To be fair, nothing Universal has built since Cabana Bay has really had much of a theme. Unless you count Sapphire Falls as themed, which I don’t.

I don't disagree, but Uni has been building economy/moderates. This is a Deluxe. I guess Helios will be a more fair comparison.

I think Sapphire Falls is actually a pretty gorgeous property. Approaching or leaving by water taxi near that rock work and waterfalls is one of my favorite spots in the whole UO resort.

But this rooms look so sterile. I'm so sad. I was considering adding on here but this design just does not inspire me to spend the money. So muted.

This tower is so painfully ugly and feels completely disconnected to the rest of resort in terms of theme. It's also so freaking huge compared to the low-rise original Polynesian buildings that I just hate everything about this so far.

It's not the worst thing in the grand scheme of things, but definitely one of the worst things Disney has ever built on property aesthetically.

I think the interiors really look stunning. Gorgeous tasteful theming, perfect lighting design, pops of colour. Feels luxe and expensive.

I feel in minority (I will also never stay here) but I think these look fantastic and perfect for this expansion.

Yeah, the top complaint about rooms across the industry is that they look dated or worn. Rooms everywhere - Disney, Universal, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Sea World whenever they get around to building their hotels - are designed to make them hold up over time and not look dated.

The exterior is… something, but this is not an upgrade over what gets built now:

And people lament the loss of these like the theming totally goes out the window. Sorry but it's design 101 right now and they've done a great job in the attention to other details.

I will say although the rooms looks great, there are some aspects that are disappointing. Really shocked that turquoise wall in the lobby isn't a water feature. I thought that would've been a no-brainer.

The Moana splash pad really isn't much a splash pad at all. Looks more like a photo op than anything else. Also the pool is a total snooze fest.

Yup. The hotels that are lauded for their theming are often times the ones that do too much and put me off from booking there. I was seconds away from booking Miracosta at TDR until I actually saw what the rooms looked like and immediately recoiled.

Ahhh yes, the "grandma's house with fixtures built for CRT televisions" motif that afflicted the Grand Floridian, Disneyland Paris Hotel, Portofino Bay, Bellagio, and countless others.

Back to Poly DVC though, I am a little curious why there couldn't have been even a basic water feature in the lobby area. It can't really be that much more expensive so I wonder if "being green" (ie, no electricity running the pump) is also another "plus" of no water feature.

From my experience, the biggest complaints about this has been the fact that it is a "tower" and ruins views and immersiveness of the surrounding area.

My biggest complaint is that the pool bar mai tai is not a mai tai

What the hell is tea infused vodka doing in here, gross
