Possibly early 2030s the article says. I wonder if something jumped start the idea…

www.bbc.co.uk

Eurostar plans direct trains from London to Frankfurt and Geneva

The firm hopes a fleet of up to 50 new trains will be up and running by the early 2030s.

Seems like they would have to solve the depot problem first, there's not any room to expand the depot in Hackney Marshes out, they would have to look closer to Ebbsfleet, maybe they can expand Singlewell

There's been talk about that for several years, certainly pre-dating Universal's interest in Bedford. I've been following the rumours as I'd be interested in the Geneva service.

Of peripheral interest, Bedford Council's planning update to the National Planning Inspectorate on the borough's economic and housing plan has been delayed because of the Highways Agency dragging its feet on the future of the M1/A421 junction 13 and the A421/A6 intersections. I doubt it will have much impact on the ongoing planning work by Universal, but it's all interconnected so there might be some implications. I had hoped that we would see more info on Bedford Council's revised strategic plan at their Executive Committee meeting next week, but it (and the extraordinary Council meeting which had been planned for the same day) has been cancelled. This might have given us an idea of whether the land around Universal's purchase would be used for housing or other activities.

I can see Americans taking a multi-week "European" holiday where they spend a week or part of one in London then travel to see Paris, DLP, and so on. Places like Efteling if they're theme park people, places like Rome or Barcelona if they're not. Or combine the trip with a Europe DCL sailing maybe?

That actually makes a lot of sense, especially the idea of bundling London with other major European stops. I could see a lot of international visitors planning a "Eurotrip" that includes a few days in London for the new Universal project and the WB Studio Tour, then heading down to Barcelona. It’s already a popular destination, and with its mix of cultural sites and family attractions, it fits right in. There’s even a helpful guide on some of the top amusement parks in and around the city for families and thrill-seekers alike The Ultimate Guide to Amusement Parks in Barcelona: Fun, Culture and Family-Friendly Adventures Combining that with a London park visit could make for a really well-rounded trip.

Came across this today, I'll be having a listen when I get enough spare time.

www.bbc.co.uk

Rollercoaster: Universal's Bedfordshire Journey - What do you want to see in Universal’s first European theme park? - BBC Sounds

Riding the ups and downs of Universal's plans for a theme park in the Three Counties.
www.bbc.co.uk www.bbc.co.uk

Has anyone else listened to this yet? Was it good or am I wasting my time?

If you find it informative or entertaining then it's not a waste of time. Unless one of these is hawking blatantly false info, there's no need to worry about it wasting your time if you enjoyed it. I myself spend way too much time watching YT videos about UGB and not once have I felt like my time was wasted.

Not to be a suspicious person on the internet, but where did this form come from? I just like to know exactly who I'm giving my information to, haha.

It’s on the official website, at the bottom of the page.

It looks like Universal have created a form for those interested in working for them to complete.

Thank you, I just like to be careful haha.

It's interesting that they're collecting that data now, it feels like quite early to be doing that!

Yeah I’m not sure to be fair, I just saw it on the site and thought I’d post it on here.

There is also one for suppliers to fill in.

I think it’s partly to reassure locals they won’t be overlooked for employment, and also this could be for people to “build” the park rather than “operate” which like you say may come much later.

It’s cool though, fair play to Universal.

Do we think it’s likely Universal will bring facial recognition technology to this park?

I think it would make things easier and more fluid for operations. Rather than messing around with tickets or fingerprints.

By the time UGB opens, I would say high likelihood.

@ProjectUniversal has dropped his latest youtube video that shows what's been happening this week. They're going full-steam with boreholes and ground testing on the Lake Zone.

I'd agree, I would expect that to be industry standard for a Universal level park by the time this park opens.
