Talking about Q’s next year, I would not mind them doing something about pirates

They just need to fund a way to not have it just snake into walk walks

Maybe destroy the wall between adventureland tree house and the loading area and enclose it so there is more inside Q

Disney is doing what they do best nowadays: giving us stuff that no one asked for. Now we won’t be able to enjoy the normal Haunted Mansion this year. I would not be surprised if they also quietly changed some vital elements like stretching room (I hope not).

Meanwhile, USH is giving us new rides as Disney feels like they can drag their heels on giving us anything new. You want a new Avengers ride? You want us to redo Tomorrowland? How about we change Splash Mountain instead and close the Haunted Mansion for most of the year to add a gift shop. That silly Avengers ride can wait a decade.

Universal is killing it with new attractions

How ever universal sucks with events, so it’s a trade off. (HHN is secretly a 200+ dollar event on most nights unless you want to spend 6 hours in lines and still not see all the maxes with a normal ticket, I know some nights it can be done but the I was there on weekend two and Chucky took me almost an hour with an express pass, HHN is great but also they let too many people in)
Disney lunar new years is great, Star Wars event will be fun, Pixar fest hopefully will be great and we are getting the soul full event soon.

Unfortunately no company is killing it on all fronts

I agree it’s a joke that only splash is being activity worked on on both coasts. DCA and AK both need more attractions

I hope D23 they are like avatar land coming to DCA, updating the falcon ride, avengers ride, Disneyland 60th celebration and possibly hint at DCA 25th anniversary celebration

Disneyland is also, in its current form, arguably the best theme park in the world. I’d take the “resting on their laurels” stuff more seriously if the laurels weren’t so darn good.

It won't be. I gave it 2 overpriced chances the past 2 years. 2022 I thought it was just bad due to being post-apocalypse. Unfortunately 2023 was not an improvement.

However, I'm jaded only because of WDW's former Star Wars Weekends event (which was FREE with park admission!!).

I got to visit Disneyland yesterday. Took advantage of those low wait times.

I got to eat at Tiana's Palace for the first time. I got the BBQ chicken with mac and cheese and cornbread. Not bad at all. I think Tiana's is an upgrade from the Cafe Orleans (I think that's what it was called). I probably won't get the corn bread again as it was kinda cold, dry, and well.....cornbread-ish. It tasted like just plain homemade corn bread made with minimal effort. I'm not a huge fan of cornbread in the first place so maybe that's just me. Putting a little maple syrup in there or something would go a long way. But other than that, Tiana's Place is great! Will definitely eat there again.

As for the rides, I got to hit up all the major rides except Haunted Mansion as that was down and Big Thunder. I just didn't feel like getting pounded with rain outdoors and I've done it enough times to where I won't be upset missing out on it. I even got to hit up Rise and Runaway Railway twice! Both with very, very short wait times which will probably never happen again unless it pours. Thankfully everything except the turret scene was working in Rise (They need to fix that) but the Carnival and the Volcano scenes on Runaway Railway were running on B-mode unfortunately. While I don't think those two are end-all-be-alls, it's really unfortunate for a ride that's only a year old and needs to be fixed.

Also, on my way out of the park, I caught a moment where I heard some panicked shouting coming from the Matterhorn. The ride was stopped and I heard some lady yelling "Get us out! Get us OUT! Get us off the f&%$ing ride!!!! NOW!!!!!" I walked over to where the break run was facing Alice and I noticed a guy who looked about in his late 30's/early 40's getting up out of his seat while the ride was stopped. While he proceeded to do this, the lady continually yelled, "Get us off, he's having a mental breakdown!", all while the CMs where yelling at him to remain seated. While they were yelling at him, the guy was completely out, standing next to the bobsled and yelled, "I'm out!" It was pure chaos and truly a sight to behold.

But other than getting a soggy butt, I had fun! It had been years since I experienced a rainy day at Disney, and it was cool to experience that again!

Thanks for sharing. I swear when they were launching Tiana's palace they were talking about how the corn bread comes from some place in New Orleans so that it's really good quality and authentic, maybe that's changed since opening?

Really dispiriting to hear that Runaway Railway is still already in such a compromised state. The carnival scene has been running in B-mode since at least November, and now the volcano sequence (not a very complicated figure!) has been in B-mode for at least a month. Not good.

I think the turrets have gone to live with the Yeti on the other side of the rainbow bridge. While I don’t think it’s as egregious as the times I’ve the probe droid not moving or Finn frozen as he’s yelling at our car, missing that effect does take something away from a closing scene that was big and impressive when it was working properly.

The issue is.....Disney can't have rides go down because of replacing Splash and HM Q Redo

Disney.....I think screwed up with the Splash Redo....at disneyland at least it just seems like the wrong time for it. I think they should have added a ride to DCA and then redone Splash but....it's not how it is so here we are

I'm kinda worried that we will see a similar thing at USH when Simpsons goes down since we will only have one new ride by then.

No, the cornbread just comes from the Disneyland bakery. The bread that they said comes from New Orleans is for the muffaleta and the po'boy.

Also the lemon beignets are terrible regardless of where they come from

The Avengers E ticket is probably being held up due to once again due to Disney once again not having a solid direction for an Avengers E ticket coupled with a lack of confidence in the Marvel brand right now. My guess is Disney knows DL Forward is likely going to get the green light and would rather focus on something else (probably Avatar) as the next thing for DCA, and then revisit the idea of an Avengers E ticket down the line once the MCU fully gets back on track or gets rebooted.

If Simpsons goes down shortly after F&F opens, this would be a great opportunity to do a new film for the DWT to tide USH guests over until the Simpsons replacement opens in 2027-2028.

I know I’m beating a dead horse here, but I’m really frustrated about them dragging their heels on that Avengers ride. It should’ve opened with the land. If they’re going to wait until they have a better direction with where they’re going to with the MCU then we’re probably looking at 2030 at the earliest.

Just start building the ride already. People will go see it. Just give us a good Avengers ride.

By the time they build the ride, the group and attraction, will be called "Grandsons of the Avengers" ;)

Avengers Campus = Bad decision
San Fransokyo = Good decision

Disneyland itself though definitely needed another addition outside of Runaway Railway before doing a Splash overhaul. Honestly, they could've just redone the one restaurant for Princess & the Frog for now. Tomorrowland should've been their current project.

I was trying to think of everything DLR has done over the last 5 years...
  • Galaxys Edge, Smugglers Run & ROTR
  • Runaway Railway & Toontown redo
  • Avengers Campus & Spidey
  • Pixar Pier retheme
  • Adventureland Tree House
  • Pixar Hotel retheme
  • Tiana's Palace retheme
  • Project stardust works pre SWGE
  • Mobile food ordering & Genie+
  • Disneyland Hotel DVC Tower
Current Projects:
  • Downtown Disney Rebuild
  • Tianas Not Splash Mountain
  • Haunted Mansion Queue & Shop
I'm bummed that they don't have something other than a retheme currently under construction, and they have completely dropped the ball/missed the opportunity to open an Avengers E-Ticket, BUT the above is arguably a LOT of investment in the resort over a relatively short time period.

I really think people wouldn't be antsy/frustrated if the Avengers E-Ticket was under construction.

I don't have a problem with Disney building an entire land at DCA based around the MCU. I think that should have happened in the 2010’s, during phase 1 or 2 of the MCU. My problem is simply that they botched it. It's just concrete, mini shows, and screen rides.

Obviously the ambitious new e ticket would have helped, but I think instead of multiple mini shows, make one large stunt show in place of Spiderman. Waterworld still commands huge crowds, despite being based on an IP nobody cares about. Then put the interactivity from Spiderman out in the land, with mini games, like SNW. And please, just choose any aesthetic other than bare concrete and a repurposed factory
