Honestly, I think the bridge is high enough that we will still be able to see Gringotts upon entering Diagon. It seems the only view it will severely obstruct is that of the Weasleys' facade from the Gringotts end of the street.

That being said, I'm still unclear as to the purpose it will serve since it seems to lead nowhere except maybe the roof of Leaky/Knockturn.

Thematically, I'm pretty sure everyone (with damn few exceptions) is just as confused as we are to what this structure may represent. Hoping someone, ANYONE, can drop us some more hints from "on high"?

I'm not really concerned about it blocking Gringotts, but good luck trying to get a pic of WWW...

After looking through the pics of the bridge, it looks like it is about 25-30 foot to the bottom of it, or about 3 stories of scaffolding. The main facade of WWW with the hat trick(in the movie), is between the 2nd and 3rd story. Assuming they use the same sizing, it should all fall shorter than the bottom of the bridge and not be an issue as far as sight lines go.

Here is the video. Sorry for the shaky quality. We were getting buffeted by the wind pretty good. I shouldn't have tried to zoom in so much.

Damn impressive pics, Bob, Disneyhead and company. Damn impressive. I find it slightly odd, however, that there were no pics taken of the Hogwarts Express trains/coal cars/carriages. I went on 9/26 for HHN and the trains/carriages were all wrapped in plastic and stuck under a protective structure right next to the Walking Dead house (located in the parade building). 2 days later, on 9/28, they were completely unwrapped and had been moved to an open area that were between the soundstages and the HE track. Was the trip made just before they were moved/unwrapped?

Nice work!

Maybe that bridge won't be used for all TMs. Maybe we're seeing a technicians bridge?

For one, the only thing that could be placed at that dead-end side of the bridge is a small ladder for roof access. And they wouldn't make/let anyone from entertainment climb a ladder, nor would they let chefs/custodians. Just not something they do. Stairs at the most. Technicians climb ladders!

So that concrete slab (to be poured) provides a nice walkway and access to possible lighting rigs, fireworks rigs, maybe even pyro. All technical aspects. I'm going with a bridge used by technicians mainly/only.

They were never moved from beside the track and have been there since they were first brought in.

What you saw under tarps was the Superstar Parade floats.

I'm thinking the main use for the bridge is protection from the elements, sun, rain, and bird poop. If you watch the clip of Harry's first look at Gringotts you see an elevated walkway on one side and metal scaffolding or whatever on the other side, so there are structures going over the alley, Uni just moved them around a bit.

Ah yes, that is it. HTF either told me or all of us months back about the practical purpose; think 'queue', 'extended', 'sun'.

True, but the "scaffolding" looks more like just wooden beams that are basically holding up the structure of Gringotts and the elevated walkway is VERY small. Seems more like an elaboration than a recreation.

Anyone have any idea when they're going to start putting out more promotional material? If they are indeed going to be opening this by next summer as has been suggested, that means they now have less than a year to effectively put out marketing material on this.

^ They are waiting until after the Nov. and Dec. holidays. They do not want people putting off their 2013 vacations.

OK, this bridge might be why Uni hates backstage pictures

I think we all need to do a wait and see approach, looking at the video it seems higher than most features and so I don't think site lines will be an issue. I also think it won't look anything like it does now, it will be well themed. Just like none of the buildings will look like they do today. I also think it is great to have more shade in this area, as we know people will be waiting a long time for various things and shade will really help out.

Exactly  From the opposite side we might lose some visibility of the very top of the building (if anything), but as for the important part of the facade, the Wealsey puppet thing, it should be visible since it's not on top, but more in the middle of the building:

Also, even though this is not really something in the movies, it's not the first time they've deviated a bit in design, and this is probably for the better. We'll all be glad when we're not queuing under the sun for hours

That's excellent! Thanks, DH! It helps to see things in video form and the zooming is good. One can pause the video to observe more closely, and the continuous shot helps a lot with perspectives. Amazing work!

I agree about the video, I thought it was great and really helped me a lot to understand the whole area and I enjoyed the zoomed in parts. DH did an amazing job with this. All three of you did great, well worth the wait and investment.
