I think the truth's in the middle. Sinbad was a bad show from the very beginning and never attracted guests or garnered the reactions the resort wanted. Instead of trying to revise the show (as they did with the neighboring Poseidon's Fury), they let it stagnate further for almost two decades. Their inaction means the death was inevitable, but it's frustrating they never tried to make it better. It's worse that we now have two vacant theaters, with no one on staff apparently able to write a show of this scale.

Actually, they did revise the show two or three years before shutting it permanently. They closed it for a good while, retooled and altered the show scenes and script, changed the martial arts type, and redid the stage/effects which were in disrepair. The new show was a mild improvement, and the script was less corny ( a good thing)....but it just never caught on with the public. Perhaps the Sindbad theme was just not the GP's cup of tea.

I think Sindbad is just a theme that modern audiences don't really know. The Greek Gods are fairly familiar to the layperson, but Sindbad has never really been much of a staple in the west.

If the show had been a Hercules themed one, I wonder if it would still be running today...

If Universal doesn't want to put big shows in them, I wish at least one of those theaters would be annexed for a dark ride. I really don't like having two venues of that size not contributing to the daily roster of attractions.

Especially when they're both in the same park. From looking at Google Maps, the Toon Lagoon amphitheater is roughly the same size as the Cat in the Hat show building. These areas could definitely provide enough space for something.

They absolutely could, and I'd guess UC has a laundry list of replacements ready to go into them (and Toon Lagoon, and all of Lost Continent, and Marvel Superhero Island) just as soon as someone in charge decides it's a necessity or makes business sense. Until then they'll sit empty and maybe occasionally get used for special events.

It's no different than Disney leaving things unused or under used, but at Magic Kingdom that makes ZERO sense since they have higher attendance numbers and need all the attraction capacity they can get.

Now if suddenly Universal's attendance shot up by a couple of million guests a year and they REALLY needed the capacity, they would probably begin demolition and build new attractions in their place tomorrow.

I think after Epic opens they're attendance should be higher so Im thinking these are things addressed come 2023.

Maybe-- unless EU cannibalizes attendance at the original parks. Then they'll quickly add things to try and draw people back over to the north campus. Same outcome, different cause.

Very true and thats mine, and I'm sure Universal's worry. I still think Potter will help with that problem. Especially if SLOP goes to USF for 2022, that'd help big time along with Hagrid's and JP coaster still being relatively new additions. Id think 2024/2025 they'll be a big opening at either IOA or USF. Whether its Lost Continent first, who knows.

I just hope that they don't get cold feet and cut spending at a time when they need to increase it. They really need to go all in with EU and new attractions for IoA, USF, and VB all in 2023. Make an all out play for those vacation dollars!

They're not gonna open anything else other than the EU property in 2023. If any year they don't want people going to IOA or USF, its 2023. Gotta get people in that new park asap, then update the main campus immediately after. Dream scenario: 2023 epic universe, 2024 Pokemon phase 1 in Kidzone, 2025 LOTR in Toon Lagoon or here in Lost Continent. THAT would be quite the splash in Orlando.

Just my hypothetical haha. In my hypothetical, Pokemon takes over Kidzone. Once Springfield is torn down Pokemon phase 2 takes that plot over. Add another ride and dining experiences.

It's crazy to think about this area not being changed for almost 5 years. I know Mythos still draws people and PF gets a small group when it gets hot, but it's sad to think they won't do anything to boost the "cut through" area to Hogsmead. I understand them putting all their money into EU for now.

I know the Sinbad show was dated, but was it really loosing money from operating costs? How bad was attendance in the end?

True, but that uncomfortable feeling from a cheesy show doesn't always translate, ya know?
