true Universal lover doesn't see it as just a 'coaster park', but at the same time a true Universal lover highly respects the reputation of Universal Orlando coasters. As good as it sounds to dismantle the coaster and ship it off somewhere, or just plain demolish it, it's not going to happen anytime soon...DC will forever be one of IOA's signature rides, dueling or not, 'Dueling Dragons' or not. ULTIMATELY, I just do not see UO getting rid of DC anytime soon.

I agree completely, but at the same time I don't...All the lands at UO could use some tweaking, but you have to realize the limited amount of space to grow on there...The only things that should be up on the chopping block for expansion/updating is ET+KidZone...(Maybe finally get rid of that horrid Feivel's playland)

The first two films were geared towards kids, the third served as a transition (borderline PG-13), while the latter entries are indeed teen/adult orientated. But the mythical creatures and spells make HP easy to build a children's/family ride around.

I'm of the opinion every area of the park should have a family ride of some sort unless that area's IP is undeniably incapable of coming up with a viable option. You can have a Broomsticks or Ford Anglia flat ride, a Fantastic Beasts dark ride, perhaps take Dragon Challenge and turn it into a more family-friendly (think Everest or Space Mountain) but still thrilling coaster.

I do agree not many young children like HP, but they should still have options for when their families drag them into WWOHP for hours

I couldn't help but think how great LC used to be before Harry Potter. Harry Potter is here to stay and today I went to the park and was thinking LC has ran its course. It's time. Would be awesome if Suess had Two E Tickets as every other land in IOA except Jurassic.

I know this has been mentioned before but Poseidon could and should be used as some kind of ride. I heard majority of the people complaining about the wait to *Walk through* an attraction.
The wait time today around 11 was 25 minutes. We waited about 15 minute before the attendant came and another 10-15 minute after to enter the first set. During the tour a child vomited violently on the floor and on people in front of him. Being that this wasn't a ride and it was in a dark room with dozens of people packed together, it was a bad situation.

It made me wonder how they could have guest wanting to return to that attraction. ( Not because of the vomit but the, waiting and waiting and waiting while standing. The carasoul of progress at Magic Kingdom is an example of people going through sets but sitting. Same with the Earth ride at Epcot. Everyone was tired by the time we got through the first set 40 or so minutes after walking under the queue sign.

LC used to be my favorite land, but I do think it is time. The Sinbad show is cool, but it's time. The Magic Fountain can be re-themed or re-purposed for the same guest interaction. It always draws a crowd.

Is there anything tht can be realistically done to LC ? While keeping a transition between Suess and Harry?

Wonka was rumored to have a family boat ride through the chocolate factory, a glass elevator E-ticket and parachute drop ride themed to the floating scene from the film. Would have been a transition for Potter and Seuss (London-themed by Potter, children's book by Seuss)

Whoville is just an idea I had... Horton family boat ride like Small World and a Grinch E-ticket similar to either Matterhorn in DL or JttCotE at DisneySea. This would allow the plot by Cat to be a Lorax dark ride and you could use the Grinchmas soundstage for a yearround Seussical-style show. Put a flat ride on Sneetch Beach and fix Seuss Trolley. Give Cat a nice upgrade.

Still, more Potter isn't the solution... Seuss has the most potential for new IPs and using LC would finally give Seuss Landing an opportunity to equal or surpass Fantasyland. Only one dark ride to Fantasyland's 4 is bad. Horton and Lorax would bring it up to 3. Grinch would probably be an indoor family coaster (38") so it could be considered a 4th.

If the LC theme absolutely has to go, then I want something new. If Lost Continent absolutely must become either more Potter or more Seuss... I gotta go with more Potter. Seuss has an unused expansion plot, and (this is a dumb reason, but) I like the land to end right at the bridge. But, if I had my choice, I'd keep LC and just improve its offerings.

Well there isn't any reason to add to lost continent anymore, it wouldn't bring crowds in at all. I'd be like if they replaced the toon theater with a Betty boop ride, just pointless. Personally if I were to do something to it I would either add Seuss in the Atlantis part then in the sinbad section add another mini land like kong (the toon theater should be a kong like mini land aswell) in that case we get a cool expansion and a new IP. Way more productive than trying to give Poseidon's fury a third facelift (Jesus it sounds like a Californian teenager)

Once again...they don't need a park full of huge IP's...I don't know what it is with people and their fascination of having the next best thing plastered over everything. Its all about balance. Too much of one thing will destroy the item being spoken of. Kind of like drugs...too much can kill you but just the right amount stimulates all of your senses. IOA doesn't need to stock up on the next big IP to attract people. The numbers speak for themselves...Harry Potter is doing that for them. Kong isn't even to attract more people but rather its to give people another reason to visit on top of everything else they have.

Balance...it's vital.

Not really if its a high classed theme coaster...Dueling dragons brought people to IOA who didn't know anything about what the story or IP attached to it is. If you can market it well, the people will come. IPs just make it easy for marketing to be lazy rather than actually creative.

Well LC is a shell of a land now. Its two attractions are generally considered lacking (people seem underwhelmed by both), and I personally see the island being used for expansion. JP, TL in general and Seuss are the other three non Kong areas for expansion. LC has become fairly forgettable despite the beautiful exterior.

I'd love if Mythos could stay... maybe Citywalk?
