I think we may need to talk about the potentially bigger news on this show. From the Deadline Last of Us Exclusive last night:

Pascal currently stars in Disney+’s hugely popular and acclaimed series The Mandalorian, which recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama Series. He will continue on the Star Wars series, where he is used sparingly because of the nature of his character, though The Last Of Us has him in first position.

The actor recently became available for a new series, attracting multiple big offers from top premium networks and streamers, opting to do The Last Of Us.

I think it's no coincidence this was released last night amongst the Gina Carano stuff and look at that wording: "The actor recently became available for a new series" and something that sounds like a gripe, mentioning how he was "sparingly" used in Mandalorian, but he's in "first position" in The Last of Us.

That tells me his priorities are with TLoU right now and if he can make time for Mando Season 3, then maybe it'll happen. We haven't heard anything as of now when it comes to season 3, so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we just end up not getting one.

I think they’re saying this because he physically isn’t in the role much when the helmet is on. He can do voiceover work easily and put more time on set for TLoU.

It sounded like Mando s3 wouldn’t be coming until 2022 anyway since Book of Boba is this December.

I mean, yeah, Mando S3 wouldn't be until 2022, i'm just keeping an eye out. The recently came available part is interesting to me because there's nothing I know of that he was attached to that got canceled or anything and we know that there's been rumors of him being unhappy in the role. Just something to monitor.

If Disney already has performers and he can continue to do the voicing and the scenes when he's needed, great. Win-win for everybody. Obviously The Last of Us if he's the main face, would be a very different animal.

I decided against jumping into the Mando thread. I do think it is funny that it was pointed out over there that the right wing were apoplectic when Disney hired her because it was just Disney being "woke" pushing their feminist agenda. Now those very same people are apoplectic that she was fired because of "cancel culture"

After season 2, I don’t know how they’re really going to be able to top it. Having that cameo was like using their big gun.

With the multitude of new series coming, having him appear now and then could be better.

Maybe having less of Mando might be more.

James Gunn was fired for tweets he had made MANY YEARS prior. He had clearly grown up since those tweets. I don't know what you're talking about in regards to Pedro, but Gina is posting this stuff in real time, much different than James Gunn, who was fired as an overreaction. Gina Carano has been tweeting/instagraming these "controversial" (i.e. disgusting) things for MONTHS if not years.

There's obviously some restraint that should be practiced by someone as public facing as her

The article in Hollywood Reporter yesterday said Disney was looking for a reason to fire her for months and this gave it to them. They probably didn't want to fire her over the election stuff because that would only have made her look like a marauder and they also probably just didn't want to fire someone over political expression.

I do recall the Pedro tweet, though he made that reference in criticizing the whole border patrol situation/children in cages etc. For me, that's a more appropriate context than what Gina has tweeted.

Detaining people that crossed the boarder illegally is b a s i c a l l y the same as killing jews

It would be a start but I doubt it would happen.

Also, James Gunn making tasteless offensive jokes 10 years ago is one thing, posting targeted hate speech and conspiracy theories about covid recently while millions of people have died is something completely different.
