Is Star just the name of the Fox assets now? Their demo was Kingsman, Die Hard and Alien.

Sort of. Star is basically Hulu with a different name.

I’m actually upset Star isn’t being integrated into Disney+ in the US lol. I guess I’ll have to break out the VPN.

For Star Wars it’s absolutely overkill.

from day 1 I’ve said “Star Wars is not Marvel”, but it seems they’re intent on diluting the brand and making it into that

Milk the cow is all they know, have they doubled their investment yet? Stockholders want to know

I mean Obi Wan is 6 episodes...so some of these shows will not be long.

Obi Wan
Rogue One Prequel
Mando Season 3
Bad Batch

Thats 4 out of ten right there. Assuming Boba gets a show that will focus hopefully on just Bounties like Mando did for the first 4 episodes but now a full time show. A sequel to rebels, a high republic show, a New Republic show thats 8.

I know, but I’d rather them be integrated together.

If they are getting 10 dollars from me watching ads, then they can lower the live tv cost.

So it certainly appears -- barring an announcement here -- that, in the U.S., Disney wants Hulu to kind of remain its own thing, and doesn't seem interested in putting the deeper Fox catalogue (or the harder-edged stuff that Disney owns from Miramax, Dimension, Touchstone, etc.) in the same interface as Disney+.

I wonder the lack of integration is due to the Comcast deal that allowed them to fully control Hulu forcing it to be a separate entity and eventually wrap it into D+ for the combined price.

Well, it would probably be a bad business decision tbh. Hulu is well known, doing great, and things like the FX stuff and movies like Palm Springs, Run, etc may actually get lost if they were just thrown on Disney+.

Its more fiscally beneficial charging people for two products and boosts subscriber numbers. 1 subscriber equals 3 subscribers since I am assuming most people are subscribing to three services with a bundle.

I still feel like I've gotten no clarity on whether or not Disney owns or has influence over the Miramax library.

Actually i saw some interesting things regarding rights. I was shocked when they showed STAR, they had Moonrise Kingdom when that is a Universal film. So while they may not have domestic rights to the Miramax, they may have maintained international rights.

You have to remember that Star is international, they may have inherited some rights from Fox. Maybe Fox distributed it internationally?

The lack of trailers and just the music make this really awkward.

I know they said some of the promotional material would be "blacked out" to regular viewers... but is every project going to be presented this way, or are we actually going to see/hear anything about any of these projects?

Leading off with all this stuff that they can't show to us normal folk seems like a strategy to get viewers to tune out.
