Yeah, I had that thought... for a second. This whole two park WW setup gives me nightmares when it comes to the guest's perspective. "Im here to go to the Wizarding World!!!" - 'There are two Wizarding Worlds, which one do you want tickets to?' How might they solve the pricing/access for this? I cannot think of one good solution.

Edit: Unless of course, they give the area an entirely different name???

The problem is that guests don't call it "Wizarding World," they refer to it as the (IMO disgusting term) "Harry Potter World." Anyways, Universal would have to make it accessible from USF unless massive land walls are built around it so that guests cannot see it from the rest of USF. It is possible to make access to Wizarding World in both parks only possible with a multi-park ticket.

They could call em The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hogsmeade and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley (or something along those lines). There's a possibility they'll be separate, but I'd hope for them to be connected...

Well yeah, but people want to go to the Harry Potter Park. Not two different parks at a much higher price.

That would never happen. If the entire reason they're even considering having HP in both parks is to level off some of the attendance and profit margins, it makes no sense to leave USF high and dry.

It's possible. Regardless of what happens, TM's working in both Potter sections are gonna have an awful time dealing with guest relations.

Personally I don't want to have to access the entire attraction either by two gates or some train system but... If you have a product that is so popular and much more so than almost any other franchise you could build what do you do? I mean if this is how its going to go then Universal might be onto a SERIOUS cash cow that there gonna milk for all its worth. The endless options via tickets, special packages, tours, private access, more food, more souvenirs almost make it a no brainer from a business perspective.

I think the two main things Universal is dealing with is how to further the money train with Potter as well as boosting attendance at the Studios. And as I mentioned what franchise could bring it in like Potter? Seems like there solving all there issues with one MAJOR expansion that will completely restructure not only the studios but the entire resort.

This has been pretty much stated, but its worth posting:

2014 - Jaws Replacement / Potter Phase 2 - (12/5/11) In case you missed the late breaking announcement on Friday afternoon, but Universal Orlando announced that the Jaws attraction and the entire Amity themed area around it will be closing down forever after January 2nd to make way for a new attraction. While they were not ready to disclose what is in the works yet… I’ve done a good bit of digging since then and have come up with an amazing proposal that is going to both shock and likely amaze you at the same time.
If my various sources are correct, the Amity / Jaws area will be replaced by the proposed Phase 2 expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Now, before you flip out… lets go over it all, because for starters this really isn’t going to be the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at all. Instead, from what I’ve been able to gather, the new land to be build in Universal Studios Florida will actually represent the “London” side of the PotterVerse… including an entrance to the infamous Diagon Alley.
Diagon Alley, as seen in the movies, is home to infamous locations such as The Leaky Cauldron, Gringott’s Wizarding Bank and the true Ollivanders wand shop location, as seen in the films. The London location is also said to be home to King’s Cross station, where students would board the Hogwarts Express train from Platform 9 ¾.
Many of these locations have been mentioned in the rumored development plans for Phase 2 of the Wizarding World for months now, including an innovative indoor dark coaster ride said to take place inside Gringott’s Wizarding Bank. It’s no secret that the Wizarding World has been popular…so much so that it needed to be expanded to spread out the crowds, and come up with a way to provide new locations for guests to buy Butterbeer, Ollivanders wands and more. But it seems that Universal Creative really decided to try a new idea… and think really outside the box this time. Literally… because this new expansion is going to allow for guests in both parks to get a taste of the PotterVerse… but to get the ENTIRE experience, you’d going to have to have a 2-park ticket.
Speaking of having access to both parks… connecting the dots is said to be a true recreation of the Hogwarts Express, allowing guests with two park passes (and Universal Resort guests) to recreate the true journey from the Muggle world of London and actually board travel to the train station and board the train for a trip over to Hogwarts and the rest of the Wizarding World at Islands of Adventure.
Now if all that wasn’t enough, I’ve heard some rumors about another possible new attraction likely to go into this Phase 2 project, that may attempt to take advantage of the new 3D projection tunnel technology Universal created for King Kong 3D 360 at the Hollywood park earlier this year. I don’t know if this may be put to use during your train ride on the Hogwarts Express, or if this will be an entirely separate ride experience. (One source suggested it could be a trip on the 3-decker Knight Bus, but I’ve heard that this isn’t likely to happen).
Either way this is huge… and apparently it all has a rather aggressive construction timeline as Universal is said to be shooting to have it all up and running by 2014. I’ve also heard that an official announcement or teaser could be released very soon, so stay tuned!

Just wondering with the whole train argument, if it is built, what exactly becomes of the train currently sitting at the entrance to the WWHP? This strikes me as something JK would be interested in; given her apparent pickyness with other aspects I doubt she'd want one Hogwarts Express in permanent residence somewhere and another flying off between different areas.

Just something I was wondering

Perhaps if the "train" is built you never actual see the engine when moving. The engine in Hogsmead would represent that you've arrived there and there would possibly be another one parked similarly in Kings Cross.

I don't think the kong tech is viable here. For one thing, the "tunnel" perception is not accurate. Kong is a large building that you enter into the middle of (height wise) via a ramp. Although what you view as being a tunnel is really just a small section of the building you are in. The 180 feet of Kong reportedly cost 3 times as much as it would've cost to rebuild the original AA Kong attraction. I'm pretty sure there is more than 180 feet between JAWS and Hogsmeade. So, you're looking at a huge price tag of the attraction itself coupled with the fact that in order to achieve the effect, you have to have a 5 story building ( give or take as the screens are 40 feet tall) and you can see how expensive this gets real fast.

That was just King Kong... we are talking about Harry Potter here. One is proven to be a mega theme park cash cow, the other, not so much. Too, much of the costs involved in the kong attraction had to be the mega CGI creation itself. Four separate rendered CGI films.

Honestly I think that if they were to use the 360 tech for a train, its pretty easy to film a countryside in the UK and then CGI in Ron and Harry in the car flying by us as well as other wizards and witches on broomsticks, or something so that the guests aren't JUST looking at countryside on the train ride.

If they are really expanding Potter to US, I have no idea what they are going to do with Lost Continent. Do you guys think that it would just stay over there?

The Hogwarts express could work, like the new King Kong ride at USH with the things looking 3D-ish even without the glasses, and have multiple carriages just going from station to station slowly with a rumbling carriage or something

Anyway, what are the chances that U.C. use the Google SketchUp Warehouse? My model - http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=c479405b204c8d79494a51b640588d64 - has had a massive boost in downloads around mid September (a massive boost for my models is more than zero downloads a week), it might not be to late to incorporate some of these ideas into the real park (cough cough), wishful thinking...
