I wasn't completely sure where to post this (in the WWoHP thread or Phase 2) or if it has been brought up before but while I was watching The Making of the WWoHP video on hulu I noticed this:

Why would they have a render of Gringotts and Diagon Alley while designing the WWoHP?

Why would they have a render of Gringotts and Diagon Alley while designing the WWoHP?

Thank you so much for finding and posting this. I remember seeing it on that special, but could never find it. I imagine that it was something they pitched early on before they ultimately decided upon Hogsmeade/Hogwarts.

Just read about the demo for those Lost Continent buildings....will it even be a "continent" anymore? I really think they should just call it Mthyhos Island or something. After Potter expands there won't be much left.

I thought that UO had decided to ax all of LC. Has anyone heard differently recently?

I'm pretty sure the one on the right is the atm in the current WWoHP, but those buildings are interesting. I have a feeling ReelJustice is right, and it was from before they decided on Hogsmeade/Hogwarts, but who knows if the same drawings are dug back up again for Phase 2.

Where on earth did you hear that? Really there's no reason for them to get rid of all of LC, all they really need is the Arabian section for the station.

If they leave Poseidon...can we please put an actual ride in there? Maybe based off of The Odyssey or something more than Poseidon and Lord Nobodygivesacrap..I mean Darkenon

Dragon Challenge is getting a new entrance when the expansion happens, rumor has it.

The way I envision the LC phase of expansion is the forest from the beginning and end of Order of the Phoenix. New Dragon Challenge entrance where the soon to be demo'd tent is. Train station where Sinbad is.

I figured they'd make Dragon Challenge's queue shorter, rather than longer. It never fills up out of the castle -- er, I mean "tent" -- anymore, right?

I think it's fine the way it is in length, but there should be at least two showrooms, and various effects laden throughout, in order to actually present a valid story. These 'dungeons' could very well serve to be those taken by the dragon handlers. We could also very well be regular spectators confused as being workers and be ushered frantically into quick training to board our dragon decoys and get the two escaped dragons back to the station. And during the main 'tent' scene, there could be an array of dragon cages filled with uncomfortable dragons waiting to be lifted up into the stadium above, two of which are broken and still fire-red with heat. And the outside could be the main stadium on a bed of rocks. Ugh the possibilities.

In a way, it does make sense to me. The way I imagine it, the current entrance arch for Dragon Challenge would become the entrance to the Hogsmeade Train Station. That way it gives the illusion that we are going to board the train from behind the Hogwarts Express locomotive. This, obviously, if we get a Hogwars Express to connect both lands. Also, in that case, the lockers would probably be relocated too.

^ There is absolutely no room to put a walkway to a new train towards the east or north of where the DC arch is now. Towards Sinbad is completely blocked by DC supports. That in mind, the only way would be able to do such a thing is build a mega above ground tunnel that supports and shields the train and rails itself. Even then I don't believe it is possible as the blue train is sooooo low at that point.

The students walk to the train station, they don't just see it as they walk into Hogsmeade. That was a caveat of the design. But if the DC entrance is left alone, the current station is turned into a small tea shop, and the Sinbad area is turned into forest (with perhaps two spaces for merchandise carts), the station could work with ample space.
