Why is the food at the American Pavilion the worst of all of them? Hell it is the worst of all of Florida... except maybe Boston Market. It's a friggin hamburger cafeteria. Ugly design, phony costumes and gag-a-maggot food. It should be great American inventions like Cajun, Texas/Kentucky barbeque, Eastern greats and California chic and weird. Maybe two or four different mini restaurants.

Im in agreement with @Mad Dog

My personal view on Epcot in its current state is value. High admission cost for what i feel is little return on what you experience. Its like a giant museum of sorts.. great for photo ops and small glimpse of what its like to be in "that" country your strolling by but outside of that theres nothing to write home about.. Identity wise you walk into the park and its a flower garden park like what Lego land was prior to becoming Lego land lol then if you go right to start your adventure theres such a huge gap with out attractions Canada UK France Morocco.. etc they do a great job at show casing these microscopic versions of these countries but perhaps some more attractions pertaining to these countries of course not a full blown ride at each country but maybe every other country some type of ride whether theater/ boat ride/ from E ticket to C level attractions etc. something to make you want to go into these countries after seeing them more than once.
Disney really has no excuse for not being able to provide something like this. They can do so much more than only offer food and photo ops at these places.

It bothers me that Disney sat on their hands for 20 years, living off of their own brand to drive attendance to the park. Things like what Teebin described above are examples of how they treat their product.

I couldn't agree more. It should be setup like the Land counter service place is setup only each station be a different type of food. Cajun, BBQ, etc. If they want one to be burgers, that is fine, but make it better burgers, unique ones along with unique hot dogs like a Chicago Dog and unique sandwiches like a Philly Cheese-steak. Right now it is just a kid's food haven that my family avoids. Our country offers more foods than what typical little kids eat.

But then again that is my complaint about all the parks, is that they cater to little kid food too much. Too many burger joints in all the parks (Uni and Disney) and not enough actual food. Pain in the butt for my family since my daughter really doesn't like kid's food and it is looking like my 1 year old is following in her footsteps. She despised baby food and wanted Brisket instead :)

I have a LOT of thoughts about Epcot as it is the park that I basically grew up with since it first opened...my father worked on the computer systems at that time (and could be seen in the Astuter Computer Revue/Backstage Magic show).

Anyway, I think with some creative minds and investment from some of the top technology companies, Epcot could be a "cool" place and still feature future technology.

Ironically, at the very time that geeks and technical people were becoming more prominent and popular in our daily lives, Epcot began moving away from that.

Anyway, here is what I would do:

Keep WS and add some minor things, I think we're in agreement on that.

FUTURE WORLD, however could use some radical re-designs.

Pretty much the only attractions that are relatively fine are Test Track and Spaceship Earth, the rest could use some changes.

I would take the spinning portion entirely out of Mission:Space....let me explain. I've heard they're running most of the simulators on the GREEN, non-spinning side now, and if they don't spin...the whole idea of a ride you actually interact with comes into play. The scenes and experiences can change depending on your input. It couldn't happen with the spinning ones because the other centrifuge portions relied on all experiences being the same...movement-wise.

Right now, Mission:Space relies heavily on buttons and controls that are basically FAKE and don't affect anything. It's seriously bad for that reason IMO.

I would fix the ending of Spaceship Earth and change the narrator...let's get Patrick Stewart or Neil Degrasse Tyson and a better script and stop trying to pander to little kids all the time.

Innoventions....let's make the entire central plaza area under one clear geodesic dome (yes I know there's already 3 other Geodesic structures in Epcot...why not 1 more) so it's more weatherproof.

Open up Innoventions to the central dome area and make it brighter and more inviting. Communicore was always said to be like the "Main Street" of Epcot, but ironically most people can pass right by and never actually go inside.

I think Epcot should basically take on its own identity outside of the standard Disney parks and advertise itself to the Science/Discovery channel types...Open a large area where the old Wonders of Life pavilion is...or even replace the whole building...have TED Talks presented there, have Battlebots competitions or other robotics competitions that are open to the public and advertised more....let the guests build their robots and compete while they're in the park for an hour.

Let kids share their ideas for the future, similar to the poll taken about the person of the century.

Bring back the educational field trips for local schools like we had in the 80's and have "Dine with a scientist" or similar types of experiences.

Bring in more technology shows which don't rely on special contracts that have been like a boat anchor for Epcot in allowing other vendors. Bring in the brightest minds to discuss attractions for the future, the ones who are actually going out and building the future now.

This is just some of the ideas I have for this shell of a park. Sometimes I wish another company would just buy it out from Disney and license everything, then build it up.

Unfortunately, big tech companies have no interest in setting up shop in Future World when they can get their name out there much cheaper online.

I almost think Disney would have to PAY to get a big tech company back into FW.

The sponsor idea of Epcot should have gone away a long time ago. Its really hard to swallow that Disney won't invest in something unless someone else is footing the bill.

Siemens is a fairly unknown company by the GP though.

It'd be really tough to get an Apple, Microsoft, Google or even Tesla (which would be great as a sponsor for Energy Pavilion) to sign on.

Funny, I read this and looked 8" down and to the left and eyed a Siemens document clip laying on my desk. I believe they are making appliances now and I opened one of their fridges to get half n half for my coffee today.

But you are not the General Public really. Someone like you is much more inclined to know about them than say a mom from Iowa.

Yes, I will agree with you that when that refrigerator was installed 6 months ago, I was shocked to see the Siemens logo on it.

Why are you all going to America to eat when you have all the other pavilions to go to? We live in America, walk down the street to McDonald's and your technically eating American. Also say what you want, those funnel cakes are the best

Personally, I'd never (as an American) want to eat at the American Pavilion. The whole purpose of World Showcase is to explore different cultures and food. People that eat at the American Pavilion get what they deserve. I'm sure people of different nationalities find the food in their pavilion to be lacking as well.

it reminds me of those folks (I know a few), that eat at TGI Fridays when they are visiting New York.

That's why the American Adventure food is what it is, and honestly I kind of don't mind. There and the Electric Umbrella are the only two places that serve "traditional" theme park fare like burgers and the like. If I'm in Epcot I'm not eating QS anyway

I do think turning the pavilion into a "Gastropub" of sorts would probably fit in better with the rest of the country offerings though. I know TGI Fridays, but even they are throwing a fried egg on their burgers these days. American fast food has become a lot more sophisticated then just McDonalds in the past decade.

You make a good point. It's like when I see posters on different sites complaining about Mythos' menu since they don't have more McDonalds' type food for their kids. So many people have such pedestrian food tastes. Hamburgers, French Fries, Chicken tenders, Hot dogs every meal, every day, at home & vacation. That's probably the reason Disney returned Hamburgers to the Pecos Bill menu a couple of weeks ago.
