Just like with disneys dining plan i see no advantages for this

There are 2 advantages to using a dining plan. You will save money (probably less than 2%). But for me, the biggest advantage would be having all (most) of the trips meals paid for in advance. When I was a single, the value of a dining would never have occurred to me. But now that dinner is 3X as expensive, pre-paying really helps when planning a trip.

I agree, they should have gotten buy in. There are a lot of third party restaurants in Disney (especially Epcot) and they are all included on the Disney Dining Plan. Having limitations of where you can go may be the downfall of this thing. Because I know Disney Dining Plan just confuses people on what their allowed to order while in the place, now add the confusion of where you can order? Gonna be a mess for employees.

I understand the limitations a little, I know Disney didn't get all the 3rd party at first (they're still adding the hold outs little by little). But at least the quick serve in the hotels would make sense. Nothing at the hotels doesn't seem right for hotel guests.

I guess if you want to know food cost in advance.
There is not a cost saving that I can see unless you get the most expensive everything (that you would not do if you were paying as you go)
Plus it locks you in to staying on property all day and keeps your money @ Universal.

You don't have to order the most expensive thing. It's pretty easy to get to $50 at theme park pricing. $10 for drink and snack, $10 for food and drink at quick serve, $30 for drink, entree and desert at table service.

Universal is adding a Dining Plan and stopping the day-of sales of Meal Deal. $46/day unless you stay at their hotels, then it's free

"

So is that correct, the dining plan is free if you stay onsite but with the purchase of a vacation package?

Touring Plans says the free dining plan is just a promotion for now.

On Universal's website they are offering a Vacation Package called, "Vacation Like You Mean It with FREE Dining"

Looks like 2 days of Dining with a 4-Night minimum stay at one of their "Partner" hotels.

Although I'm just a little sad to see the meal deal leave (there were days where I didn't want to leave and did the entire day at the parks where I used and abused that thing), one nice possibility is the meal deal signs plastered all over being removed. I can't count the number of shots I've passed on because of those stupid signs sticking out like a sore thumb, or pictures that have them because there's no other way to get the shot.

My guess is after they get enough people doing this new dining plan then meal deal will go away. You can't do a straight cut over because the dining plans are more in advance where the meal deal are more bought that day.

It's probably another way like RFID where people may be less likely to scam the system. (A Preview Center employee actually told us to use our money towards two Meal Deals for our group of 5 to share )

Dunno if anyone will know this, but this package is stays thru november 24th. Is this like Disney, as long as I check in before or on that date, would I qualify? I plan on arriving november 23rd. This package might be good for me/family.

Call and find out. The worst that is going to happen is they'd say no and you're back to this point.

Oh, and does anyone else find it odd that you can only buy the plan if you are booking a hotel, yet you can't use the plan at any of the hotel restaurants.

I noticed. What's up with that?
