Went to the event tonight. The upside was FJ had 10-20 minute wait. The downside was the very long line for the lanyard and pin only to find out they were gone. Rumor in the line was Universal had 4500 people RSVP but only ordered 500 pins/lanyards. Plenty of posters though. As we were leaving an employee said that if you registered by email and couldn't get the pin, you'll get an email from Universal about how to order the pin. Still, it was a nice night and we were able to ride everything more than once.

--- Update ---

Oh...and I finally rode FJ! I'm one of the big girls and I've been trying since June to drop some pounds so I could ride the ride. Well, I got on it tonight and the seat was comfortable, I wasn't squished in and got the three clicks! And the ride was fantastic!

It was definitely dead last night!

I walked in a little after 8 and got a poster. Managed to ride Dragon Challenge (posted 10 min wait, which was about how long it took to get to the front of the line), Flight of the Hippogriff (posted 10 min wait, but was immediate walk-on), and Forbidden Journey (single rider was walk-on, regular line was about 20 minute wait), watch the Frog Choir, and have a small meal at Three Broomsticks.

I was definitely expecting more crowds, but it was nice how it was. :)

The passholder event looked pretty neat. Hopefully they can do another one soon. How crowded are the parks on Black Friday? I am planning on going this friday.

Hey Everyone..Im finally back from my first visit to Potter. Here are my opinions.

First off, we got to the park at 9am..checked our stuff in the lockers and headed over. At that point Journey was a 45 min wait..but was actually more like 25. Someone (Teebin?) said that the wait outside was much longer then then one in. That was true for me too. Once we were inside the castle we were moving very quickly.

Thoughts on the ride...I thought it was a lot of fun, but to be perfectly honest, I have NO idea what the hell was going on. Now please keep in mind, Ive only seen each movie once or twice and never read the books, so while I recognized some things, I coudlnt figure out if there was a story or not. It was extremely chaotic, and the ride itself was a blast, just didnt come away with anything else except..well that was fun! My wife who hasnt seen or read any of the material, enjoyed it as well, but came away the same...clueless to what was happening. I did think it was rather scary, especially for kids. I jumped a few times.

Thoughts on the park...REALLY impressive amounts of detail..I mean REALLY impressive. My wife is a graphic designer, and was really impressed how every inch of the area was themed. The aged beer taps? awesome. We both loved the stores, although we didnt hit Olivanders, I refused to wait in line for that. The toy shop Zonkos? was my favorite. We bought a Pygmy Puff (?) for my 9 month old daughter, and she squealed when she saw it. LOL.

Other stuff you folks may find interesting...

The longest wait I saw for Potter was 60 mins. There were quite a few people dressed in Potter gear.

The rest of the park was pretty much dead, all the water rides were walk ons...and the Hulk and Spidey were 30 min waits. Some of these rides need a lot of TLC..espically after seeing how great Potter area looked. On Cat in the Hat, my wife says "this ride is really dirty" you could see the dust collecting on the rides. Gross.

Speaking of which... Have they geared Cat in the Hat back up to full spinning speed? When I went in the summer it was ridiculously tame, thanks to that kid who fell out earlier in the year.

Last time I rode, it was almost at full spin, and up intil then it had been getting pregressively faster. I expect by now it might be up to full speed.

Not like that today. Spiderman had a 130 min wait, FJ had 120 min, and Hippogriff was 50 minutes. Every ride was packed and the park seemed much more crowded then yesterday.

Probably how people who weren't fully aware of the story plotline felt coming out of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix... xD
