Heres the thing, Frozen is so far; the biggest success in Disneys Animation portfolio outside of Pixar (still reserving to say that for Zootopia, but we'll see). You can't make Frostrom a FP only attraction, as to say it bluntly; it would make a LOT of people VERY angry.

That though; should be saved, to the Frozen coming to Norway thread though, so yeah..

Agreed. Also, I have heard no such rumors.

I think one of the latest Jim Hill pod-casts talked about it but I think he mentioned it was a proposed idea but it doesn't look like it will happen.

My guess would be stand by remains. Last year they did a fastpass only test on Toy Story Mania. They didn't switch over after the test. But, I would imagine that you'll have to book your FP+ the first day they are available, and the stand by lines, during the first year, will be many hours long. Guest Relations will have to put on extra staff to deal with the unhappy tourists who scheduled a vacation because of Frozen but couldn't ride it because they didn't book an on site hotel.

This is why I don't think it will work or any ride will convert. Because for hot rides it is very hard to get FPs if you are not vacationing on-site. They can't have their most popular ride in a park not be available to any guest who doesn't stay on site. The PR and guest relations nightmare would be too much.

Also, the test they ran was for the 3rd track being added. It wasn't to test that they could do this in the future.

Side note: lots of talk of low capacity on Maelstrom, which is true, but that was an operational choice.

Technically the ride system can go faster, there can be more boats, and the theoretical capacity is back up around 2000 for guests per hour.

That requires throwing staff at the ride to get people on and off extremely fast. We shall see if that happens.

We had a great server at Portofino's Thirsty Fish when we were there with UK Trigg. He was so good (his name is Seth), we went there and drank 4 more nights. Anyway, he said he just moved up from Miami, and he and his friends did the Uni parks for the first time last week & loved them. He said he loved Middle Eastern food so I suggested Morocco at Epcot. His reply was, "isn't that the park with no rides?". I laughed, but he was certainly pretty close to the truth. I guess the word is getting out. :)

Meanwhile, there are still people that rank Epcot as their favorite park in WDW, their favorite park in Orlando, and their favorite park period. And it just.. boggles my mind.

The booze is part of a strategic plan. Get 'em to spend enough money/drunk enough and they'll forget how bad the park is.

And some of those nasty Wal Mart type women pushing double wide strollers might even look good if you drink enough.

I think people honestly mean 80's Epcot when they say it. I don't think anyone in their right mind would mean present day Epcot.

It's a festival park now. They're selling the long term for the last remaining bits of short term gains.

On forums maybe. But I know plenty of people irl who absolutely LOVE Epcot and it has nothing to do with the rides. The only thing they ever talk about is food/drinks. When I say that, I think to myself: "You could just go to Disney Springs for free if you want good food and some booze".

My friends love Epcot. They can't get enough of it and they are a typical family of 4.

I don't find Epcot all that bad. I get that nostalgia feeling, when I go there. I like the flower & garden festival, for all the different food stands. I absolutely love Test Track, probably my favorite Disney ride. It's not in the best shape, but I really do enjoy going there with the park hopper.

Future World is like walking into a historical preservation museum (with only bits and pieces remaining) instead of the science museum aspects that it used to be and World Showcase is food/booze central, and also functions as a cultural museum. So it kind of lived out its destiny as a "permanent World's Fair", because obviously the thing about those were that they were usually only open two years and then packed its bags. But here Epcot is just... still there.

Yet at the same time I like it because it's just so damn unique. It really is just its own thing.

EPCOT is my favorite Disney park. I'd be lying if I said nostalgia isn't a part of it, but the vibe is so laid back and so different than MK which is pretty much chaos personified. Even the CMs are nicer. I love it. But, FW needs help. And the sulfur/sewer smell outside of TT is friggin nasty. I mean really, what is that?
