Excellent find mickelmouse87! I didn't even have... errrrh... My Sand Hill Cranes never showed me this earlier stuff and I am most unhappy. :look: What my cranes did show me was that there were somewhat major changes right down to the wire, just a 4-8 months before previews... (end of story). I prefer the vector pdfs... zoom down to 1". This is a combo unfortunately. What this shows is that they had a hunch it might be majorly popular back in 2007. I am glad to find that I am not the only person to find these technical plans exceptionally fascinating.

PS: I love that engineer's signature... sexy.

PSS: As someone posted earlier... they were terribly unsure of the side street plans and thus the Neep isn't present but neither are the floorplans for what would have been there architecturally. The solution with the Neep is the land's Achilles Heel as far as I am concerned... a terrible bottleneck against the very popular experience of Olivander's.

I think he said that it might be done by the summer or fall of 2014. Maybe he was right ??? His name was pop something ???????

MOTHER OF...

Yeah, I'm playing catch-up on this thread. I just saw the link to the blueprints. The ex-engineer student in me loves blueprints. *dead*

--- Update ---

Guess what the wallpaper on my desktop is now.

It will more than likely open Summer of 2015.

Announcement late this year/early next year.

My projection:

late 2011/early 2012: Arab portion of Lost Continent meets thy fate in phases (probably starting with Sinbad and working their way towards Hogsmeade to keep that entrance open for as long as possible.)

late 2012/early 2013 visible construction ofGringotts, Diagon Alley infrastructure.

2014 facades

2015 Open in time for Grad Bash.

I honestly doubt it will even be announced by early 2012. IMO, it's really unlikely, I'd wait another year or two.

It'll be announced sometime in 2012. It'll be ridiculously obvious what's going on anytime after that since construction would most likely be going on

Ah, but if I'm right, construction won't start until 2013, as I think it'll be announced late 2012/early 2013.

Exactly, by this time next year, Sinbad will likely be closed and then demolition will begin, and depending the size of Gringotts, some backstage stuff may have to be relocated and/or rerouted. Phase 2 will be different in that things will have to close in order for work to commence whereas they worked on the FJ showbuilding long before they closed Merlin Wood, etc.

Am I the only one on this thread that thinks there's no way on earth that Phase 2 will even be announced in a year? Or am I just the only one who's awake at 3:50 AM?

I believe that if the goal for Grand opening in June 2015 the announcement won't come until after Summer 2014. Even though construction will start 1.5 years earlier than that. There will just be construction wall with "pardon our dust" signs on them. Remember when Disney built Bay Lake Tower, it was standing there big as day and Disney was like "what giant tower?" of course they didn't want DVC buyers to wait for BLT when they were still selling Saratoga Springs and AKL Villas. Like Universal won't want people postponing their Summer vacations. They want people saying "wonder what they're building? More potter? Dang, we will just have to come back next year."

I agree with you and Disneyhead there's no need for a phase two to be announced yet, the park is doing fantastic. It will be left how it is for several years to come IMO

The only thing an announcement will do is cause people to postpone vacations. Uni knows we will know what is going on and be posting construction pics etc. We will create the buzz even without an announcement.

This would be a good time for Orlando United to play nice with Uni. Because after last time EVERYONE knows the Orlando United is the go to place for all things Potter Park related. We know that Uni's Social Media Dept. watches this site like a hawk.

I've seen this brought up before...and I think it's a terrible idea. the whole Bay Lake fiasco with Disney was bashed by pretty much everyone on how they handled that situation. I'd hate to see Universal do the same mistake.

Once construction goes vertical, something's gotta give.

I see your points, but I am still putting my money on Uni not making an announcement and Sindbad's disappearing from the map and generic construction walls going up behind the Mystic Fountain. Uni. Has several other projects to absorb the attention of the masses. It will just be us fanbois blathering on about what's going on in the shrinking Lost Continent.
And the reason why is Uni doesn't want people to postpone their vacations. They would rather try to trick them into 2 trips to Orlando. Summer '09 had horrible numbers because 1. Waiting for Potter, 2. HRRR debacle. They certainly don't want a repeat of either of those cases.

But don't you think if they have other projects opening during the time they are building it peopel will still come?

I believe that is a smart idea. I am sure their attendance was hurt, a little bit, in 2009 because people were waiting for 2010 when WWOHP opened. Even if just a little. I think people would put off a vacation until the 2nd part is done. Don't announce, just start demo and prep work, get people locked in. Then, a year to a year and a half, say something. I don't think they will take a massive attendance hit in a year.

and heck, all this talk about expansion and I haven't yet seen the first open part. LOL.

I guess I get what you're saying Disneyhead, but I can't imagine them working on construction for over a year before they announce it. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I've always said, I think Sinbad will close down just after the new year this upcoming year. The moment we see that happenning, then its on like Donkey Kong.
